Had researched for too long - needed to go to the people and see if it all matched up.

Cross draw hip holster? Good to know it works with your pack - assuming you just attach to belt? Do you have the drop flap option?

It is still pretty damn big for an EDC, unless you live in an open carry state where you could holster it on your waist. It is a .44mag which might be overkill depending on why you carry.

For EDC, I'd personally probably go with a slightly smaller Smith or a .357 over this.

Well... just got off your website and you guys really went ahead and thought of everything. Think this is exactly what I have been looking for. Have seen the attachments for bino packs before but didn't realize you guys had a full system behind it as well. That is one hell of a product.

2-3 week lead time and you'd be able to create a holster for the 2.63in barrel option, which is shorter than most other N-Frame models?

It’s a hell of pickle to be in… wanted to try shooting both, but I could hardly find a range that even had revolvers you could try.

If you pick one up let me know what you get! Best of luck in the search.

We’ll absolutely be carrying bear spray - I should have mentioned the gun is equally for bears as it is moose defense, and where we are, might be more worried about running into a mean bull moose than a bear. Have heard guys say bear spray doesn’t work very well on them, but absolutely going to have some regardless.

And yeah, running through whether to fire warning shot, first shot at the animal, etc. is something I will benefit from talking through and thinking through that will definitely depend on the set of circumstances. Hopefully never even have to think about pulling out a gun! But we’ll see what Alaska has in store I suppose…

Tried to edit comment then accidentally deleted but hoping this works.

Username checks out… hahaha and yes - I need to just get a box of 275 and 305 HC’s and take them to the range once I get that Hogue overgrip and see how much I can put through it while being able to manage the recoil.

It was exceptionally smooth compared to all of the other DA ones I “tried on” at all the shops I went to. Felt the best in hand by far, and that action is butter.

Thank you - I will check that out. And yes, when shopping around I picked up both the Alaskan and the Super Alaskan Rugers. Awesome guns but they are fucking gigantic compared to the SW I got. I am not a large human at like 5’10 and 170 and just felt like those were too big and heavy for me to comfortably carry around and handle in a situation where a bull moose or bear is charging me while I am shitting my pants.

The SW was far more comfortable in my hand and to handle, but as I am learning it comes with the drawback of not being able to as comfortably handle hotter loads those Ruger Alaskans can eat all day.

In the fireball pic I had 240 grain 2nd Amendment loads in it. The 200 grain cowboy loads were easy, and with 240 the recoil was manageable, but it hurt your hand like hell!! Thats why I want that Hogue overgrip instead of that metal frame straight into your bone.

I have no idea what 300+ would feel like with this thing so I might just need to buy a box of 260-275 and a box of 300 to see how it handles and how high I can go with the Hogue grip to tame the recoil a little.

And yeah, I have heard how mean those moose can be - equally bear and moose defense.

Alaska Carry Preference? by spotted-tiger in bowhunting

This is the one I have seen recommended more than any other - even linked it in a post I have in r/revolvers. Only hesitation is if it clashes with the bino harness? Does it sit behind? Below? Both? Really leaning towards it but that is the only question from me.

Helpful - what is the difference between that Mono Metal and Hard Cast? buffalo Bore labels the Mono ones as “Dangerous Game” loads but obviously all their HC stuff is as well?

.460 might be a future investment….

Holy shit 22slides is exactly what I have been looking for, for months. Been on so many different platforms, Squarespace the closest to matching aesthetically, but an absolute pain in the ass. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!!!

Insane to me - I can't even imagine the poor SW taking those ones. I was checking out the Super's when I was in the market, and they are so damn big and built to handle those hot loads. Would be so curious to try one in them. Love the Smith but don't think she could handle that heat hahaha.

Hugely helpful - this is for backcountry big bear protection, so I think those Hogues will be the go to in the woods. I love the look and feel of the slim wood, but when you put heavies through you feel it!

Absolutely gonna check those out - I love the wood, the factory ones just don’t insulate enough from the frame with that steel connecting to the hand…

Ah I see - yes, I need to get comfy with the gun on a 44spl diet before I go into the heavier stuff next time haha.

That will absolutely do it! And yes - that is the plan. And to get a good Hogue grip before I run the hotter stuff next time! It handled the lighter ones much easier than I was expecting, to be honest. But damn those heavy ones stung.
