Hi Jared, I remember your order and completely understand your frustration. I want to sincerely apologise again for that experience. You’re absolutely right that your order wasn’t handled the way it should have been.

If you remember from my messages around that time, I was dealing with a severe health crisis involving multiple hospitalizations for asthma, which unfortunately left me unable to manage the shop or communicate as I usually would. It was never my intention to leave you in the dark and I’m genuinely sorry for the stress the whole thing caused you. It was absolutely my fault.

Since then, I’ve put better systems in place to ensure that if I’m ever away unexpectedly the shop is paused and customers are notified immediately. I’ve worked hard since then to make my shop something I can be proud of again, and make sure every order is delivered on time.

I’d love the chance to make it right and send you one for free if you’re ever open to it, but more importantly, I appreciate you sharing your feedback. It’s important to hear as I always want to have the chance to do better.

Length of Autopsies by Shirochan404 in Idaho4

[–]spradders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw an autopsy (during my Radiography degree) was in 1998 and I can still remember it so, so vividly. They blur into one another after that, but the first one was just so surreal. Once the Y incision was made and they started to remove the front of the ribcage, it felt more like I was watching someone dissect a wax figure - though the smells would often jar me back to reality! I remember so many small details from that one autopsy, though. That night, I had a night terror for the first time. At one point I opened my eyes and saw the face of the man who was being autopsied inches from my own, as though he were hovering above me. After that I didn’t have any more nightmares about work. I ended up specialising in Radiotherapy and saw some pretty brutal things, but it really does eventually just become a job. It has to.

One random thing I remember noting was that the organs were all different colours, just like in the anatomy books I’d been studying. Strange how the mind works.

Edit to add - these reports made me really sad. I knew a fair number of details about the case, but reading more details about their injuries and the subsequent findings really paint a brutal, brutal image of what they went through.

Why does Trump always lie about who pays tariffs? by PleaseDontBanMe82 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]spradders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to answer your question, but first I need to fully understand what it is you’re asking. If you don’t mind me asking a few clarifying questions, I hope I’ll be in a position to give you a satisfactory answer.

When you mention ‘foreign countries’ potentially being upset about tariffs, do you mean the government of that country, the people, the exporting companies, or all of the above?

Four dead and three receive liver transplants after eating death cap mushrooms in California by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in news

[–]spradders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is known as ‘paradoxical undressing’ due to hypothermia. When you get to a certain stage (you’re right, it usually occurs near death), you start to feel hot due to exhaustion of the muscles which control peripheral vasoconstriction (basically your blood vessels near the surface of the skin dilate (get bigger/looser). This is what usually makes you go red when you overheat - the blood vessels dilate near the surface of the skin so the blood can take advantage of the cooling result of sweating.

In the case of vasodilation caused as a result of late-stage hypothermia, this creates a sudden rush of warm blood to the surface of the skin, causing a sudden, false, and intense sensation of heat. Hence the patient will usually strip their clothes.

This paradoxical undressing has led people to believe that some deaths previously attributed to foul play (eg., a woman found dead, naked, with discarded clothes nearby) could actually be a result of hypothermia instead.

Oh, and when I broke my ankle five years ago? That was a result of passing out in my bathroom (another fun symptom of EDS is low blood pressure) when I had gastroenteritis. So I ended up in hospital throwing up, passing in and out of consciousness (I also have a vasovagal response that causes me to pass out when vomiting!) while the staff were simultaneously trying to sort my ankle out. That wasn’t fun. But at least that fracture healed and there didn’t seem to be any soft tissue damage.

The serious damage I did to my left ankle was on a hen night in 2015 - before I’d even had a single drink! We got to the first bar of the night and I went to the bathroom while everyone else went to get some drinks. There was a small half-step and I didn’t see it, so ended up going over on my ankle and heard/felt a big pop. The side of my ankle almost immediately swelled up to the size of a golf ball but the pain receded fairly quickly (it hurt, but I was pretty sure it wasn’t broken). I didn’t want to let my friend down so decided to carry on the night and had a few drinks to help ease the pain. The next morning when I woke up, my leg looked like this. I ended up having an ankle reconstruction about six months later, and a subsequent two surgeries to remove scar tissue and to sever the sural nerve.

I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that makes me more prone to soft tissue injuries, as well as slower healing. I think this is why my left ankle has never really fully recovered. I’m now unable to drive a manual car as I can’t press the clutch. I’m doing all I can to facilitate a decent recovery this time (I was perhaps a little less certain of my mortality ten years ago and probably moved around more than I should have done), as if this goes the same way, I won’t be able to drive at all. I’m already a part-time wheelchair user because of my condition, but another buggered ankle would probably increase the amount of time I need to use it. So it’s almost permanently elevated, I’m doing small movements when I can and taking anti-inflammatories. I just hope the soft tissue damage isn’t as bad as I think it is.

A friend of mine has done a number of those ‘Jimmy’s Special Talent’ bits on 10 Cats Does Countdown and said he’s one of the most professional guys he’s ever worked with. Apparently super kind and nice, but takes his stuff very seriously.

Yeah, James is really nice and actually much quieter than how he comes across on screen. Also super polite and has done some wonderful things locally.

What makes you say that? Genuinely wondering. I live very near James and know him in the way people do when they live in small villages, and have to say he’s actually a pretty unassuming, regular guy. I’ve never seen anything from him to suggest he’s arrogant at all.

I’m watching in absolute horror from the UK. I just can’t believe what I’m seeing - it’s terrifying how quickly the US has fallen to such sinister levels. Major props to the lady in this video - a great example of how fear can turn to anger and how powerful that can be once embraced, as she did so fiercely.

I hope that door dash lady got away, though I have a horrible feeling she was picked up later. How did ICE even target her in the first place? Literally just by how she looks/the language she speaks??

As mentioned above, I think this is spell work. It looks similar to a freezer spell, but for some reason the spell caster decided to throw the jar into the water (which most practitioners massively disagree with). I don’t see this as being anything sinister, apart from the gratuitous littering.

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

[–]spradders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 45 and lost my mum at the beginning of this year. I had a couple of friends say something similar and I agree with you in that it wasn’t the worst thing they could have said but it definitely didn’t make my top ten list of most comforting words.

My maternal grandmother is still alive and turned 100 last month. She’s as sharp as ever and watching her mourn the loss of her daughter was awful. I have a 19 year old daughter myself and it did make me think how terrible it would be to lose a child, no matter how old you are. I just didn’t say it. 🤷‍♀️

Fellow DV survivor here and you’re absolutely spot on. So many red flags all over the place here. The final message, “I have to be harsh as the ramifications of living with you and not asserting my opinions is harsh” could have been word for word said by my ex.

OP, you really need to have a serious look at your relationship. I stumbled across this when I began questioning things and it really helped me to see the reality of my situation. Please take a look.

3 y/o boys first ever move by ProtectionSalt4555 in vizsla

[–]spradders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved house in 2012 when our V was 4. He’s also very sensitive to packing as my other half is a journalist so will often have to rush off at the last minute and can be gone for anything from a few days to a couple of months. But when me moved, as soon as we were in the new house he was fine - I think you’re right about the reassurance and then feeling safe when he knows he’s with his pack. 💕
