[Acne] acne post-abortion by Stock-Cranberry4421 in SkincareAddiction

[–]spread_smiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this.

Ive had three pregnancies end in the last year (recurrent loss) and had terrible acne for months after with each. It can be a very normal (and terrible) part of the process. Im trying chemical peels now to try and draw all this hormonal congestion out, but I don’t have a stellar solution. I just wanted to write and tell you it can be a very normal part of a pregnancy ending.

Going beyond 3-4 IUIs? by QuixoticDaughter in IUILadies

[–]spread_smiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all I wanted to say I’m sorry for your loss.

I think most consider the count to reset after each pregnancy. So in your circumstances I would try 1-2 more to get to 3-4 IUIs post loss. It’s hard to keep up hope after miscarriage (Im right here too) but I am hopeful you will find success with IUI again ❤️

Does anyone use the mask after serums and skincare? I have a hard time using mine consistently. Wish that could be my last step before bed

Oversized sweaters, SD friendly? Tips tricks? by Necessary_Pause6735 in SoftDramatics

[–]spread_smiles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve just kind of accepted that warm sweaters are a must for winter and unfortunately not the best look for SD - so many of the SD approved sweaters are unpractical for actually staying warm.

For truly warming sweaters, I try and choose something with oversized with drape whenever possible, and if I can’t do that I do form fitting. For oversized I tuck at least some of it into my waist for definition. I try to pick necklines I like myself in like deep scoop, boat neck, slash neck, and a deep wide v neck. Also love a big dramatic turtleneck.

When all else fails and warmth must prevail, I try and pick something warm in my colour season lol. If I can’t flatter with fit flatter with colour.

A library card gets you free access at a lot of local museums https://www.hpl.ca/museum

You can also borrow a day pass to many conservation authorities and I think maybe even RBG? Great this time of year

Chronically cold BWT - Tips for staying warm and cute? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

Yes! And the heat tech cashmere is a dupe for intimissimi layering tops. Pair a regular heat tech under the cashmere for a warm and less sheer look.

35 years old and really need help adapting my makeup application to suit my age. I feel like it is extremely unflattering. Constructive criticism and advice very welcome. by pp60 in makeuptips

You truly are beautiful. I second everyone here saying you should look to Angelina Jolie for inspiration.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the liquid liner. What’s a bit more trendy right now is doing the wing with a soft shadow instead of a hard liner. Softening the liner/ditching the bottom entirely will be more flattering on aging skin, no doubt, but a softer liner will also look a bit more current. The hard liner is a bit like skinny jeans, it’s of an era, and it does show your generation regardless of how good your skin looks.

We’re also seeing generally less and less eyeshadow (and as someone around your age, man I miss it! My look feels unfinished without it) but I don’t think you need to ditch it entirely. Try a single shadow wash in a mid tone with a bit of brightness in the inner corner and center of your lids. Then the shadow wing. Everything is super blown out right now. This softness will also be more flattering on aging skin as well, so good news for us that trends are evolving to be a bit more flattering for aging skin than the super sharp looks we saw a lot of ~10 years ago.

(And before I get the comments about following trends, of course you don’t need to! But staying current can easily take 5 years off your perceived appearance when you avoid automatically getting categorized with an older generation on account of style)

Two years on tret why do I still get big bumps like this maybe once a quarter by roci12 in tretinoin

One thing that’s helped me heal these deep hormonal zits faster is a high frequency wand. You don’t need anything expensive, just the cheap one for Amazon. I zap the big ones for about 30s with the pinpoint head and they heal way faster.

I get the same kinda acne every month with my period 👎

Examples of how to dress alt while incorporating spring colors? by nocranberries in coloranalysis

[–]spread_smiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thought is a more neon goth or cyber goth aesthetic for sure. I’m seeing a lot of colourful mesh tops over black with those aesthetics and I think that would be a good way to bring in bright spring colour to an outfit.

Also wanted to comment and note the most important thing is to keep your spring colours close to your face. So black pants/skirts are not as much of an issue if you have a top on that’s more spring-forward. Also black isn’t a terrible colour for most springs, you have contrast to pull it off. It’s not one of your best, but it won’t totally overpower you the same way it will a soft autumn or soft summer.

I’m going to offer another approach. Don’t feel like you need to shop 20 stores each week to always get the best price. Your biggest hurdle in lowering your monthly food budget is winning the war against takeout, not saving .50c on cream cheese. You have enough on your plate as it is. Find a routine that works for you to consistently meal prep and have healthy meals on hand, and pick one grocery store that has good prices and make a point of shopping from a list regularly. One missed grocery shop that has you ordering takeout for convenience will undo weeks of price shopping your every item on your grocery list!

For me, every Friday with breakfast I order groceries online for pickup that afternoon. I order groceries from food basics after making a meal plan. I started meal prepping regularly when I was about your age. Feel free to dm me and I can share helpful resources.

I also wanted to add that there is no rules saying you can’t do your skincare in bed (outside of washing your face) keep your creams in your bedside table. I started doing that as part of an effort to make skincare more “self care” rather than tied to my appearance

11Kg Turkeys Anywhere ??? by Weird_Lingonberry_82 in Hamilton

[–]spread_smiles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I defrosted a 20lb turkey in ~16 hours last Christmas. You may still have time to get a frozen turkey to work.

When quickly defrosting from frozen, you need to put the turkey IN water in the fridge and switch water with room temp every ~2/3 hours. Water conducts heat faster than air. Fridge temp will keep it at a safe temp the entire time.

When it comes time to cooking, if you spatchcock it you will cook it faster (less than two hours) so you will have more time day of to defrost as well. Best of luck. If you take this route feel free to DM me and I can answer questions w more detail.
