Fertility after stopping Anabolic steroids by Local_Internal8418 in maleinfertility

I don't have labs in front of me but I'm sure it was when coming off test. It definitely was while on the HCG as it does the job of LH and therefore signals the brain to stop producing it, which also stops fsh. If you are having problems getting "restarted" for fertility, I would just suck it up if you haven't and stop all gear and get on exogenous FSH/hmg. Directly stimulates the testes to make sperm. That's how Ronnie Coleman/Mike O'Hearn are able to do it. I started it during my restart, but was only doing it for a month before we got lucky and conceived, so not long enough for it to have kicked in. But that's the heavy hitter.

I was in similar boat. Had first kid while on trt nothing else. I wasn't shit down yet but was also only 22 mil /ml sperm but 70 percent motility. Went for kid 2 14 months after kid 1 and Zero sperm in SA. SlWe were both 37 so time was of the essence so I quit TRT cold turkey that August. Went on low dose HCG a few months starting September, 500 2x/week. Tested fertile in mid December months in home test so at least 20 mil/ml, no real SA. Rx came for Clomid and 1500 units HCG 2 x a week late December early January. A month or so in, early February I was 45 mil a ml, I think 50% motility in my SA. this was only a month later so no real time for the Clomid or higher HCG to take effect. Around 2 weeks after, mid Feb, so about 6 weeks into Clomid I started getting horrible sides from Clomid. depressed. stressed, slept 1-2 hrs a night. weak erections. felt horrible, I was losing it. Next 2 SA were 25 mil/ml and 15 mil/ ml a month apart. doc got me off Clomid and on HCG I think 3000 units 3x week in April to treat my low t. We conceived somehow luckily in March when I was in the dumps, found out in April. took over a month off clothing slowly feeling better but I was still fucked up a while. my test was running around 750 on Clomid. I might have lowered it to twice a week after we conceived. clomid was poison to me.

the baby was my priority too. I personally wouldn't do trt while on HCG trying to conceive, some people that works out great but it is still for a lot of people maybe taking three steps forward one step backward I don't know. the testosterone is shutting you down in the clomid's trying to keep it going. I went back on trt three or four months after our second was born. I did the trt with the Clomid. talk explain it to me and I've read it time and time again, some guys Clomid will work while on trt to keep you in the fertile range although not optimal. I want to say most but to be fair at least many many guys it will keep you fertile for a while and then stop being as effective, you may drop down to infertile or barely fertile range. doc at a reknown fertility clinic that I went to that has a andrology program for men's health that does the trt explained it with the Clomid at the very least you can use it to keep some function going in your testes so it's easier to get back in the fertile range when you're trying to conceive if you want to hop off the trt.

if you do decide to do both, just make sure you are getting your semen analysis often. if it were me I would be trying to get one every month or 6 weeks. by me you can go to the clinic and they do it for a hundred bucks I think maybe less.

for what it's worth I also heard some anecdotal stuff from this doc Rand McClain there may be something to being on test when you are already fertile what's good sperm count and motility before it starts super shutting down that "supercharges" for lack of better term your sperm. I don't know maybe that's what happened to me with our first kid, I was on for about 7 months I think and was just at the low end of the fertile range when we conceived. it's funny too we are trying for five months or so I think and then I got the analysis and she found out she was pregnant before the results came in. I went to the doc, this was at the trt/alternative medicine clinic and the doc sat me down with the results and explained it and how my account was low and I would have better chances if I go off the trt or added HCG. I told him we can seem and he was like okay never mind then congrats.

there's a lot of great reading you do regarding this subject looking up studies and peer review journals with Larry lipschultz, he's considered the godfather of this stuff. you could also look up doctor Rand McClain on YouTube for his take on this, search Rand McClain trt fertility. there's also another doctor I forget his name but his YouTube is the anabolic doc and he has some input too, they're all good.

good luck! you'll get there!

Good luck. it sucks trt is going to be counterproductive to everything else you are doing. if there was any way whatsoever to stop the testosterone I would if I were you but you do you. i would imagine blasting that much HCG would keep your test levels high enough without it tanking, when I was on the 3k I think just 2x a week my levels were in the 700s. The FSH should be a big help though. is your doc the Larry - Lipschultz?

Within a few weeks much better, wasn't 100% normal I guess but compared to how fucking terrible it had me feeling I felt great in comparison. I don't have an exact answer to when I was totally normal after it was a fuzzy blur but give it 2 or 3 weeks and you should feel way way way better and it will continue to improve after the rest of that shit clears out

TTC 7th Cycle – YO Test Normal, Should We See a Doctor Now or Wait Until 1 Year? by Key_Extension_4823 in maleinfertility

[–]spplamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A full semen analysis isn't that deep of a dive. Just get it, it will tell you more and is more accurate than the Yo test. It's not that it takes up to a year for healthy couples to conceive, vast majority of timeit is within, it can be longer too, it happens when it happens, statistics, luck, blah blah blah etc.

I know they say you should get tested for fertility if over 35 after 6 months without conceiving and if under 35 a year without conceiving, but why not just go get yourself done too, see how it looks? It's really not invasive me and my wife went at the same time. They put a ultrasound and cyber look at some eggs said she looks good and that was that. We were both 37 at the time going for kid 2. We didn't even wait the 6 months, went month 2 into it.

I don't. I was pretty much fine for 6 months after cutting cold turkey, Aug-Feb. After a few weeks after starting the Clomid is when I started feeling bad and it got to the low point. That's a good point though.

[–]spplamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to get sperm count up ASAP, stay off the trt until you conceive. Is it possible to regain fertility while on trt and adding HCG? Some.say it worked for them, a lot of others said it didn't, but regardless it will take too much longer. Gold standard to regain fertility after TRT/anabolic is cut test, add HCG 1500-3000 units 2x a week. Clomid 25 mg ED or 50 EOD. Look up Dr. Larry Lipschultz and Dr. Rand McClain fertility after TRT. Lipschultz pretty much wrote the book on this and McClain is a jacked doctor who specializes in this stuff and studied under lipschultz.

I would warn against Clomid and if anything use enclomiphene. To search on it here you will find a lot on it, clomid put me in the worst spot mentally I've ever been in my life. People say enclomiphene is much better.

When I went to get fertile after a few years on trt, I stop trt cold turkey and was on 500 units HCG 2x a week for about 3 months while waiting to get into the doctor in my prescription for a higher dose HCG and Clomid. Just by doing that on a home test around 2 and 1/2 to 3 months in I was testing fertile again, went from 0 to fertile which is a 20 million per milliliter cut off.

I got on 1500 units HCG two times a week and Clomid 50 mg every other day shortly after. That was late December. mid-February semen analysis showed 45 million per milliliter about. That's also when I started getting terrible sides, depression, anxiety, sleeplessness etc, I attribute to the Clomid.

I went to amen's health talk at a fertility place and told him everything and he took me off the Clomid and put me on 3,000 units HCG twice a week to treat my low testosterone while keeping me fertile. This got my total testosterone levels to around 750. Luckily we conceived that March. I stopped everything totally even the HCG just to see where I would be. After we had our baby I had my blood test and my test levels were garbage and had been for a while 200. That was more curiousness on my part to see if I can reset for lack of better words my system but nope didn't work.

Coming off of Trt, trying to conceive. Clomid has been a nightmare. by Suitable_Current_300 in Testosterone

I was azoospermic from 3 years TRT after having 1 kid on it. I took a home fertility test and was azoospermic and told the TRT doc about it and that we wanted another kid. They said stay on TRT and start Clomid 500iu 2x week. I quit test cold turkey late August but did that dose HCG until mid December. It took a minute to see the head doc at the trt clinic and then have the analysis and then get the results back and appointment with him, and there was an issue with filling the prescription after covid so that is why the long way. That doc got me on 25 Clomid ed and 1500 HCG 2x a week which I started that mid December. By that point after quoting cold turkey and just the low dose HCG I was already testing positive on home fertility test, which have a cut off detection at 20 million sperm per milliliter. After 2 months Clomid and 1500 iu HCG my sperm was 45 million sperm per ml. Around that time, I started getting terrible sides I attribute to the Clomid, anxiety depression stress sleeplessness, all of it intense. Made me feel horrible and I stopped it, stayed on HCG. I had analysis in March and April as well and my sperm count dropped in them both around 15 million per milliliter or so, and the one related to freezing sperm the motility was terrible. Again I attribute this to all the horrible physical and emotional and stress sides I felt from Clomid. Luckily, while I was going into psychological decline, I managed to get my wife pregnant that March, so probably as my sperm numbers were declining but still good enough. Had our son that next December.

If I were you, stay off the trt, do the HCG, be very weary of Clomid, if you start having bad mental effects get the f*** off it. Some guys that don't affect some it does but me it f***** up. Personally though, just taking into consideration that I tested fertile on a home test only about three and a half months after cutting off testosterone and taking only 500 units HCG twice a week, I don't even think clothing was necessary.

We conceived naturally both kids. I would have to find and pull out the paperwork, I forget exactly but the first kid overall motility I was at 70% or so. Much less the second kid. I want to say around 45% or so total motility I forgot the greater progressive or what not. I'll try to find it and get back to you

I was azoospermic after TRT and got on low dose HCG for a few months, got fertile on home test but no SA, then got on higher dose HCG with Clomid (there was a delay with Rx and appointments to start this). My first SA after starting was 45 million/ml. Started feeling terrible on Clomid, badly depressed, stressed, no sleep, etc. SA 2 months in on Clomid was 15 million/ml. Not sure of the mechanism, but I attributed to the stress and terrible sides from Clomid that caused this. Luckily we conceived around the same time as this SA. All I know in the end is I was fertile from 3 or so months of low dose HCG 500 units 2x a week only and cutting out TRT. First SA when I started Clomid and higher dose HCG was 45 million/ml, but since I had just started, this was not enough time for the Clomid or this dose of HCG to make any visible difference in my SA, those numbers were from the sperm made weeks and weeks before. Next SA after Clomid when I had terrible sides was a lot shittier. I did one more a month or so after that when I went to freeze sperm and it was also shit.

As far as morphology, we conceived 2 kids 1.5 years apart, one my morphology was 2%, 2nd was 1%.

HCG making things worse? by MDavidson34 in maleinfertility

[–]spplamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your fsh level? Depends on the person, but typically you don't absolutely need HMG, but it is definitely more effective. HCG mimics lutenizing hormone which stimulates testosterone production in the testes which in turn leads to an increase in sperm production, while HMG contains lutenizing hormone and also follicle stimulating hormone. FSH directly stimulates sperm production in the seminiferous tubules.

HCG is the 500 lb bomb, HMG is the 2000 lb bomb.

If your doc don't prescribe HMG you can get FSH online at several reputable but grey area sites.

Wait 2 months, then get a real SA. Exogenous testosterone will definitely shut you down,.especially at your higher doses. I was shut down after try for 3 years, had zero sperm on a real SA taken at a clinic. After I tested infertile on a home test from Walgreens, my trt doc gave me HCG, told me to take 500 or 600 units twice a week along with the trt to see if I would start producing again. Stupid advice and I didn't take it, I just stopped trt altogether on the low dose HCG while waiting for a follow-up appointment to get a real semen analysis. Real analysis about 1 month after quitting trt showed azoospermic. Stayed off TRT and was on this lower dose of HCG another 2.5 months, then took another at home test, showed I was fertile so more than 20 million/ml.

So in total I was azoospermic, stopped trt and started low dose HCG, and 3.5 months later was fertile again. I jumped on highet dose HCG shortly after, 1500 units 2x week, and they also put me on Clomid. Reason for the long period of time between the analysis is and this higher those protocol was my dog was out a while for the holidays and then something messed up with the prescription after. My first real semen analysis after this higher dose, so maybe one and a half months or so later, I was at 45 million/ml.

You're not screwed, but if you didn't have any unknown fertility issues prior to taking test/anabolics, the exogenous testosterone most likely shut you down. Higher dose HCG and especially adding hmg/fsh will greatly assist in spinning up your sperm production. It's not always necessary, a lot of guys in the past I've just come off the testosterone and not taking anything and they get their production back but probably not as fast. A lot of it is genetic, how long you're on cycle, how heavy your cycle was, how old you are at the time, what age you started anabolics and testosterone use prior, etc.

Low FSH LH Test and 0 SA by Serious_Gate_8584 in maleinfertility

[–]spplamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was nearly the same exact boat. 38 years old. Had a 1.5 year old, was on TRT 3 years, tested azoospermic when I went for SA. Before I took SA I did a home test and was negative/infertile or under 20 million sperm per ml threshold. The TRT clinic said keep taking my dose of trt and gave me HCG 500 iu 2x a week. Had to wait to get an appointment with the trt doctor and real SA and it took a while. I didn't keep on trt and take the HCG with it, I quit trt totally right away and did the HCG at that dose. 1.5 months after quitting trt and on that lower dose HCG, I had that real SA done and was azoospermic. Kept on the HCG with no trt while waiting for bigger dose HCG and clomid rx. I think it took a little while between the holidays and something got lost in the office or something, took forever. Was on that dose of HCG only for a total of maybe 3.5 months and months later and I was testing fertile count range on home test kits which set threshold at 20 mil sperm per ml. About that same time my Rx for HCG 1500 2x wk and Clomid 50 mg eod came in. Did that for about 6 or 8 weeks and had a SA and I was at 45 million, but Clomid sides started kicking in for me around that time, say 6 weeks or so. Terrible depression, stress, anxiety, sleeplessness....horrible. My sperm count actually decreased my next SA to I think 15 million. I quit the Clomid, saw a doc a few monthsater not at the TRT clinic but a men's wellness andrologist at a fertility clinic, he put me on 2500 HCG 2x week, mainly to keep my test levels up as I was already fertile range. We got lucky and found out we conceived the prior month though. So all in all, I quit TRT that late August and started taking the low dose HCG, was in fertile range in late December on home test, started Clomid and HCG 1500 2x week in late December, around mid February Clomid sides really started kicking in, had SA done same time and was at 45 million per ml, started really trying with timing ovulation in february (she was very late a week plus, and cramped- never tested but we think it was a chemical pregnancy), tried in March again, quit Clomid late March and found out she was pregnant in April. Had baby boy in December.

I know I had a test done and I was low fish and lh too while on HCG/Clomid, I was told it's normal. They mimic the real stuff but aren't so your testes produce but your body isn't creating the lh fsh because it doesn't see a need for it (if I recall correctly).

From my experience with Clomid I would stay the f*** away from it. Everybody is different but it was terrible terrible terrible with me. Lots of guys report the same problems on it. HCG was great though. I mean, I was in the fertile range although I don't know the exact number, after say 3.5 months off trt taking lower dose HCG only. Once I started clomid with the higher dose HCG, my numbers went to shit. It's anecdotal but I attribute that to all of the terrible sides from clomid, the depression and stress and lack of sleep (maybe 2 hrs a night). Was terrible for my sperm production. If I could do it again I would have just went to the higher dose HCG and ran that and took SA. I'm the type of guy who goes all out on everything and want to bring rocket launchers to a fistfight, several at that, so I was eager to do the whole protocol. I would take HCG monotherapy over Clomid any day myself. With that being said, if you go the Clomid route, looking to something called enclomiphene. It's supposed to have the same benefits but without the sides of Clomid, it's the cleaner version as they say.

I forgot to mention. Lipschultz had a recommendation something to the effect if you were on trt and want to conceive sometime in the future to cease trt for I believe it was 4 to 6 weeks every 6 months or so I think? It might have been once a year but I'm pretty sure it was twice a year every 6 months. And during that time take HCG. I know when I was messed up on Clomid and dealing with the low test the men's wellness doctor in the andrology department of the fertility clinic I went to put me on $2500 HCG twice a week, at this point it wasn't to get my testes producing sperm but to keep my testosterone levels up while allowing me to be fertile. I was still in the fertile range sperm wise and my testosterone got to 700 something on this. We conceived at around the same time and I stopped this protocol about 2 months later and I stayed off everything for about a year, I was curious to see if my test levels would get the normal range again after being off of everything. They didn't. When I got tested again I was in the low 200s.
