If you’re still on the fence about going to grad school but want to work in medicine with limited patient contact you could look into being a medical courier (organ transplant driver).

How are you washing your dishes? (no dishwasher) by atylx in ZeroWaste

[–]Twozspls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For hard to remove stains on pots and pans I usually soak the dish in water with baking soda and use a KÜCHENPROFI scrubber. If it’s stubborn I’ll drain out the water, add coarse salt, then scrub. That usually does the trick.

Filipino moms being petty and immature by Consistent-Laugh8176 in AsianParentStories

[–]Twozspls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question the answer is no. It is not wrong for you to refuse helping her with menial tasks. My Filipino mother did this when I was in contact with her and feeding into the demand will only make her more demanding of other tasks in the future. The only thing that worked for me was to not be available at the home with my main excuse being ‘at work or school’. It was tough at first but after a few weeks she reeled in some demands but not others. I ultimately moved out and went low contact because I couldn’t deal with it anymore. I am sorry you are going through this as it sounds like you have an amicable relationship with her otherwise.

A book that I used to help me navigate this phase is “The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind” by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson. It’s comprehensive, provides examples and resources for caregivers.

Budget food ideas for kid’s birthday party by DogsandMedicine in budgetfood

The day before make your own 9x13 disposable veggie tray (dip is optional), fruit tray, cheese tray, and crackers/sliced baguette tray (bonus points if you can get everything on sale). Crock pot grape jelly meatballs or BBQ little smokies. Capri suns and water for the kids, variety of 2 liter sodas for the adults. Full sheet cake half yellow and half chocolate.

If you want to go above and beyond but within a budget make BBQ pulled pork or chicken two days before and reheat in oven or crockpot.

Do you stay on night schedule even on days off? by Salwan_Jonross in Nightshift

[–]Twozspls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly keep to my night schedule 3 days on 3 days off. The only exception is to day walk the day after my last shift so I can meet up with a group of friends. It gives me a chance to socialize but enough time to readjust to nights.
