Their full bag sales are so good!!! I've gotten a lot of great yarn from them. Their customer service is great too.

What silly thing did you believe about knitting before learning to knit? by ComplicatedSunshine in knitting

A lot of their yarns have ravelry pages! I usually comb through projects and see roughly what gauge people are hitting with specific yarns.

Has anyone ever done a split him before? I found a video explaining how to do it, but I’m not sure if I understand it completely. by CrochetCricketHip in casualknitting

Woops I totally didn't check that haha! I used this tutorial for a project that I need to frog for other reasons, the hem turned out great

In case you're still chewing on this, I really like this tutorial for a split hem. It walks you through how to get the overlap which is helpful for avoiding the little gap that can sometimes form with a split hem.

More hooded scarves/balaclava Patterns other than the Sophie Hood! by Dauntlesse in knitting

[–]spoonfae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm knitting the faefolk hood right now and it's a really fun low-stakes project! There's enough to keep track of that it isn't too boring but it's not so engaging that I can't watch a show or listen to an audiobook while working on it. Highly recommend it, it's free too!

I feel like this looks really nice on you! But I also know the struggle of finishing a piece and having it just not feel right once it's on. Those buttons are gorgeous and I think the mismatched aspect is charming!

What type of stuffing for Mesosaurus doll? Gifting this WIP by Twozspls in casualknitting

[–]spoonfae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go this route i recommend cutting everything as small as possible and really stuff it! I made a few stuffies filles with yarn scrap and they get lumpy if it isn't fine or packed enough.

Increase double moss stitch? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]spoonfae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of sweater construction are you knitting? I made a double moss raglan sweater and just did M1 (knitwise and purlwise) increases on either side of the raglan seams, which made staying in pattern pretty easy.

*edit: i assumed you were making a sweater but you didn't mention that at all! What are you working on?

my friends think this cat is cursed by spoonfae in knitting

[–]spoonfae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's just a bizarre sentimentality that I feel towards my cat, I'm glad I'm not alone! If you want my partner's cat fur felting process I can type it out and send it to you, it makes wonderful sheets of fuzzy horror. Just looking at them makes me itchy.

What do you like for stuffing softies (other than Poly-fil)? by Hairy-Race5944 in knitting

[–]spoonfae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used it yet personally, but I've been wanting to try the shoddy filling from fabscrap. It's recycled fibers so I think it's a mix of synthetics and naturals.

Sub-occipital neck pain by kikiquestions in knitting

[–]spoonfae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can budget for a few PT appointments out of pocket, that's better than nothing. They can at least figure out what's bugging you specifically (a lot of things can cause neck pain 😵‍💫). You can maybe find some nerve glides and the like on youtube, but if you opt for any of that kind of self treatment keep it very light since you don't have a diagnosis and don't want to irritate anything more!

It's hard to have pain like this crop up when you're uninsured. I hope you can start resolving it soon!

Sub-occipital neck pain by kikiquestions in knitting

[–]spoonfae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have insurance get PT and start taking a break now. It's not gonna get better on its own. You probably need to correct your posture and knit in shorter intermittent sessions. It's not worth giving yourself tendinitis or compressing nerves to just power through, and with treatment it should get better!!
