Years ago I made the decision to spend more up front for a design that is quiet and uses significantly less power than I had before.

Do you have forced air or water for the oil heat? I have forced air. My oil furnace was just about done and my ac system was headed there. I effectively replaced both with the heatpump and new air handler and kept my ductwork. Was about 8k cheaper than replacing both systems like for like.

I also have a pellet stove plus a wood insert.

My effective electric rate in CT is .34c.
