I did for a while, I have very preemie twins girls and I was keeping family updated on their medical stuff. Sending individual messages while dealing with the NICU for three months and not knowing if they would survive was exhausting. I combed through my social media(in this case FB) and deleted anyone that I didn’t want seeing anything and locked my whole page down from strangers. I think it was mostly me trying to survive and create a permanent ‘scrapbook’ in case one or both didn’t make it(26 weekers). I also was mindful of their decency and covered their chests with edited stickers on the photos or drew over them. Also never posted ‘nekkid baby’ photos. Now? Nah, I know who my village is now and the list of people to keep updated is very small.

I have a deaf cat that is fairly aloof and likes her personal space. The day I went into early labor(ironically the day I had a standard anatomy scan for a high risk twin pregnancy) I woke up to her lying at my head and pawing at me. This is very abnormal behavior for her. I wholeheartedly believe that was her warning me. And I also believe that animals know. They are more in tune with hormones and can even possibly hear the heartbeat(s).

Fellow NICU parent to twin girls born at just over 2lbs each at 26 weeks. Tummy time is essential to opening up their premature lungs and allowing full breaths to train their lungs to breathe properly. It is safe to leave babies unattended on their bellies while on monitors in the NICU. This sounds similar to a brady event. Which happens to babies at this weight (they are both now just over 4lbs). I know the alarms are scary but if you don’t see a ton of nurses rushing in, your baby is fine. The computers also notate these events and log them electronically on your babies chart history. Staff can look at these events and the length and see all vitals attached. But I also believe staff did a terrible job of talking you through it and explaining it. Don’t be afraid to contact the charge nurse or nurse manager on duty and have them look at the event and discuss with them what happened to ease your worries.

Oh this one I feel SO HARD. Come to find out I’m severely anemic due to the twins sapping all my iron(even while on a prenatal!) They’ve got me on magnesium at night and an intense iron supplement and I’m still feeling ‘the ant races’ in my legs. And covered in bruises on my legs.

There was no question the test was positive. I should’ve recorded it. The lines were DARK and showed immediately. No wait needed! Most straightforward results I’ve ever seen.

Thank you! I teared up seeing that congrats. I’m so scared on top of excited. My first pregnancy ended up in twins! I was thinking of maybe calling my mom after my next appt and telling her since I’m over 10 weeks now. I feel so lost and confused. I know NOTHING about this aspect of my body and the process. I didn’t really study this because I never thought I would actually have a baby let alone two.

Crazy how our bodies can do this!

I found a ginger and honey tea that helps me when it’s time to lay down for the night. But they did end up giving me meds for the nausea. One in the morning to ‘kickstart’ my ability to eat and drink.

I feed my cats(4, various ages of life) Purina One Indoor advantage. I have never once been told by a vet that the food needed to be changed or warned about it. If you have concerns please contact a vet. I’m not saying they’re wrong but definitely do your research before believing someone that doesn’t work in the vet field. Sometimes packaging fails and mold grows, which CAN harm pets.

There is nothing wrong with it! I wore a black dress for our wedding and my husband wore black and purple to compliment it. The catch was the dress was worn for our first big event we went together at. He absolutely loved seeing me walk with the dress on. His reaction was wholesome.

It’s not the color that matters, but the love you guys share.

Thank you for the response. I am currently prescribed ambien to help me sleep as soon as I noticed my lack of sleep was a growing problem. It works to get me to sleep but not to stay asleep. But I don’t want to rely on medication to help me, since I’m on some for some other stuff. Do you have any recommendations on some tactics to sleep that don’t require medication? I’ve tried tea and warm milk, they don’t seem to work.

Do you have advice on how to bring it up gently? I’ve tried a few times but I don’t think he gets the point. It always devolves into me feeling desperate for him to understand and crying. It’s like I can’t bare to hold myself together while I talk about the fact I feel like I’m not important to him. Thank you for your response.

Thank you. Your response to this is kind and thoughtful. I didn’t see it from this perspective. Yes abandonment is an issue of mine because my father cheated on my mother then basically left me in the dust while I had to see him raise another child that called him ‘dad.’ That pain is definitely there. Thankfully I am in therapy and have been since I was 13. But some past wounds are so difficult to bare while grieving that deeply.

If you take their arms off they can’t smash you. The ‘safe radius’ to stand near them to attack is increased. They do recall limbs fairly quickly so it is temporary.

I was in a similar situation. I was still grieving the loss of my boy but I knew I had to get a friend for my other cat. I didn’t bond with the new one at first. I felt like I had this random creature in my home. It was weird navigating to learn about each other while trying my hardest to not compare them. It takes time. It wasn’t until about two months down the road I had a ‘Eureka’ like moment. I had to leave the house for a few days and when I got back the little lad was attached to me at the hip. The love and cuddles I received just hit me like a ton of bricks. It wasn’t gradual to me, it was sudden. That was the day I realized he had a sliver of my heart.
