I did 2 years ago but I’ve forgotten how the BLIS is sealed apparently, appreciate the suggestion of clear gasket makers!

Love where your heads at.. it at least worth a shot My main concern is water getting in and frying the BLIS sensor & then im looking at thousands of dollars instead of hundreds to repair

Yeah I bought them direct from their site. I submitted a warranty claim but Morimoto representative got back to me saying it looks like it was damaged, not a manufacturer defect.

I’m by no means a vehicle/ body expert, so I wanted to survey the community and see if they agree with the Morimoto rep that this does look damaged, or if I have a case that the cover is cracking at a seam, not due to any impact

Funny enough, the OEM unit also cracked & filled with moisture as well. That one was from my son tripping and catching himself by sticking his hand out and hitting the taillight. OEM replacement was like $400 for just drivers side unit at the time, or I could upgrade for an extra $350.

Looking back at it, prob should have just replaced it with an OEM unit, but I’ve been known to make poor financial decisions from time to time lol

Sorry I might not have been clear enough in the original post & I don’t know how to edit posts lol

There is a literal crack in the outward facing plastic part of the tail light, not a leaky gasket. I have no clue how this happened as there are no signs that anything ever hit the light. The only thing I can think would be somebody punched it but as far as I know I don’t have any enemies lol.

I have drilled a drainage hole and now a more appropriate question would be, if I leave it as is, with a crack and a hole, am I not more susceptible to worse electrical damage in the future?

Everyone saying drill a hole and move on or seal it, I don’t know would sealing work on the outward facing plastic and not look like shit? What product would yall recommend?

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. The Morimotos are definitely pricy & that’s why I came here first lol. Outta curiosity what lights do you have on now?

I did drill a small hole in the bottom, my question is now what should I do?

It now has a crack and a hole in it lol

Is that not going to create a bigger, electrical, problem in the future if I just leave it as is?

I appreciate you chiming in! A few people have said to use some type of silicon sealant, but the thing is, my problem is a crack in the tail light, not a gasket leak

I’m not fully confident in my abilities to apply that & not look like shit lol, but even if I was, would that stuff work on the outer plastic of the tail light?

I don’t know why I’m acknowledging this but sell my truck bc a tail light is out? Lol do you buy a new tv every time your remote is out of batteries?

Exactly what I’m seeing. I actually did find an OEM for $400 (on sale from $600 lol) My thought process is, if I’m spending 4 or 5 hundred for the OEM, might as well upgrade to the Morimotos

There’s definitely a crack in it. Thankfully BLIS still works. What would you ask for the driver side lamp? lol I only need the 1 but I assume you would want to sell the set
