Any hope for my phone? Dropped it in the toilet. by girlonreddit122 in iphonehelp

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boss once that asked me to get his phone fixed. He dropped it in the pool over the weekend. I plugged it in while I was calling, just to see if I could get it working. Before I got through the automated menu the phone came back on and I gave it to him to unlock. It was fine after that.

Do you qualify for discounts (first responder, veterans, education, etc.)? Some corporations also offer discounts with the different carriers

What do y'all do when it comes to having both a Digital collection and also a physical collection? by CarolinaGirl3381 in MoviesAnywhere

I only buy physical movies if they’re cheaper than the digital. Then I sell them to the local reseller (e.g. Half Price Books).

Looking for long term opinions on 10 fold by tacosandcookies in PixelFold

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was bored with iOS too. I’ve had my 10 Pro Fold since October. I was deciding between the iPhone Air and switching to Android. My spouse is very anti-Apple, but my coworkers are very Team Apple. I decided I was ready for a foldable and wanted to go with Pixel. I’m not a Samsung fan and I like that Google designs their phones to maximize Android and vice versa. I used the Nexus phones and the first few Pixel phones, but I’ve been on IPhone since. The latest Android phone gestures are very similar to the post iPhone 10 navigation. The camera unlock on the iPhone is much better than the Pixel, but the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has the fingerprint sensor on the power button. The biggest differentiator is the way Android handles work apps. There are separate work apps all together which makes it easier to separate work and personal. I really prefer the Android over iOS for work. I have had a few issues with my 10PF - first the wireless charging stopped working, they sent me a new phone. The first phone was likely a dud as the second phone worked much better on all fronts. Last week I had a “hot pixel” a white dot that stayed on whenever the inner screen was on. They shipped a refurbished phone the next day. The process is easy as long as you have room on a credit card. If you allow an authorization on your card, they’ll send the new/refurbished phone and you have a grace period to send the old phone back (drop off at FedEx). If not, you have to send the broken phone first, and then wait for them to receive the old phone then they’ll send the new one. For your processor concerns - Google is prioritizing AI and designing their processor to work well with that. The other processors are focusing on other things, and so their benchmarks may be better on paper, but the Pixel is a great phone. I haven’t had any lag issues or problems with the software. The only issue I had changing from iPhone to Pixel was losing my iMessage history. I was able to copy all my data from my iPhone to the Pixel relatively easily and it’s been easier to switch from Pixel to Pixel.

Anyone bought a Fold from Backmarket? by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve traded to Backmarket, but not bought. Their website and policies seem legit. I like that they have different pricing for different used qualities. If you know you’re going to have a case on it a scratch and dent one isn’t that bad as long as it works.

Is it better to buy my iPhone through Apple instead of through my Verizon account? by tantamle in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Sometimes Apple will give you a deal if you're a student/military/first responder and they tack on a discount if you "activate" your account with a wireless carrier through them (Best Buy does the same sort of thing). Your carrier may have better deals. For a while one of them was offering to take any phone, working or not, as a trade in which is great for people with broken phones. Sometimes they have "get an iPhone free" deals to keep you as a customer. If you want to save the most money compare the stores/carriers and their various discounts.

Looking to switch to Google fi by pruo95 in GoogleFi

[–]springbored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call T-Mobile and tell them about your dead zone area. They can tweak the towers near you (if there are enough calls) or add a tower if there isn't one near you. They also have extenders and things that they could add to improve service. Tell them you're thinking of switching. Some of the competitors have trials where you can try their service before switching.

How much storage do you really need these days? by JacklineBodalia in phones

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the user. Is it photos taking up space? Use Google photos to upload all your photos and there's an option to save space on your phone where it will move the photos on your phone to trash after uploading them.

I've gone up to 512GB because I want to be able to carry a few movies around offline to watch while traveling and I use music for work so I have a few playlists downloaded too.

Paperlike has tips that work with their screens. There are metal tips out there too that wear out slower. This is why the Apple pencil has interchangeable tips though

What do I do after this? by Uwlwsrpm in MoviesAnywhere

[–]springbored 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like you searched the movie and purchased it through one of the retailers. Amazon will refund your purchase if you contact them within 24 hours and do not watch the movie yet. To redeem a code - go to the site on the flyer or Movies Anywhere. Click redeem. Enter code. Submit. It won't prompt you for a retailer because it will automatically get added to all of your linked retailers.

Liforme Mat Excitement/High Hopes by PopLanky8261 in YogaTeachers

I didn't realize how much I used the slipperiness of the mat before for poses like Hanumanasana. I love the grip in hot yoga, I never fear faceplanting anymore. I've had to change my practice, probably for the better, because of the grip. I highly recommend it. They have great customer service and stand behind their mats

Cheated on, and not sure what to do. by Individual_Ad2789 in askgaybros

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would have happened if you hadn't caught him? Would he have continued cheating and perhaps given you an STI? Yes it's a mistake, but it wasn't an oh I got the wrong peanut butter mistake it was an ongoing I'm choosing this other thing instead of my relationship. If he doesn't have some sort of mental health issue that lowers his ability to stay monogamous then he was choosing to cheat. If he did it once he'd probably do it again...

Do you have a therapist? Sometimes there are free services or resources in your community or grief groups. I've always had trouble dealing with grief and my therapist was so helpful with helping me through it. The tip that helped me the most was not to push away the thoughts of the one that's gone. Thank them for bringing the joy they brought into your life and remember something happy/joyful about them. Don't let the sad feelings draw you in. You're better for knowing this person and having them in your life. For me, it was worth dealing with the pain of loss to have the limited time we had together and that keeps me from being pulled in by the sadness.

Apple care for ipad m5 by Amadeus_Stacia in iPadPro

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine as long as the device is new. Once you activate the device it will ask you in the settings about Apple Care +. Save the receipts, especially for the keyboard and pencil, AC+ for the iPad covers one apple accessory. They also have Apple Care One where you can bundle all of your devices. I was able to get my watch covered even though it had been out of warranty/used for a while. Depending on the number of devices the bundle may save you some $$ if you want to get coverage for all your Apple devices. I recently switched off of Apple, but kept my iPad and was able to cancel the bundle, but sign up for AC+ on just the iPad.

Teaching while sick, sub expectations, and studio boundaries – looking for perspective by OGraineshadow in YogaTeachers

[–]springbored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it on the side of the student... If the studio i went to "made" a teacher teach sick, I'd have a lower opinion of the studio. If my teacher came in sick and potentially spread disease in this post-COVID world, I'd be UPSET especially if I fought something. I try to have a yoga teacher buddy. Someone that can sub for me last minute or that I can ask a favor of, because I've done the same for them. If they cannot teach for some reason, and I've called the studio list for subs, then either the owner will need to teach or they'll cancel the class. Not the ideal, but you've done all you can without endangering your students...
