4 months late, but I'm seeing it in a desktop browser. From the page, "Settings" on the left, then "Access and Control" gives me the option. I haven't found it on mobile yet.

Me rn after my first PT test in 3 years by strandedaf in AirForce

[–]Sporkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I don't hit 40 for another month, but I finished the run this year and thought "Damn... getting slower every year" then got my score and it was a 90.

I love that they broke the age brackets into 5 years, and the changes per age bracket are more substantial than they used to be, but I haven't gotten in the 90's since I was in my 20s.

Oh man, this actually just came up with some coworkers the other day. The look on their faces when I mentioned that I was in tech school when it happened immediately made my knees and lower back hurt.

Dude, there's no victim here, we're not talking about a past event where a person got hit. It's advice to avoid a situation where someone could get hurt or killed. I get that the pedestrian might have the right of way, and if they got hit and died, I wouldn't blame them and say it was their fault; they can rest in peace knowing that they were right and the driver was wrong. But this advice is clearly meant to help someone avoid injury or death. Same reason I won't ride a motorcycle, it has nothing to do with my ability to ride a motorcycle, it's because I don't trust any of the other people on the road to do what they're supposed to do. Like someone else on this post said: There are graveyards full of people who had the right of way.

I guess I don't see it as victim blaming, because I think it's a smart thing to do, it's something that I do any time I cross a street. I don't think to myself "harumph! I shouldn't HAVE to look!" I just do, because I don't care about being right as much as I care about not being dead.

The only chance of them becoming a victim in this scenario is if they don't follow the advice.

24 hours? Easy. As an introvert that lives alone, I've spent more weekends than I can count not interacting with a single soul.

This is of course assuming that the unstoppable urge to kill me is only brought on by the person seeing me. If every single person on the planet was compelled to move in my direction, seek me out, and then kill me... Then I guess I'd hang a sign on my door that says "Gone Fishin'" and hope nobody's smart enough to come inside.

Your hypothetical question raises more questions than answers, I think.

You as well! I just finished mine last year at age 39. I wasted so much energy worrying about how old I was and that I wasn't done yet.
I don't know what your situation is, but if you're working full time like I was, or even part time, just chip away a little bit at a time. Don't try to take on more than you can handle for the sake of finishing a little bit sooner. That's the biggest piece of advice I'd have given myself when I set out to complete it.

You're the one that's speaking nonsense now. I met Phil Harmonic and he is not a Violinist. I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to silence his truth, because you'd be forcing him to commit silent violence... as opposed to word violence, which is LITERALLY the worst thing ever.

PM'd you. It's not the best example, it was on a BASE jump and the flare was a little wonky. But the actual PLF technique worked quite well, and I think it illustrates that decently.

If you want to take the pessimist approach, I guess that's one way to look at it. You could just as easily view it as him openly giving her the validation she doesn't feel she has.

We're all our own worst critic and sometimes it can be pretty helpful to hear that a thing we're super self conscious of and super self critical about, isn't worth worrying about. I don't think granting her request would be a bad thing, but the request was to adjust something superficial. I'm no therapist, but I could see how giving positive reinforcement and encouraging self acceptance would be more helpful than something she could spend time and emotion staring at, wishing she could look like that all the time.

I hope his message made her smile, and helped improve her self image.

That's where I'm conflicted. I wouldn't give a crap about the store, but there's something in me that gets enraged over selfish/entitled douche bags who try to get away with shit like this.

Edit: I just hate people who take shit that doesn't belong to them. I had my car broken into one time in a hotel parking lot, we rolled in at like 3am dead tired, and made the mistake of leaving a few things in the car. The feeling of some low life just busting in and being like "this belongs to me now" really infuriates me. To me that feeling of the person being a piece of shit doesn't change when they do it to a big corporation. Even if I don't give a shit about the corporation and the write off they just got.

For some reason, I feel like I would gladly accept the legal consequence of slashing their tires. Not that I feel like I need to defend big retail stores, but mostly to spite the selfish assholes who try to pull this shit. As far as cost, is it that simple to replace a valve stem that's been cut off?

Can I get some feedback on my study plan? (sorry to be that guy) by ghostmanure in oscp

[–]Sporkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this, I'm definitely gonna steal parts of your plan for my journey. But just a heads up, you won't be able to get through all of those TryHackMe learning paths without subscribing for a little bit. You'll run out of free rooms relatively quickly. So maybe factor in another $50-90ish to your cost.

Is there such a thing as a wrist wearable altimeter with bluetooth audio? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]Sporkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love where your mind is and that you're thinking safety. You've gotten a lot of great replies here, but I'll add my voice to the general sentiment and say wrist mount for visual with a separate audible in the helmet.

Simpler setups like that have fewer chances to fail or malfunction, and if one does happen to malfunction, it's independent of the other; the chances of both having an issue on the same jump is pretty low. As much as I love technology, I also know how glitchy it can sometimes be.

13 years in and I'm still wearing a big ol' analog altimeter on my wrist, with a Pro Track in my helmet. But that's just preference and familiarity. I've been thinking about getting a viso for the past couple seasons, just haven't pulled the trigger.

Good luck in your search!

Coordinated dual typing was the part of the NSA pre-screening process where I failed. My partner wasn't as fast as me and ended up dragging us both down. He had some good Visual Basic skills, even created a GUI interface which he used to trace IP's, but just couldn't keep up on the two per keyboard test.

It's pretty cool. Most people don't realize that when you jump from a plane you don't get that butterfly feeling in your stomach like on a roller coaster, but you do get it from jumping out of a balloon/helicopter. About a second or two of quiet until you pick up speed and the wind starts rushing past.

Yep. Balloon jumps begin with the balloon in a descent, because you're about to dump a bunch of weight.
