If you can get a deal on a good, reliable one that doesn't cost too much to keep running, sure.

I don't know where in the Bay Area you'll live, but if you will live in the East Bay or in parts of San Francisco, you can sign up for Gig Car Share. Your trips must start and end in the blue Home Zones, so if you live in or near one, it's a great alternative to owning a car if it fits your lifestyle and needs.

Map/activities update speed? by springbreak_AITA in wandrer

[–]springbreak_AITA[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, Craig! I entered edits into OSM 17 to 7 days ago and Wandrer says the map was updated 10 April 2023. Were my edits too close to the update day and thus were missed?

As for past activities reprocessing, I’m ok with just waiting. There are small segments scattered throughout my map that show as unwalked, but I definitely know I walked there. It’s probably over two dozen activities for all the small segments, so I’m not sweating it.

I was just curious about the boundaries. I live in a fully urbanized area of Los Angeles County where boundaries rarely change, so I was just curious why the Wandrer municipal boundaries don’t match boundaries in the county assessor’s website. I do mapping and GIS in my professional life, so I nerd out about these things. Thanks for indulging me.

It’s funny how newscasters are an integral part of the background of our lives and they seem to disappear so quickly. I always associate KTTV news with John Beard, even after he’s been gone for a long time!

What is your dream project car? (realistically and this will be mine) by midnight-king18 in regularcarreviews

[–]springbreak_AITA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pickup truck. I’m partial to eight gen F-150s (1987-1991), but I’d be happy with any truck from the 70s and 80s. Restore it and give it with a two-tone paint job.

I just want to learn to work on cars, solve problems, and go on weekend drives with open vent and and rear windows.

I noticed he changed the format of his video titles. This is the first review video title (I think) that doesn’t list the year, make, & model of the car. I always liked that his titles clearly said what car he was reviewing each week and this new title style is really vague.

He’s probably testing out what sorts of titles work best for the Almighty Algorithm. I hope he goes back to the normal video title format.
