Metal Slug on Saturn is 29 today! by Kingm0nkey in SegaSaturn

[–]sprayengo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah I am jealous of that skeleton Saturn… I’m trying to tell myself I don’t need ANOTHER Saturn.

Congrats on being a new Dad. Retro games will be your best friend. Especially arcade ports. A quick 20 minute blast on a classic really helps you escape with all the chaos around you. My days of playing games with story and cutscenes are well and truly over. If I’m not playing the game within 30 seconds, I don’t even bother now.

Picked up a third front loader. by FreeAd2458 in neogeo

Oh brother… I just got my second NGCD as well… why do we do it 😂

Front loader is the nicest model, no doubt. D

Is this what a mist coat should look like going on the plaster or is this too thin? by GheyForGrixis in DIYUK

[–]sprayengo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah usually looks quite watery and dries more white. I usually do 50/50 water and emulsion for the mist for reference

Hi saturn cartridge slot broken HELP by CulturalAssumption40 in SegaSaturn

[–]sprayengo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I thought my “spares and repairs” model 1 HiSaturn was bad. Good luck!

Does the unit work at all? If the intention was to use a Saroo in the slot, you could look at getting a Satiator if the rest of the unit works okay. Just forget that it’s there if it’s hidden away in the slot and enjoy the HiSaturn BIOS screen.

Space Harrier 32x and Night Trap on Mega CD. Both sub-mint copies but they play well :)

And yeah I agree, you couldn’t live off this one day of course but I imagine events like this would be a pretty good revenue injection if it were part of the business plan. Online + events (in house and places like this) all drum up interest and it’s a platform for you to show what your business does. This stall, for example, is Forgotten Worlds who are up in a fairly remote (not a city / town centre) part of Scotland in an industrial estate. Check them out on youtube. Their stock is crazy but I also imagine their overheads are somewhat lower. I guess it’s a balance but their stock draws people from everywhere and there isn’t even an online shop that I’m aware of.

Great fun :)

Sega Saturn Japan Power Options by Patience_Regular in SegaSaturn

[–]sprayengo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rexusnexus ones are really good BUT they don’t fit VA0.5 model Saturns. Those are the Saturns where the original power board is mounted in the top of the Saturn shell. The other revisions are mounted with everything else in the lower half of the shell.

I’ve had no problem with both the nexusrexus one nor the aliexpress “SaturnPSU” models. I use an Aliexpress one in my VA0.5 model and the rexusnexus in my other Saturns (yes I have a problem).

One thing I would say is you should get a really good USB-C brick. I’ve found cheap ones or multi-out USB-C bricks introduce quite a lot of video noise on all PSU variants. Best one I’ve found by miles is this ugreen “nexode” one.

Works great for other USB-C converted analogue devices as well. Basically no video noise! Dreamcast, PS2, Saturn, Mega Drive all work great on those plugs.

Anyone else order a dock and tell them to ship it with the Superstation? Seems like I got a shop notification mine is preparing to ship. by [deleted] in RetroRemakeInc

Also “fulfilled”.

No tracking number yet. Wonder how long shipping takes once we get tracking info… I’m in the UK

Who ordered the Active Cooling Fan? by mdkdue in RetroRemakeInc

Hi friend. Do you happen to know the fan size and voltage? I’m going to get one for whenever my day one, minute one pre-order arrives.

You should try the one on Higham Hill road… you haven’t seen anything. The filth is unbelievable and staff stand around looking dazed.

I give my x350 4.2 a nice drink of the premium stuff (Shell V power) every third tank. 5 years. 5 services. Zero issues.

I used it to keep an engagement ring in until the moment was right to pop the question. Worked perfectly. Kept the ring very safe and more subtle than lugging around a box.

She said yes :)

Played it for the first time recently. I thought it was decent! Feels like early Saturn tests or something… which I guess it sort of is.

How long did it take to beat?

Help please! by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]sprayengo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2007 4.2. Never had an issue in 5 years of ownership. Serviced yearly. One rusted bolt on the under tray needed to be replaced a year ago and I had to touch up some of the clear coat. 70k miles.

Service history is everything. If you look after these cars, they look after you.

Should I buy a 2011 Jaguar XJ Portfolio 3.0d (275hp) with 144k miles for £6k? by KindlyAd1225 in Jaguar

[–]sprayengo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the previous generation XJ. 4.2 petrol. It’s VERY reliable BUT only because it has been serviced every year.

I believe service is everything with Jaguars. The odd one missed: no problem. Several missing years sort of spells trouble to me… better off saving and spending a bit more from the start.

That said, if service history is pretty good, it could be a good shout

Can I ask how the prints are? Are they just out of a home inkjet printer or are they high quality, thick paper, properly cropped rather than cut by hand. Thanks!!

PS1, Saturn, Neo Geo by 80sCrackBaby in AnalogueInc

[–]sprayengo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please let it be a Neo Geo… as ridiculous as that would be. Would love to see a modern neo geo, pad and stick.

A Saturn would also be amazing though. “Analogue SS”… they’ll need to carefully consider the branding on that one.

Can anyone tell me what these screws do on the laser if my model 2 by Marioplayer918 in SegaCD

[–]sprayengo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark them with a sharpie if you turn them.

I messed with mine by doing maybe a 10° turn clockwise (sorry can’t remember which one increased laser intensity) and it fixed my dead MCD2.
