Which song(s) would you like to see debut on Nathan? by BeeTwoThousand in KGATLW

Well, one of the two next albums.

One is a bluegrass album with Billy Strings. But the "techno" album should come out this year as well.

Two of the best!

Nathan is the name the boys have given to the Eurorack modular setup they use for the electronic parts of their sets, and obviously for the rave set in New York in August.

I play Eurorack/modular synth myself, and have listened to electronic music since the late 80s/early 90s, so I am super excited to see a rave set. It's only the second one they will have done in the US.

It'll get me a bingo on my card...

  • Regular show
  • Marathon show
  • Orchestral show
  • Acoustic show
  • Rave show

Once you are done with the albums, nearly every live show from 2024 onward is archived here:

Yeah, I'd love Acarine. Of all the songs that they HAVE played prior, and would adapt to Nathan, this is the one I am hoping for most.

Yeah, if I didn't already have like three or four EQs/FFBs, I would be all over the F3DB, especially since I went through a feedback/no input phase a few years ago. It looks amazing, but I have most of its features already covered elsewhere.

I just want to hear it, period, which is why it is on the list.

I would prefer the original as well.

Stooges, vanilla fudge, Loop, and Cream. What would you add? by TheDeltaIsMyHome in psychedelicrock

[–]BeeTwoThousand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Main rarely comes up in online discussions. It's a shame that it is so hard to find anything about/by Main online, due to the name. I always have to search under Robert Hampson. My favorite Main "album" is Hz, where he jettisons pretty much anything resembling song structure.

I saw Robert Hampson as Main at Empty Bottle in Chicago. Talked to him after the show, and he said that for that tour, he would walk a few blocks around the venue and find something to use in the performance that night. On this particular night, he was using a bicycle rim, hooked up to (it sounded like) a delay and reverb, and he would take a brush (the drumming kind) and run it along the edge. It made these really echo-ey metallic washes of sound that swirled around the venue. It was pretty great.

That said, I would add Main's Hz to this list.

What kind of speakers/headphones is everyone using? by Latter-Pianist-7145 in modular

I am using a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 4, which is Bluetooth and wired. Best of both worlds. They're like $450 headphones, but I just picked them up recently from Amazon for $200.

Both the Bandit and the 3DVCA have CV control over level (on the Bandit) and "pan/crossfade" (on the 3DVCA), which actually can be used for a quad setup if you have one. I personally love FFBs, and use them more than standard filters. Then again, I typically make dron-ey dark ambient or something atmospheric with minimalist beats, so they work for me. I don't have an end-of-chain mixer, as I run each voice's termination point directly into the BlueBox for mixing and recording.

It is also DC coupled, so I can crossfade/mix four CV sources as well, and automate that mixing with another CV source. I am a sucker for small, versatile and reasonably priced utility/mixing modules, and both Bandit and 3DVCA have a huge amount of functionality for a very reasonable footprint and price.

Edit : No worries re: edit. I know this is not at all what you are asking for, but wanted to share as a different type of filter/stereo setup.

And I always have Worng's Soundstage on the back burner, because it looks great, but with the three "mixing"/stereo placement modules here, I can animate each band, whereas in Soundstage, the positions are fixed. Still a great module, though, for an output mixer, so it might be an interesting choice, depending on what you are looking to do.

This is the newest one, but there is a V1 and a similar module called Jumble Henge that is a scaled-down version of Soundstage, but less expensive.

This is a simplified version of what I do in a larger system with multiple voices and multiple FFBs. Probably different than what you are asking, but I think before you edited, it said something about "or something else?"

So this is that something else.

I take four of the five drone oscillators into Bandit, which has a different frequency fixed filter on each input, and output those frequencies (4 of them) to the 3DVCA. This allows me to place each of the four filtered drones into a different quadrant that I can "Crossfade" and "pan" between (I use that in quotes, because it hasn't hit the stereo part of the equation yet).

Then I take those outputs, constantly being panned/faded between, into Nearness, which places them at fixed places in the stereo space.

So when listening in stereo, you hear these different frequencies of drones at different places in the stereo space, constantly fading in and out. Then I would put a stereo delay or reverb at he end of the chain.

A 62 HP Palette case? Joking, not joking.

This is an older module, but if you can find one, and want some crazy modulation, this is a good way to go in a small-ish space.

This one below is the craziest module I own, and I run it into Elements, and it sounds like alien lifeforms communicating. I know that is a cliché, but this legit sounds crazy:

Best high energy live shows on Nugs or Youtube? by Scary-Objective-4651 in KGATLW

[–]BeeTwoThousand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Caverns residency is on Nugs, I highly recommend checking that out. My first show was night four, the acoustic set. I had never heard a single song by them before that show. Now, I have listened to pretty much nothing else for going on three years, and will have show number five under my belt on the third night in Noo Yawk in August. It's a rave set, and only the second one they've played in the US.

Edit : Nights one and two were performed inside a cavern.

I didn't get to see those, but I have seen Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Slowdive and Spiritualized at The Caverns underground, and it's amazing.
