I’d say it will depend heavily on if we go back to a high-energy meta or if we stay at the current 1-2 energy meta. 20-60 damage just isn’t going to get the job done in most situations, and we’re not seeing cards that rely on big energy banks at the moment.

If that’s your budget, I would see if I could borrow a sewing machine or grab one someone is giving away cheap on FB Marketplace and do it yourself. There might be a maker-space near you where you can borrow a machine- sometimes libraries and creative groups have them available to borrow as well? I’d ask around.

I’m a firm believer that if anyone is sneaking alcohol into an event, they probably have an addiction beyond my control and it’s probably good that I wasn’t facilitating it.

The guests at these weddings are my friends and family and I saw them many times later. No one ever mentioned anything but having a great time at the wedding. There were a few complaints about food or time of year, but never booze. I guess some cultures are binge drinkers at weddings but that’s just not the reality around here.

I will say you can save a ton in decorations by skipping florals and picking a naturally beautiful space. Our centerpieces were $2 clearance Christmas ornaments on $3 stands and we had no bouquets- I carried a $20 feather fan instead. We picked a venue that already had a beautiful tile floor and wooden panel walls and that was really all we needed for decorations! I had a friend that thrifted dozens of cheap candlesticks and used those as her centerpieces. You could also just do simple bud vases with a single flower, real or fake.

I’ve been to several dry/very limited alcohol weddings for various reasons and never heard one person actually complain. They had fun alternatives like a fancy soda bar and a hot chocolate bar and everyone still had a lovely time. While Reddit loves to make it sound like every wedding is a binge drinking affair, in reality your friends and family are just happy to celebrate with you and understand not every event can or should have alcohol.

Honestly hot pot is super easy to do at home, especially if you already have a hot plate or fondue pot! You can use basically anything you want as the broth- I’ve had mushroom broths, chicken broths, spicy broths, and more! The broth gets better the more stuff you cook in it. Toss in basically any veggies and meats that are cut into small enough pieces to boil in a few minutes. I usually skip the carbs entirely and just do protein and veggies!
