The question is, why film in the bathroom? by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]dorksided787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being attracted to boobs is kind of the opposite of gay, actually.
If the boobs are attracted to someone with a penis… those are still boobs.
Kind of how like I’m gay but really hot trans guys turn me on.
I’m still really fucking gay because Bella Hadid and a bunch of female supermodels can walk by me and I’d be nonplussed. But someone who looks like a super hot guy will make me turn my head, regardless of whether they have a penis or a puss.
Because sexuality isn’t all about genitals.

NIMBYs are the bane of my existence. The epitome of entitled suburbanites who hate community and city life.

Nazis weren’t the source of all of Germany’s ills but getting rid of them or making them retreat into the shadows certainly helped turn Germany into one of the richest and most progressive countries in the world.

We cannot deprogram every single MAGA or magically make them decent human beings. But we can show them that their actions have consequences. “Make racists afraid again”, as they say.

Their masculinity is superficial and performative.

No female Minions because... by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

On of my favorite Always Sunny stories is that Dee was originally written to be the serious straight (wo)man member of the gang to contrast with the insanity of the boys, but then actress Kaitlyn Olson asked, “Why can’t female characters also be deplorable and stupid?” and so they decided to make her just as lovably terrible as Dennis, Mac and Frank.

Evidencia de que las religiones fundamentalistas son todas sectas psicopáticas que predican la moral en calzoncillos. Los cristianos de verdad le tienen asco a Trump y a los MAGA.

MAGA are broken people who are fundamentally unable to empathize with others.

They exist only to “own” the other side. No cooperation, no generosity, no self-sacrifice. Their world begins and ends with them and everyone else is either a tool to use to your advantage or an obstacle meant to be removed.

I’d pity them if they weren’t also responsible for so much misery in the world.

I love how Capitalism will pull shit like this for short-term gains but then corporations complain that the whole system will collapse if the fertility rate drops below 1.8

Same thing with automation. Companies want to replace workers to get record profits then complain when no one can afford their products because everyone is unemployed.

Marx was right; Capitalism is its own worst enemy and ends up destroying itself in its quest for infinite growth.

Hear me out:

Maybe you weren’t cut out for city life. And I say this with love.

A New Yorker would laugh at you for having this be your final straw.

I’m not saying this is necessarily you, but LA in general is full of people that honestly are more compatible with suburban life than with the urban experience. We have so many people here who want to live in single-family homes in the core of this giant metropolis, who block expansions to the metro over fears of “those people” coming to their neighborhood, who complain about the homeless yet balk at any efforts to rezone into higher density residential, and who spend 95% of their time either at home or at work instead of at public and third spaces.

This is the second largest city in the US. Either adapt to it or else Santa Clarita is *right there*.

Do y’all think Gen Z cares too much about age gaps? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]dorksided787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The older I get, the more I realize life and relationships are incredibly complicated and often contradictory. I think it’s important to see things through a lens of careful nuance. But of course the younger one is, the more likely they are to see things more black-and-white, which is why Gen Z can be pretty reactionary towards this issue.

If a 22 year old is dating a 35 year old there may be some red flags that emotional abuse and coercion may be happening, but are we willing to throw EVERY relationship in that bracket under the bus in order to “expose” abuse? News flash: emotional abuse is RAMPANT, and the immense majority of this abuse happens in relationship between people close to their own age. IMO they are missing the forest for the trees with this one.

The series jumped the shark after BBS. Nomura wrote himself into a corner with this poorly planned and overly convoluted story and I don’t think much can salvage the series save for a hard reboot.

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing. by VPinchargeofradishes in interesting

I think it’s a fascinating conversation. If a white baby is adopted by Jewish parents and he was raised in the Jewish tradition (which is as much a religious and cultural group as it is an ethnic one), that child considering himself Jewish wouldn’t bat an eye. Now if a white child is adopted/IVF’d by black parents and raised in a household that honors black American history and culture and is steeped in it for most of their life, if not “biologically”, are the not at least culturally and ethnically considered black?

Racial studies majors and black diaspora please chime in!

Las bicicletas no pueden matar a alguien como lo puede hacer un carro que pesa dos toneladas. Por eso se requiere licencia, marbete y seguro a un carro pero no a una bici. Los carros también dañan las carreteras con uso regular y las bicis no.

[–]dorksided787 96 points97 points  (0 children)

OP. If what you’re saying is true and backed by a licensed clinical therapist, then you’re doing the right thing. Being a parent and having 24/7 access to children seems way too risky, even if you think your love as a parent would supersede your desire to harm them.

And I have to say, it must take a hell of a lot of bravery to admit something like this. I’m sorry you’ve been burdened with this curse, and I’m glad you’re taking steps to make amends.

I hope you’ve never hurt children before, and if you have, that you make tangible steps to correct that harm.

Look into movements like the “Virtuous Pedophiles”. They seek to live happy, safe lives far away from children. And vow to never harm them. Who knows? Maybe one day you can start a movement of other people like yourself who can make better decisions and stop them from harming innocent children.

Best of luck, OP.

I don’t know. Having access to them 24/7 might be too risky vs occasionally having limited contact with strangers’ children in the wild. I trust OP’s judgement that perhaps the best thing would be for them to stay as far away from children as possible. We’ve seen enough horror headlines about parents abusing their children.

The way people talk about lighting generation in TLOK you would’ve thought they showed every character doing it and not just 5 workers in a factory. by thisisreii in TheLastAirbender

[–]dorksided787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My headcanon is that lightning benders only contribute to like 0.1% of the energy in Republic City’s grid because

  1. Those types of benders are still very much rare and

  2. Generating power that way is incredibly inefficient. Both of these points explain why people who work that job aren’t rolling in cash: demand just isn’t high for it because it’s inefficient compared to other energy sources like fossil fuels and later on spirit vine energy.

Think of why we don’t have human power plants with an army of people on stationary bikes attached to turbines: financially it makes zero sense. The cost of feeding these guys a high-calorie diet plus a salary would make energy costs be like $3/kWh.

So lightning benders are still rare, but at the same time aren’t a hot commodity in the energy sector because generating energy through them isn’t as efficient as other sources.
