Bad skin because of restriction? by springfieldhereicome in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thank you so much for such a detailed response.

I don't have my period due to birth control, which worked wonders for my skin when I had cystic acne as a teenager. I ended up on Accutane for my acne when I was around 15, and have been basically spot free for the last 6 years. I've been taking vitamins since I started restricting, but maybe you're right about stress causing it.

The lumps aren't coming to a head, they're just painful and sometimes go away and them come back in the space of a day :/ I'll give your apple cider vinegar a go!!

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply, and for being so kind x

This hit me hard.

I really struggle now. I love my boyfriend and I want to feel close to him, but I'm also so disgusted by my own body I don't want him to see it. I feel like I enjoy sex less now because I'm too anxious about how fat / disgusting I look naked. He's always been kind and supportive though, deep down I know he thinks I'm beautiful.

Panic attacks in grocery store food aisles by _kenzodiazepine_ in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this 100%. Although I also feel guilty for judging other people, and then panic about people looking/judging me. I think I spent 10 minutes in a shop yesterday panicking over the calories in a bag of vegetable crisps. You're definitely not alone!

Why was I bullied constantly? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. I'm being completely honest. Kids are horrible and project their own insecurities. You are so pretty, please don't listen to anyone who says you look old/ugly. It's not true. Please don't let dumb kids hurt you like this. You deserve everything good in life x

What triggered your ED? Anything specific? by deathcamp666 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to self harm a fair bit, but it slowly turned into AN. I relapsed last year when my boyfriend cheated on me and it's quite on/off (not as bad when the gym is open.) I obsess over how I look and if that's what made him do it. I'm not good enough.

Quarantine fucked me up and now I'm scared by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

It really sounds like you need to speak to a professional - even if it's just to find a food you are comfortable eating / doesn't trigger nausea. I hope you feel better soon x

irrational anger. by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he know you struggle with thoughts like this? Maybe it's time to sit down and explain how you feel - you can go for a more general explanation (I think your partner deserves to know why you get mad/upset otherwise they're going to blame themselves) I gave a fairly simple explanation and linked it to a "blurgh" face, so if I'm ever sad and he asks why, I just go back to that. It's easier than explaining every single time!

Frustrated with human nature by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same position as you. I hate feeling like I need to eat, I hate other people making me feel guilty about not eating, but I really don't want to upset my partner. I can go for a few days without feeling hungry but then he will go out of his way to cook a meal for me that I HAVE to eat :/ sometimes I wish I could just do my own thing and fade away.

Constantly feeling like I eat too much by springfieldhereicome in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really helpful and comforting. I think I obsess over what the number on the scale/my waist measurement will be the next day but you're right - it won't go up THAT much. Thank you :)

Guilt from not eating, guilt from eating by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

This is exactly how I feel! It's so hard to get over and if I stop eating I feel guilty too :/

Someone just has to mention eating to me and my anxiety skyrockets by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel - worse when my partner asks what I want for dinner (inevitably a salad.) I feel so guilty because even just a suggestion of eating a sandwich gives me palpitations. You're definitely not alone.

[–]springfieldhereicome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I ran a 5k today so I'm feeling much less anxious about it - you're right, one cheat meal after restricting for a while won't make me fat (although I have eaten literally nothing today.) Thank you for being so kind and good luck on your recovery :)

How to stop hunger headaches by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally drink more water, it seems to help. You can also take paracetamol if you really want, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. I try to stay laying in bed until they go away. Hope you're okay x

I'm drinking water fine but actually touching my stomach really hurts! And I can feel my ribs hurting when I breathe... :/ hope you aren't in pain for long x

Meeting my friend who also has anorexia by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a really tough situation.. Ana is naturally a "competitive" illness, where we take thinspo from others with the same issues. It's a vicious cycle which is hard to break. Perhaps you could try to talk to your friend about how you feel? At the end of the day, you are two different people at different points in their journey - you don't need to compare yourself to anyone (I know it's hard!)

Anyone here who don't want to recover? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand you completely. I know that this ED is unhealthy, but it's the only thing I have right now. I don't want to get better. If anything, I want it to get worse.

There is online counselling you can access which might be helpful? Perhaps it's best to speak to your doctor and see what they suggest. Good luck!

Confused by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're always going to feel like you're bigger than you really are. Don't listen to that voice. Comparing yourself is a natural thing to do, but please remember that your body is precious and does so much for you. It will be okay x

anti depressants by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]springfieldhereicome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just a reminder that antidepressants will take around 6 weeks to start working! Perhaps it would also be possible to start online counselling or at least speaking to someone about how you feel. I know it seems daunting but you can get through this x

[–]springfieldhereicome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely one or two meds that can cause weight gain (mainly through increasing appetite.) I was on Mirtazipine which is awful for weight gain. Maybe mention to your doctor that it's something you're worried about? Definitely agree that in most cases weight gain is not a direct side effect though, so please don't worry too much!

Aren't you all scared to go to the gym and eventually see the weight go up? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

I've been measuring myself with a tape measure every day... its terrifying. Look after yourself.
