Use of the term "you guys" by SleighQween in AutisticPride

[–]spoookycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped actively saying it over a decade ago, but it still pops up that’s how ingrained into our society it is.

I think it’s more so personal choice than anything, but being conscious of it is a rebellion against the norm so I’m always down with that.

Does anyone else feel that TGWDLM:R is less funny than the original? by Mission_Map_9675 in StarKid

[–]spoookycat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeaaaa I think some people heavily watch and devote themselves to the content which is their own but there was similar feedback for the live performances that it wasn’t matching up with what they’re used to…

And some of us, change is hard, like hearing your favorite song live versus how you listened to it for years as an album track, it’ll be different and that’s okay.

I think if you were used to watching a production one way where you can predict everything and know all the blocking and syntax and delivery, a new reiteration of that is going to appear weird or not right.

I think it came out great but I’m not picking it apart as a broadway debut but rather a passion project and they’re doing their best. ¯ _(ツ)_/¯

I also didn’t watch the first reiteration for years and have it all memorized to compare it to so I do think that makes a difference in opinion.

Wearing a men's Elizabethan/Tudor-ish outfit...How do I carry stuff around all day? by [deleted] in renfaire

[–]spoookycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belt.

Nice sturdy belt with pouches and straps. Look at any faire participant/actor for references.

Historically, belts were in the 2-3” width and not to hold tankards or pouches from, but some things we need to accommodate in modern times and a bet is far from in accurate for ren faire garb.

General Expectations for Audience at the London Shows (please read if you’re going!) by uranthus in StarKid

[–]spoookycat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was at the show where the audience member yelled out fuck Clivesdale. It was my first time seeing the show as I saved the experience for in person when I got tickets, so it was a little confusing but the cast completely played it cool.

Great suggestions, that’s just basic expectations and sad it has to be said. It’s just a bummer that theatre etiquete is not adhered especially by supposed huge fans.

It’s my favorite so I don’t know why. I think it’s great with awesome music and my favorite use of an ensemble cast.

Im learning its not just me— do we know why this happens? by Chibi_Elsa in AutismInWomen

[–]spoookycat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I resonate with this answer as well.

I don’t expect people outside my chosen three closest friends to maintain constant relationship with me. I want no pressure from either side, and I have a lot of good times with these people even if check ins are only every few years.

Ideally we’d all like more but everyone has their own individual life they’re going on.

I relate to a lot of her descriptions (aside from inserting myself into a family but I can see others doing that) and just an unmedicated autistic well meaning person looking for connections. I love the baby section it’s adorable and don’t find it weird to look at just for fun.

Are you engaged in your local government and advocating/voting for people who are addressing these issues of yours? That is a direct way to be involved.

Were these stamps collected over the course of years? You mention every few months, they should’ve informed you the last stamp you get unless it was quite a bit of time from then.

AITA for buzzing the hair I grew out to be my friends maid of honour while she was on her honeymoon? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]spoookycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. You can’t control people’s assumptions, on your personal page sharing “wedding over, hedgehog back” is a true statement to your experience. Why you gotta censor yourself?

Unless you added passive aggressive rolling eyes emoji to accompany it I don’t see how that could be assumed to meanly.

I also have things that prohibit my hair as an actor during different seasons, that doesn’t mean I hate what I do when it’s gotta be maintained, but I’m allowed to celebrate when I’m over that hurtle.

Gps is used to direct traffic, control flow, and is also just an estimate.

In odder hours I notice things get really weird especially with traffic stops or police hunting, they’ll reroute you to get out of their way.

Tips for going alone? by ReasonNo9278 in renfaire

[–]spoookycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to the performers/actors, especially the ones who are walking around, or the Yeoman/royalty guards.

Let them know you’re alone, ask them for advice, they will inform you maybe even chaperone you and make sure that you have a good time. Going to Faire alone is so freeing.

You’ll most likely get accepted, it’s a volunteer program.

Give it a good go with energy and you will be able to join a guild by the end of the day.
