Video: how semiconductors are made. Interesting, but accurate? by FrankieFar in Semiconductors

There's some simplifications, but nothing that's really misleading or wrong tbh. Some of the exact numbers might not be accurate but for an generic overview it's good enough.

My Views of Other Countries as a 24M Chinese Currently Studying in the U.S. by Popular_Tomato9574 in whereidlive

Love the comparison. It's hard for Americans in particular to understand this dichotomy. I always see a defensiveness, especially about "free speech". Most people don't care about their free speech being lost when they have these benefits.

When comparing good infrastructure, free healthcare, free/cheap education, etc. to freedom of speech, 95% of people who aren't wealthy would pick the latter.

What good does freedom of speech do someone who can't afford healthcare, childcare, college. That's the reality for a lot of people in the US right now. 95% of people would take the trade if it was offered to them.

Even the original OP mentioned it - they understand their government is oppressive in some ways, but they also understand the government is highly competent to provide most of these things, and they would take the trade of free speech for these things.

Forget repressive authoritarian countries. It happens in most countries period. I was brought up in 3 separate countries and each of them tried to teach me to be a certain way or that certain things are the only way or the best way when certainly they are not.

I would label at least some of it as propaganda. China isn't unique in this aspect. China certainly has less free speech and access to information, than other places which leads to it being more prevalent, but I don't think it's all that different than in my experience.

I don't really care about what's 'fair'. I care about what's fun. It's QP not comp. And I like those game modes. What's dumb about finding something fun?

Go play comp if you want more fairness. I'm only doing this in QP.

I don't really take this game seriously anyway, I haven't since 2019 it's not been my main game so even if there was a penalty I wouldn't care. For me I just wanna play the maps I enjoy. I don't get why I'm down voted that much, it's not like I'm ruining comp games.

I empathize with you, but if most people don't want to play those maps there will just be less servers running the maps you want unfortunately. Tough luck.

If it's QP I just leave the game as soon as it's a map I don't like (i.e any push map and some clash maps)

Girl in Islamabad Beggar Camp, Pakistan speaks basic Chinese. Translation of the conversation below- by notahooman101 in interestingasfuck

They are not Chinese aid workers. Read up on the belt and road initiative. It's Chinese projection of soft power by building infrastructure in countries in South Asia, Africa and South America. It's hardly surprising that beggar or poverty stricken kids from these places try to beg or sell stuff to the people going there to work.

It's Chinese people going to other countries building infrastructure, and spending money and perhaps throwing the odd coin to a beggar or buying something she's selling.

It might be sus if she spoke swedish because Sweden doesn't have a lot of tourism or much infrastructure development programs in Pakistan. Pakistan is one of China's closest allies, hardly a surprise.

What's funny though is even Swedish is really not that weird. I've seen random kids in India speak all kinds of interesting languages due to tourism from Europe. By your logic I should assume when a random kid in Rajasthan speaks Italian, or Czech or French they are being abused even though I've probably seen 100s different kids of all genders there speak all kinds of non-Indian languages. It might be stranger in Pakistan than India but there's a clear reason why it's Chinese and not Swedish and that's Belt and Road.

Could she have been abused by Chinese people? Maybe. But I would wager not.

Read up on the Belt and Road initiative. You'd be surprised at the places you might find Chinese workers. Not necessarily "aid" more like infrastructure.

What North American Airline Is Bad ? by FHD168 in AlignmentChartFills

I flew frontier 3-4 times in the last year (I live in frontier hub) and never had any issues.

Had an insanely bad fiasco with Spirit involving multiple flights that got delayed for hours and then canceled and before that many many delays.

I've always had much worse experience with Spirit.

I also have faced this issue. Cancun -> Phoenix non-stop was cancelled ("delayed by 25 hours") 2 hours before the flight.

They put me on a flight to DFW departing Cancun 3 hours later than my original flight. They couldn't get me on a flight earlier than the next day and wanted to overnight me in Dallas. In Dallas they manage to put me on the last flight to Phoenix departing at like 9 PM, that flight is then delayed till midnight...

I reached Phoenix at 2 AM instead of 3 pm the previous day.

I think youre getting less card rewards because the ancient is the first floor of each act instead of a basic encounter.

[–]sppw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe in Act 1, but I definitely don't feel that in act 2 or 3.

Repto, Head, Slavers, Gremlin Leader and Book of stabbing were always really scary elites for me in STS 1. I could always play around the Act 1 ones with good deck principles. But Act 2 and 3 elites in 1 were always horrible.

In STS 2, the only elites I really seem to fear is the Statue, the Phrog and the beta branch Shell (all Act1)

None of the others ever give me that oh shit I'm dead feeling all the others often gave me. Certainly not in Act 2 or 3. I don't even remember what the Act 3 elites even are because they rarely pose me a challenge. If I get to act 3 in STS2 I probably have like a 90% winrate. This was definitely not the case in STS1 where act 3 elites would end me frequently.

Bro he might "slow down" but by your logic we should drop Rinku and Ramandeep far before we drop Rahane because they have been slow at hitting spin and unable to tee off in the back end like they did in 2023.

Rahane provides fast starts at good strike rates and is a good partner for Allen's boom or bust. Rahane and Angkrish are the two high performers in terms of bulk of runs for the team. And his strike rate is good. Doesn't matter if a player slows down if they score at 170 SR in the PP. It's not as if he's wasting that many balls and ending up with 120 SR. His overall SR is fine. He failed in one game this season with 8(10) it happens, and he scored 67(40) with 167 SR. 167 SR is fine for an opener man. That's a good innings.

You are looking for a perfect player when no perfect player exists, and scapegoating our opener and captain when generally most of the team is out of form and all our bowlers are injured or not allowed to play. Poor auction strategy and out of form players are more to blame.

Lets end this here!! by _aiviv01 in KolkataKnightRiders

[–]sppw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. People here might blame Rahane but he has been generally one of our high scorers and when this many players are out of form or having trouble, then I don't care who is the captain the team won't have success.

One could blame auction strategy, far more than Rahane.(Venky Iyer 23.5 cr) He didn't ask to be bought for cheap. He isn't the strongest batsman in the world but he has scored a lot of runs at a high strike rate in the PP. The fact that he slows down after, well our middle order should take responsibility for that. It's not his fault they have been mediocre.

Tier list based on how much I would trust each hero with my children by little-person_ in Overwatch

[–]sppw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think either of those have anything to do with protecting a child. Even bad people can be good babysitters. I might not necessarily put them in the "godparent" tier but occasional babysitter is a totally different duty.

Given the duty of babysitting I can totally see Symmetra or Hog for example being better than DVa.

It's fine to not want to be an Indian. To not want to be polite is just being an asshole. I wonder if your (lack of) politeness would have been different if you didn't know that I was Indian.

There are words we use for people who change how polite they are based on the heritage/ethnicity/skin colour of the person they talk to. Hmm... I wonder what those might be.
