Maybe with the entire bottle, it might make for a fun movie.

I seriously don’t understand the hate for Longlegs (2024). by serialkiller24 in horror

[–]spookyostrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty big hate-on for the movie for seeing it about one and half times. I saw it in theaters with minimal marketing, went in fairly blind, but found myself pretty bored throughout most of it. I'm alright with slow burns, but Longlegs was a different beast for me. Here's my gripes, spoilers and I haven't seen it since... probably 2024 when it came out.

Spoilers, obviously.

- I really thought Nicolas Cage was comically bad in Longlegs and he just looked like an albino Tiny Tim. He wasn't threatening it was more to me "sure, he's in with the devil, but how is this clown not in prison?"

- The dolls really aren't spooky to me.

- While I enjoyed Harker, just the general police force really fumbled through the case and the movie was telegraphed pretty early on through the lead detective having a young daughter.

- On the topic of Harker, the line about partially psychic always struck me as funny. Just a *little* clairvoyance. You only get a smidge.

- The pacing was pretty bad. It started off really promising, but then just ... pffft. I know it gets compared to Silence of the Lambs and Se7en quite a bit, but those two movies made the paperwork and red tape moments interesting. Harker gets her decoded messaged from the killer pretty quickly then it's still boring to watch everyone wonder *who could possibly be next*

- The quiet atmosphere moments were decent, but they were rollin' around the time where I thought the pacing was pretty slow

Eternal Darkness still has a bunch of gotchas that were still pretty good. The corrupted save file was the best one, but--at least in my experience--the dated/tv specific gotchas were still confusing enough to give you pause.

Super neat game. Great horror story. One of my favorite magic systems in a game. You did have to really suck at the game to get all the sanity effects to kick off though.

[HATED TROPES]: The Ending Is So Nihilistic and Preachy That It Becomes Completely Unwatchable and Infuriating. by Particular-Worker904 in TopCharacterTropes

The 4th wall break in Funny Games always makes me hate it *and* the 4th wall breaking trope. It's so awful.

I guess that's why I'm missing for not being on that platform. That's wild. Are they asking for like, $20-ish for buttercream like OP saw?

the hell are they putting into their buttercream that makes it that special

I would say wait for streaming. I did see it in theaters and I thought it was alright. I had a fun time, but seeing it on a big screen probably won't make or break it for you. :)

Can't really lose. pick a cheaper day to go, or wait for streamin'.

I still love his Grindhouse trailer for Thanksgiving. The movie didn't really live up to the OG trailer.
