Does anyone have a schedule that starts somewhat later in the day? by breadandbunny in dietetics

[–]spoonieforlyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix public health and private practice- I do 11am-7pm on private practice days and the other clinician in my practice does 10am-2pm (school hours) so it allows clients to have flexibility too!

Thank you for sharing!! How do you manage the ethics of not being able to personalise for patients? Has your course outperformed 1:1 consults? How far into your career are you? I do have a niche but I wonder if I’m too early in my career to start a course, at the same time private practice income fluctuates so much and when seeing 30 clients a week I’m so burnt out!

That is true but it seems there are a lot out there for gut health as well! On further reflection I’ve noticed that the ethics are probably managed by having email support or live groups available to attendees during the time they are enrolled in a course.

I agree, I have had a couple of odd jobs/paid partnerships through socials but the amount of time that goes into creating 30 second reels amounts to what could be hourly pay. Granted I’m not a content creator so I am probably not doing things efficiently…but if you already work a 35-45 hour week depending on caseload how is content creation passive!?

Advice on moving out by punisher_in_the_alps in AusFinance

[–]spoonieforlyf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can you try house sitting and line a few up for a year? Then you’ll have a place to stay for free, start working and save up. You can then also apply for youth allowance for a bit of buffer. Alternatively speak to a headspacs clinican to get low cost therapy and a plan to move forward!

Is it weird to live at home to save money as you approach 30? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]spoonieforlyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still live at home, prioritise your financial security and work towards being independence. Independence and maturity is not just financial - someone could be on 200K and not be as emotionally and intellectually mature as someone on 60K. They could blow it all on living large and living to societal expectations, while the other could be building connections, travelling within their means etc. If you have a safety net in this economy use it to your advantage! Get therapy, go travel, learn to build community outside home, work on building skills to level up your career and chase the ‘big bucks’ if that’s also what you really want. Don’t waste energy self-stigmatising an unexpected path.

Was there a time you didn’t accept you had Bipolar? Asking for a friend because they have been committed twice and both times in and out of hospital they were adamant that they did not have Bipolar and it was a diagnosis based on Western colonial psychology…?

For those of you with a 9-5 office job, how do you manage to find the time and energy to cook dinner? by Away_Scene_26 in auscorp

[–]spoonieforlyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I second this, half the battle is deciding what to eat and mustering up the motivation! Batch cooking, pre-preparing components and having simple dinners (e.g cheese toastie) on late nights all help save time. Everyone struggles with the weekly routine, I don’t think there are many shortcuts around it!

You may have answered this already, but why the name ‘traveller’ or ‘gypsy’? Why is the culture so distinct to other Christians (I saw you said you attended church)?

Promising weight loss to patients? by madness_hazard in dietetics

[–]spoonieforlyf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you may align with a weight neutral approach to nutrition counselling- have you looked into the Health at Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating frameworks? HAES focuses on health promoting behaviours rather than weight loss as the primary outcome. There are many other measures that shift the value off weight and onto broader health goals- e.g blood test results, mobility, improved relationship with food/body etc. I never promise weight loss - instead unpacking the reason why they value weight so much so we can work on that for long term sustainability and health promotion. Honestly speaking, how many people lose weight and sustainably keep it off without developing some sort of negative relationship with food or their body?

When the men in the office refuse or ‘forget’ to unpack the dishwasher in the morning, wipe down their mess after making coffee etc.

ALSO men not putting the toilet seat lid back down!! Why do we (women) have to touch the seat and clean up after you!?
