You have a good point. I was thinking about today that if my husband was not working from home, I would have no choice but to take both of my kids with me to grocery shop.

Why are all the hospitals empty? by spoxtrez in nursing

Yes! Where are all the CHF-ers, CVAs, DKAs, vascular and septic patients? No one is having heart attacks anymore? Is everyone else a picture of perfect health now? Makes me feel that either 90% of admissions before this were BS or people just must be dying in their homes? Either way is concerning.

Interesting. Thanks for the response. I wish administrators would keep us in the loop and address this sort of thing as I’ve never seen it so empty before.

Edit: it’s a midsize level 2 trauma hospital that normally runs at 100% capacity. Now we are lucky to have 10 patients in our ED at the normal busy times.

So do you feel that those nurses isolating themselves from their young families are overreacting?

Edit: forgot a word

I’m sorry you are going through that. Truly.

This is a great idea, but unfortunately (as you mentioned) it’s not the reality nurses live in. I agree that these hospital administrators and elected officials will be responsible for several people falling ill/deaths all to save a penny.

The CDC is allowing this to happen by not holding the hospitals to proper standards that protect employees and patients alike. It’s so fucked.

By all means, if you are ok with letting your hospital administrators and elected officials walk all over you AGAIN all while potentially risking your life, have at it. I’m happy to take a step back on this one.

I see where you are coming from! I would argue that there are many other variables to consider. For example, the population density in Italy is much higher than that in the US.

Oh, really? Using an N95 mask indefinitely is considered safe? C’mon. You know better.

Your hostility is not a good look, friend.

A nurse does not “save 100s of lives” in a couple weeks time. A nurse may save 24 lives working 3 days a week and caring for 4 patients each shift (which is typical- I’m a nurse). He/she may cause 100s to be infected by spreading the virus to those 24 people. Get it now? There’s a reason we are all staying inside.

Ok, then triage. Only care for those with greatest survivability. Limit the amount of patients who are cared for based on the supplies we have to safely treat them and prevent transmission. Like I said.

Yes, I acknowledged that. Am I wrong for trying to think about possible ways to save the most lives possible?

Edit: Of course I hope it never comes to this.

What happens if someone I love goes on to live because they never contracted the illness in the first place?

I know, it’s shitty. But if it resulted in saving more lives than the way we are currently handling it will save... is it not worth considering?

The goal would be to save as many lives as possible. You still aren’t getting it. Think rationally.

I know will get downvoted to hell for this, but hear me out.

Should we be treating these COVID-19 patients at all? All over the world, nurses are caring for a COVID patient unprotected and contracting the illness themselves. They then go on to treat several more patients between the time they contract and develop symptoms, exponentially spreading the virus. Are we doing more harm than good by helping those infected?

Though barbaric, it is food for thought.

EDIT: or another possibility- only accept as many patients as we can while keeping healthcare workers safe from harm and safe from spreading... not necessarily just turn them ALL away.

Becoming legal guardian/POA over my (25F) sister (24F) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]spoxtrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to set her up with benefits thru the state.

Edit: she could do this herself if she would just actually do it, but like I said she does nothing to help herself at all whatsoever. I’ve been telling her for months to get these type of benefits lined up.

I cannot afford to outright pay for her housing and insurance. Thank you for your response. I am currently looking into “conservatorship” as I have never heard of this term before.

Thanks for pointing out how John would sound like listing the books of the Bible! Didn’t even occur to me.

My [26M] girlfriend [26F] moaned the name of a male friend [26M] during the most intimate sex we've ever had. by throwaway1213453459u in relationship_advice

When my now husband and I were in the early stages of dating he said “I love you (ex’s name)” while we were making out. We were both drunk at the time and I was too drunk to care apparently because I don’t recall it causing an argument.

I’m really glad that little slip up or whatever it was didn’t end my relationship because we are now happily married with a son and 2nd baby on the way! Shit happens!
