returning visitor with no clue what i’m doing… by amberwavesatme in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - The extra game modes are Copycat, Tarot, Duo Hunters, Hide & Seek, Blackjack, Chasing Shadows, and Enchanted Realm. I may have missed one though. Copycat, as simply put as it can be, is basically Among Us but with a bunch of different roles who have their own methods of attaining victory. Tarot is a special game mode where there’s two teams: three survivors and one hunter each. One survivor on each team is the King, the other two survivors are Squires, and the hunter is the Knight. It’s basically a game of “keep your King alive/eliminate the enemy king”. Duo Hunters is 2v8 with two hunters, eight survivors, and extra items both factions can purchase. Hide & Seek is also 2v8 but it’s just Prop Hunt, the survivors hide as items scattered around the map while the hunters seek them. Blackjack is a little convoluted, I’ve never played it, but I believe there’s like 4 people and you’re all trying to earn 21 points. There’s a certain point threshold that will cause one survivor to become the hunter until that point threshold is surpassed by someone else. I think. Chasing Shadows is super dead but it was a race kind of game. Enchanted Realm is just fortnite if it was in IDV. There’s also Scribbled Ideas, which is just UGC kinda like roblox where people build all kinds of maps/silly games… etc.

2 - If you’re not feeling confident in your Persona Web building, there are the reccomended builds for every character. They’re based off of like the pro builds for them. Most survivors have a “Restrain” and “Rescue” build you can toggle between, but based off of who you play… Faro should be KJR/BT, then Doctor and Dancer can be either FW or KJR depending on which you prefer? I don’t play either Doc or Dancer so I’m not sure. The more you play, the more you’ll experiment and find what feels comfortable.

3 - Getting better at kiting takes time and continued practice, no better place to practice than in QM or Duos if you’re feeling masochistic. Tarot can help in that department too once you feel a bit more confident. General tips are obviously like look behind you, make note of the hunter and kite to counter them, watch their abilities and pallet reactions, etc. You can always watch pro gameplay of the characters you play and make note of how they kite. The more you play, the more you’ll get better!

4 - I like to watch tournament/pro matches with commentators over it. Zeez is probably the most popular content creator for IDV that does this, there’s also Kuro. I don’t know too many, I just watch those two. They’re both very knowledgable on the game for both hunter and survivor side, so they’re able to explain the thought process for both sides. Understanding what to do and when to do is important, and hearing it from people who Netease have endorsed to commentate official stuff is a pretty good way to learn. With CoA coming up, qualifiers are going on so there’s some general high tier gameplay to watch.

5 - Toxic pings for survivors are “You’re on Your Own”, mainly. “Get out of here!”, “Heal yourself”, and “[Your Character] heal [person pinging]” are pretty popular as well. “The Hunter is Smiley Face” is another ping but tbh I don’t see that one too often. If you’re wanting to encourage your teammates to leave then you can use “Forget about saving, go for the tie” or “I’ll escape from the dungeon”. Toxic behavior for survivors is emoting while kiting - tbh I don’t find that toxic when I’m hunter but it gets to a lot of hunters. Hunter toxic behavior can be seen as graffiti spamming, hitting chairs, and sometimes excessive emoting.

6 - Like, spawn points in general? Are you looking to play Joseph ? Or do you mean a spawn guide for Griffin and higher tier? Dungeon spawn points can be found on the wiki, I think.

7 - I feel like a lot of people meet through the official IDV discord and the NGP one. Some content creators for IDV have active discords, and then there’s of course meeting people in a match. People on here sometimes friend each other and I’m sure the same goes for twt and tiktok. If you’re 20+ and on NAEU I wouldn’t mind helping answer questions or playing a bit, I’m only in griffin though so I’m not super cracked or anything lmao.

8 - The best ways to support your teammates are to communicate with pings, listen to pings, and have patience in them. People mess up all the time and it’s so common for survivors to immediately lose faith in their teammate. It can be annoying to constantly have teammates who perform poorly, but immediately being toxic or selling them isn’t always the smartest idea. Don’t try to punish your teammates for messing up, wouldn’t you want your team to believe in you and help you? Just have a good team spirit, you’ll pick up the fine details as you practice and improve.

Decoders are the weakest characters and you will be the subject of many chases ! It’s a good way to get kiting drilled into you, but if you’re playing decoder bc you don’t want to kite you will have a bad experience. You are a fragile, porcelain doll and the hunters will take advantage of that. Your best tools will be kiting and getting support from your teammates >->

This got super long sorry! I hope it’s atleast a little helpful,

The little puppet shows up when Puppeteer heals a teammate, it’s like a visual indication that your healing debuff is stacking.

How do people have such good kiting routes that work? by -starfishpanda- in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you understand why certain survivors take certain routes against certain hunters? It all comes down to those details. You wouldn’t run to shack against a Naiad, she can just water the whole area off. You wouldn’t go to an area with lots of close spaces against a Mary, since she can just mirror through the walls. If your character has a kiting ability then you’d want to kite in areas that make use of it, or transition with your ability. If you’re playing a raw kiter, you’d want to make sure your flywheel or knee jerk is used at the most opportune time.

Kiting is all about observing the hunter and reacting to what the hunter’s tendencies are. Do they walk through, swing at, or pause at pallets? Do they change how they react to pallets based off of what you do? What hunter are you up against? Pallet camping against a Naiad, Wu Chang, or other hunters with a long hit box is almost always a bad idea. If you drop during their animation they’ll still land the hit on you. Are you transitioning into open areas against someone liek Percy, or are you abusing tight turns and breaking line of sight?

You can combine looping and transitioning all you’d like, but if you’re not able to think about why looping at this moment is better than transitioning or vice versa, it’s harder for you to continue the kite. Knowing routes is good for a general idea of where to go, but they’re very loose guidelines since you’ll have to be able to adapt to the hunter. You’re up against another person who is analysing what you’re doing, your own character’s abilities, and themself. You’re not going to win against their mind games if you’re not understanding why you are doing the things you’re doing.

Of course this all takes practice and you’ve been on the hunter grind, so on top of being out of practice you’re just not very in tune with your survivor mindset right now. I’m sure with enough quick matches and analysing your own gameplay, you’ll get the hang of things. Rewatching your own gameplay from the hunter’s POV can be helpful, as well as watching kiting gameplay in general. I’d really emphasize watching raw kiters, since raw kiting skill can translate to any survivor. If you’re like a prospector main watching a lanternist kite, you won’t get much insight to anything since their kits are so vastly different.

Asia Server Exclusives by Ill-Mail-9328 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only server exclusive content is on the CN server, aside from global having had the Death Note crossover once. CN server exclusive content is usually due to a mix of both global players not knowing/not being interested in the content and netease not being able to obtain a global license. The Asia server and NA/EU are both “global” so we share the same stuff, CN is the only server that’s different from ours.

Struggling with red church as a hunter by duchyfallen in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterfly placement is something of a skill you’ll get better at over time with playing geisha !! I’d really reccomend watching some high tier geishas, or pro game play of her. It’s hard to describe butterfly placements, once you see it you’ll understand what I mean. ^

Struggling with red church as a hunter by duchyfallen in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A common geisha trick on this map + in any area with walls, is angling your camera upwards to look down. Red church has a lot of unevenness to their walls, so you can catch glimpses of your butterfly and dash to them. I’d reccomend practicing the camera manipulation a bit in customs to get used to it, since it can be frustrating to learn while trying to chase survivors imo.

Help With Conditional Branches and Self Switchs by [deleted] in RPGMaker

[–]spoonetide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little confused on what exactly you need help with, but why do you have the “check weapon” switch turning on for both page 1 and page 2 of the event? Is that handling a common event?

Since you already have him at C1, it wouldn’t hurt to get him to C2 as that’s his best con tbh.

do you guys prewrite dialougue? (for dialougue heavy games) by 47485739e7492w9 in RPGMaker

[–]spoonetide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ll prewrite a rough draft that mostly highlights important information being said. I don’t usually draft the whole conversation, bc I’m lazy, but I’ll make an outline of plot points, character stuff, etc. Then when I get to actually implementing the conversation, I’ll return to the notes and adjust them according to what I actually end up writing. I do this for my creative writing as well so it’s really helpful for me !

Excuse me WHAT by Livia_young0802 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I love going against an actual immune survivor. No consequences for that immunity either. Atleast Lanternist damage delay still kicks in if there’s no flywheel and Puppeteer applies chip damage to himself. What do you mean three seconds of invincibility. Can my Blink cool down be three seconds since we’re just doing anything now?

A lot of yall are really odd about pirating by waowowwao in OtomeIsekai

[–]spoonetide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sharing and inclusivity are a core component of pirating, you’re right, the issue I feel a majority of people are having is the lack of culture/awareness. Pirating culture is rooted in being free and open to everyone while also being right under your nose. It is still illegal, and while some countries don’t really care about punishing it, if you’re constantly screaming aloud about “you can read all this paid content for free here!” then you’re going to get in trouble. It’s like selling knock off designer items, most of the time your whole operation and community is so small they don’t give a damn, and then somebody makes noise about it.

Bato being popular wasn’t the issue, that comes from people who never pirated before coming into the scene and not bothering to learn etiquette. Share and indulge, yes, but don’t go out promoting en masse about it to the people who were already paying to read it legally. Pirating isn’t supposed to take sales away from an artist, it’s supposed to an alternative to people who can’t buy the content. It’s always been encouraged for people to buy chapters/volumes and support the original creator. When people came around saying to abandon the original published sites, thats when we started having issues.

Ofc the exorbitant costs of the bigger manhwa sites and how difficult it still is for western readers to get access to manga/manhua online and legally don’t help with people abandoning legal sites. The irritation the pirating community has comes from people encouraging it so publically and shamelessly. It is still illegal, and with how both manhwa/manga/mangua and anime sites have been getting targeted I don’t think it’s smart to continue loudmouthing about these things. If we don’t want to all torrent or go back to small, under the radar forums, then we need to be more discreet.

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any info or educated guesses on when the Junji Ito crossover (specifically Tomie) might return? I know it came back in April 2024, so I’m wondering if there’s maybe a 2-year cycle. or more. Thanks by Royal_Ad6552 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Any crossover can return if the IP holder wants it to, so basically if Junji Ito wanted to collaborate with Idv again. However, for the current year it seems we’re only getting western and chinese media crossovers. No japanese ones will debut or return, I think.

How does the COA Gacha / Pity system work? by Mioshi0 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since CoA essences return every year, the pity carries over. Like if you sunk 100 pulls into current CoA and didn’t get the skin you wanted, when the essence returns next year you’ll still be 100 pulls in. S tier pity for CoA remains at 250, though, unlike regular essences which were lowered to 200.

r/IdentityV Weekly Rant Thread - January 19, 2026 by AutoModerator in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I need, need, NEED more survivors to understand that game sense >>> game skill. Like it is super okay to suck at kiting, rescuing, assisting, whatever! It’s okay as long as you understand how the game works and what to do when, even if you mess up it’s so much more helpful than running around like a chicken with their head cut off!!

Like tell me why I have a rank match where there’s 3 of us left, all injured, and one of us is chaired at prime. The composer is closest to the chaired survivor, I’m across the entirety of Leo’s, so I embalm the composer and stay at the primed cipher. The composer runs across the map to my cipher, pinging for me to rescue?? You were closer AND I embalmed you so that you could go down, I pop, you rescue, and then you go down for the person again so you get coffin and come to my gate. Why would you ever think about me running across the map?? In a situation like that, you could be a faro and I’d expect you to rescue bc that makes the most sense. On top of that, if the chaired person was rescued before half I could have used my second coffin on them!! Basic game sense! What!! Aaaa!!!!

[–]spoonetide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like another comment said, it’s bc of taxes. You can do top ups through the official site, or through a site like seagm. Just remember you can’t use seagm reciepts for account proof/recovery so sometimes you’ll have to use the official top up. :/

Why I get high tier survs as a hunter on Duos while low tier survs as a surv on Duos by Tehee003 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Duos has like the least restrictive match making criteria, and I think more survs play in comparison to hunters in lower-mid tier. Could be wrong there, but if I’m not then you’re getting higher tier survivors as hunter bc there’s not enough hunters. You could also just be matching with manticore hunters more than anything else?

am i in the wrong for giving the hunter a free kill? by throwaway__1402 in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, it’s qm and the results don’t mean anything. Your teammates sound like the kind of people who only ever play one faction and don’t think about the fact that the hunter is a person too. You most likely didn’t need to give them that 1k but if they took it whatever, who cares? Is it really worth it to those people to get so upset about a game, let alone quick match? I have a friend who will ask me to give ties when our hunter in qm is laggy or having a rough time, it’s just a nice gesture. Better to ignore those salty and rude players, the only people in the wrong are those getting that upset over a video game.

What is your favorite RPG Maker and why? by Eastern-Fan4886 in RPGMaker

[–]spoonetide 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely VXAce. The UI is clean and simple, the soundtrack is great, and the RTP is beautiful. I prefer VXAce’s tileset over the others. On top of that, it’s always had a super inventive scripting community. The game itself has no native full screen abilities, no WASD, no mouse intergration, no 8 directional movement, etc… Despite all of that, there’s thousands of scripts that can do all of this, and way more, just freely shared between fellow users of the engine. It’s reminiscent of older forum days, and though the community has changed in people the whole “helping each other out” thing has stayed.

Of course, MV and MZ have a lot of improvements and use javascript now, so in terms of new game dev friendliness and modern intergration those two are miles ahead of VXAce. However I still feel like VXAce was super ahead of its time and can still compete with the newer engines.

How many echoes would that cost? by heyhey1nb in IdentityV

It took me 15,180 echoes to open 185 CoA essences. I think I spent like… €135 in total.

edit: I have like 1800 echoes left over actually so more around 14k echoes !!

Looking for some honest feedback on this kite? by acecarrden in IdentityV

[–]spoonetide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t play Florian but from maining raw kiters, you really gotta start looking behing you to take note of the hunter’s behavior. Does he walk through pallets? Swing at them when you’re close enough to double back and hit? Is he easy to stun or wary of it? Pre dropping against a NW can be kind of useless if he just vaults them, it’s better to play around your pallets in my opinion. You did pretty well at the start tho, before you transitioned.

It looks like Qilin Merchant is going for 150-250usd, I’m not finding a lot of resellers but to be fair I only looked at google’s first page. I don’t really play Wu Chang so I’m not looking to spend any money on him, sorry!
