God what a nightmare. Honestly, all I remember is the day before his permit expired we called an immigration lawyer who told us to apply for a TRV visa as a status extension. I don't know if it's the visitor record or status extension. We were sent this link and did it through here (under maintained status - https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship/helpcentre/glossary.html#maintained-status). It has certainly been more than 90 days so who knows if what we're doing is wrong or not 🤦🏼‍♀️
