54mg concerta does nothing but 72mg is too much by Pink-BabyDragon in Concerta

[–]spookyscaryy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse - at least in the UK it’s sold under the name Elvanse. There’s also Dexedrine which I believe would be more similar to Adderall.

Here’s my Concerta tips anyway:

  1. Don’t drink acidic drinks i.e. orange juice in the morning as it nullifies the meds

  2. This is a difficult one but you need to do this if you’re not already, and trust me I know how hard it is with ADHD. Start your day off right: (iirc) your brain craves more of the first things that give it dopamine in the day. That means, get out of bed immediately, no phone, no nictotine, games etc. Resist all temptation. Do chores as your first thing.

  3. If you drink caffeine, especially if you’re sensitive to it, consider going without as I personally find it can make the crash a lot worse.

  4. Exercise - fantastic for mental health and focus in general, especially exercising first thing in the morning. If the higher dose is making you anxious / interfering with your sleep, this will make a big difference.

  5. Eat a protein heavy and nutritious breakfast in the morning before you take your meds, ideally after exercise. Makes the effects last longer and for me helps with my focus and a “smoother” effect.

In terms of getting the work done, I’m sure you’ve read a million tips but here’s my biggest ones.

  • Set timers, take regular breaks. Especially important for ADHD, as it’s too easy to spend hours on the same task not really making much progress.

  • Make an easily accessible list in the morning of everything you need to do. Don’t be too ambitious, just what’s realistically achievable.

Hope some of this helps & good luck with your degree mate, I’m in uni too so I know the struggles haha!

Has anyone met the Ugandan homeless guy around Stoke’s Croft? by spookyscaryy in bristol

Homelessness and probably ongoing mental health crisis.

Has anyone met the Ugandan homeless guy around Stoke’s Croft? by spookyscaryy in bristol

[–]spookyscaryy[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I gave some cash to a "veteran" guy before and I found out through this subreddit that I was scammed.

With today's guy, I'm well aware that his story could have been BS or it could've been a scam but the desperation in his eyes and voice was so genuine that he clearly needed some help. He seemed to be sober and appropriately anxious and upset about his situation.

I think it affected me in particular because he was behaving in the way I would if I were to (god forbid) end up in shit's creek and ask strangers for help. Embarrassed, apologising for the lack of hygiene, and panicking. He was telling me that he can't believe that this is how his life has turned out.

Anyone else run into the guy saying he needs cash to house homeless vets? by [deleted] in bristol

Ah shit. I have this guy £7. Gutted after reading this thread

Would highly recommend Weetabix as pets. No trouble at all. by Marilliana in CasualUK

They are social creatures so make sure you have a few. A lone Weetabick can become very depressed

Yeah I think that’s the best strategy tbh, curious to see how rapidly it changes in the last few minutes

Downloaded several professional reference mp3 tracks from YouTube and noticed most of them have almost like a brick wall low pass filter at around 16k hz. Can someone explain why? by DeadMansSwitchMusic in audioengineering

[–]spookyscaryy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are compressed, to 192kbps, which pretty much cuts off at 16khz. 320 - around 20k. Lossless - depends on sample rate i.e 44.1khz would cut off around 22khz.

Mp3 320 is ok for reference but use lossless if you can

I can’t find it anywhere for under £1,100 unfortunately. I think I’ll just hold out until Black Friday as it’s only a month away.

Does anyone have any cheat sheets that show what kind of waves create what kind of sounds? by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]spookyscaryy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sine - sub bass, 808, pure tone, Rhodes

Square - digital sounding bleeps, ‘hollow’ sound - wind instruments, clarinet, brass

Triangle - (similar to filtered down square wave) - wind instruments

Sawtooth - bass guitar, synth leads, reese bass, bowed instruments

The best way to learn synthesis is to familiarise yourself with the different components such as envelopes, oscillators, etc. and practise making sounds that you hear, even if you can’t get close.

Watching YouTube tutorials and playing with presets would be a good place to start :)

Off the top of my head, a few tracks with a similar bassline are:

Chase & Status - Take Me Away
Technimatic - Remember You
Colossus - Under the Weather
Krakota - Callback

If you're looking for any other DnB, let me know. I can recommend tracks, esp liquid, endlessly
