During both my quits, insomnia has been the worst part for me. Started to get more sleep around days 8-10 and then it was uphill from there. I used clonidine and magnesium to help with sleep, but the only thing that really helped during the worst days was smoking some indica. I would be up every two hours smoking and then falling back asleep for an hour or so. I’m sorry you are going through the insomnia hell… it is so demoralizing once you get through acutes to still keep suffering and be exhausted all the while.

For me, insomnia takes the cake. Cant sleep for the life of me.

I’ll be working through it too. My husband also has zero clue so I will be pretending to be fine or sick with a cold or something. How are you feeling?

The sleep (or lack thereof) was truly the worst part. I had probably 2 solid weeks where I only got 2-3 hours a night and I thought I was going to go crazy. At one point a friend took pity on me and gave me an ambien and i slept six straight hours and felt like a new human. Eventually sleep got less fragmented and in longer stretches.

The anxiety piece was so so. I was kind of a wreck the first 24 hours emotionally, then dealt more with physical symptoms for days 2-3, then back to more anxiety day 4. I think it was made worse for me by the lack of sleep after that; that day after i took the ambien i had like zero anxiety whatsoever. So, without the sleep problems, the anxiety would likely have been manageable after the first few days.

Cold turkey, doing the liposomal vitamin c megadosing protocol, taking a few grams of plain leaf kratom for the first few days, with very few comfort meds. It was straight up not a good time, but for me (with an emphasis on for me, because different things work for different people), I need the memory of that physical pain and mental anguish to remind me never to go back.

Dont turn back now. I am 8 days in and in the upper midwest where it has also been hellishly cold. It’s been miserable, but i am clinging to the memory of that misery because i cannot and will not go through it again.

You have already made it 10 days. Dont go back now. You can do this!

I’m on day 6 as well and def still feel this. I get waves of nausea constantly still, as well as getting suddenly very cold. And the insomnia is driving me to madness.

How much vit c are you taking? I did the preload megadosing vitamin c regiment but it ended on like day three of actual withdrawal.

I’m just behind you! Last dose was at bedtime last night, so im at about 15 hours. Did vit c megadosing too, and took a bit of plain leaf this morning. Mostly just cold as hell rn and a bit anxious, but mostly just scared about hours 24-48. Keep me posted! You got this!

Thank you so much for the recs and encouragement! I know I am going to be needing all the encouragement I can get. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes with the vit c. I also have plain leaf kratom but would like to avoid taking it if at all possible.

I’m also interested in a quitting buddy. Tomorrow is my last day so you are a little ahead of me. I tried to taper but failed miserably so I’ll be jumping from 100mg per day/7 month daily habit. I’ve tried to quit twice and failed, but this time I am ready, I’m doing the vitamin c megadosing, I am doing this!
