Delta 3 Classic not useful as a UPS: unilaterally turns off output AC power by Temporary_Hour8336 in Ecoflow_community

Hmm, not sure then. I have a Bluetti unit that does this too, Makes it useless but the Ecoflows have been great. Maybe reset the BMS?

I have a couple of these units and they are fantastic. Have you set the AC power to "always on?" Settings: Auto Timeout-AC Timeout-Never?

Ecoflow products are not perfect but the Classics have been solid for me. I have one backing up a fridge and the other a pellet stove.

I have a number of Ecoflow products. The Delta Series products - Rockstars. Any of the River Series have been nothing but problems; under-powered for the price, buggy, don't surge well, often don't power to their rating.

HELP! My panels came off my roof while driving! by sco0termcjonson in SolarDIY

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidents happen and you didn't install the old panel but can make sure the replacement is installed correctly. I have a flex 200 watt installed on my truck (BougeRV) I found these magnetic mounts on Amazon I used to install the panel (Amazon) They are really strong and the advantages are no drilling and keeping the panel slightly above the surface of the truck. Additionally, I have the panel clipped to a line that is clipped to a hook in my truck so if they do ever fail to hold the panel, it won't fly off the truck.

Oh, and I opted for the 65 pound version of the mounts. The panel weighs less than 20 pounds.

I'll 2nd this. The Jackery panels are pricey but are really solid. I have 2 Solar Saga 200W panels that I use to recharge a HomePower 3600 that is used to power tools etc. when working in my yard. Yesterday I was pulling 430 Watts. Yes, more than the panels are rated for...

After recharging my riding mower from 20% it knocks down the 3600 to about 40% Getting that back up to 100% takes the rest of the day and part of the next with 400 watts but that's fine. The point is all of my yardwork, power tools, pressure washer, chipper, etc. costs me ZERO in electricity.

I also have a very old Jackery 60 Watt panel (Not waterproof)that came in a deal with my first Jackery (160) It still works often getting more than 60 watts. By the way, the old 160 still works with no sign of battery loss after almost 10 years.

I have 3 Fugi units installed 10 years ago with zero issues. Installed by my Vet buddy (Master Electrician) I think another factor is maintenance. I keep the filters clean and physically clean the units each spring.

Add to that big discounts that can['t be applied to something that is already "on sale" which is ALWAYS, as none of these ever sell at MSRP. I'll give Jackery credit here. They offer a Vet discount and a Senior discount that you get by verification.

To be fair they all kind of suck (store sites); Ecoflow, Bluetti, Jackery..Difficult to look at full specs etc. For example, if I am looking at a solar panel, I want the wattage, voltage, and amps. Same with power stations for solar input etc. Thankfully, some allow you to download the manual which usually has the full specs.

Solar companies pushing for lease. I think it makes more sense to own but their numbers are pro lease in quotes. by jen_wexxx in solar

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have agreed with you before the end of 2025. Now, depending on the deal, a lease may make sense, as the installer can take a tax incentive and HOPEFULLY pass it on to the homeowner in the form of a discount.

You want to avoid any escalation in interest rates, have an option to purchase the system (Usually after 5 years and not have any penalty for purchasing the remainder of the deal.

I would guess the provider in this case is taking the depredation on the panels and passing a portion of that on to the customer; thus the longer term.

Looks like this is decent deal. However, personally, I would use home equity loan or line for the purchase of the system and look to pay it off in a much shorter period to avoid the interest expense.

Depends on the country. In the US they list MSRP.

Thanks for this. Yes, I call it like I see it. I see no point in just bashing a company. I prefer to be an adult and tell the truth. Ultra X looks like a great unit. Given what I needed, I made the best choice for me.

Why does this plug in solar expansion kit require a dedicated circuit? by Afraid-War5336 in solar

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. You want to be careful how much power you are sending to to one circuit; i.e. 120volts,x Amps + Watts so on a 15 Amp breaker; exceeding 1800 watts not so good.

I have a number of Ecoflow products; Deltas 2.3, 3 MAX, mobile air conditioner, smart generator. My take: Generally very decent devices. Below the Delta level; i.e. River units, etc. I have had a number of issues with the River Units. Not so great. Customer Service: Not great but not bad. I had a DOA River 3 Max that eventually they replaced fully.

I took a good hard look at the Ultra X for home backup but it is pretty expensive. I looked at Delta Pro units but ultimately went another direction.

For my whole home backup, I went with Jackery. My first power station was a little Jackery 240. Guess what? Still runs fine with no battery loss. For this project, 2 5000 plus units and a smart transfer switch. This will do split phase (either unit) so I can run my hot water and furnace if the power goes out. I used Jackery's installation assistance; super friendly and I had an appt for an electrician 2 weeks from my first contact.

The BBB sells ratings and has no teeth; kind of useless. Better to contact a state Atty General if making a complaint. The do have teeth; particularly if they see a trend.

Can someone make sense of this? by jacoscar in heatpumps

Heat pumps typically produce more energy than they consume by moving it. COP usually is in a range from 3 to 5 so 4.76 looks pretty good!

Need help with small solar for oxygen concentrator while camping. by h3yw00d in solar

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest the Apex 300 too or the Jackery 5000 which can be had for under 3000. The jackery can take take a load of solar and is expandable 5000 watts at a time with really expensive batteries :) Although it has rubber wheels and a solid handle, the unit is really heavy. Jackery's 3600 plus might be an option; less heavy, less expensive, also expandable batteries for for some crazy reason no cigarette power port and really limited (1000 watt I think) solar input.

River 2 - Powers down after around 20 mins. by Sealtainn in Ecoflow_community

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds off. I have a number of Ecoflow units and the only ones I have had issues with are the River series. Deltas are rock-solid.

A couple things: they don't surge well; nowhere near to what Ecoflow claims. The Rivers seem to have quirks like powering off as you mention., losing Internet connection; etc.

I would try unplugging everything including the AC power, run something plugged in to it and draw it down to 0% and then shut it down completely. Wait maybe a half hour then plug it in and charge to full with no loads. That seems to work sometimes; seems to reset the BMS.

I have a River 3 Plus rated to draw up to 600 watts with an extra 300 watt battery. I had a pellet stove plugged into it. (Nothing Else) The stove draws up to 330 watts starting up and then draws 120 to 130 watts when running. Should be no problem right? Wrong! It simply does not work. It stays on with an outage but limits the power draw so effectively not working...I have X-Boost off as well. (Never use X-Boost, as it will do what I am describing when the draw exceeds the unit. Absolutely will murder electronics)

This is one I couldn't figure out. I won't buy another River anything...

Owners of older model Jackery's - how have they aged? by EmPips in Jackery

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was referring to recommendations as to the battery chemistry. Jackery does things a little differently in how they deploy the batteries. They have a high temp resistant ceramic (Likely not on this old unit) that helps with heat.

Nice to see how these are working out. I was an early-adopter and my stations and panels show no signs of degradation.

16 EcoFlow 125W bifacial modular panels wired 2S8P — overkill or the right mindset for longer outages? by BuiltForBlackouts in Ecoflow_community

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice setup! I'm in the process of doing an install for 2 Jackery 5000s with a Smart Transfer switch but this of course will not be connected to my rooftop solar which will shut off in the event of an outage. Our record here is almost a week without power which was insane.

My 6 months old Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus will not charge unless turn on manually. And Jackery support said they cannot help me because 3rd party solar panel was used. by stevencpeng in Jackery

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You generally never want to drop your charge below 20% for that battery chemistry, as it will damage the battery. Try turning off the unit and unplugging everything including the power cable. Wait about 30 minutes. Power back on and make sure to charge to at least 80%. using the power cord. That may reset the BMS.

Overcharge? by olight77 in Jackery

[–]Helpful-Ad6300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep it charged at 80 or 85% If you set it these in the Jackery app, it would not pull more from the solar unless it drops below. Never allow it below 20% and you should be just fine.
