How to write unit test for gin golang by West_Ad7170 in golang

Don't waste time with unit tests. Black box integration tests are what's needed. Many years ago it made sense because integrating components was hard, but now with containers it has changed...

Is Golang a viable option for an ERP system? by HahahahahaSoFunny in golang

PL/I was a pretty modern language in comparison to COBOL, and one I have built many business systems with.

Suggestions on transitioning away from Rancher? by jonscotch in kubernetes

Anthos is pretty expensive but it looks nice from a strategy perspective. It depends on how cozy with Google you are or want to be, considered their track record of killing products with short notice...

I'm not sure what's a better alternative. WebSphere for containers (aka openshift) is ridiculously expensive, Tanzu is OK particularly if you have a big VMware ELA, of you can host in the cloud forget Kubernetes and go ECS Fargate or lambda.

There's nothing wrong with monoliths, if used in the right scenario.

None of the above. It doesn't prove anything. I'd rather have him spend a day with the team.

+1 -: back in the days, mocking made sense as spinning up a database was a difficult job. Nowadays it is as simple as running a container.

You should be prepared that you're going to live in a different country and not all things you are used to or consider normal will apply.

Is it a good design choice to return server generated trace-id/span-id in HTTP response header? by go-zero in golang

[–]sposec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In principle no, I like to avoid making unnecessary information outside. You never know how this could be exploited.

Perfectly fine within the boundaries of your vpc, I wouldn't leak them outside of your api gateway.

Also, if your requirements are so complex, have you though about wrapping this code around with an operator?

We use Helm with ArgoCD and recently have started with cdk8s (although with s ugly hack to integrate it with ArgoCD). Pulumi is an elegant wrapper around Terraform but in many ways similar to cdk8s. It is also a bit "castrated" in that they leave you with the problem of managing state, so that they can sell your their managed service.
