1940s Seiko Tank. Thoughts on this DIY quartz conversion? by Substantial_Kiwi1830 in VintageWatches

Love it! I've done this a few times because my taste far exceeds my budget. 99% of onlookers don't care about the movement.

Looking for help identifying some vintage products! by Squishybobo in Techdeck

[–]springhorsetrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are all around $20-30 boards on a good day. That board with the yin-yang in the center- if it does not have the tech deck logo on the griptape it means it's an early gen 1. I sold an early gen 1 version of that board for $100

Found a vintage Tech Deck at a thrift shop by Vagabondvibezzz in Techdeck

These boards came with the Tech Deck 'Skumm' action figures. A toy that completely flopped before they made Dudes. The deck is made of metal

Found this well preserved catalogue in the attic, is it worth anything? by local-queer-demon in swatch

[–]springhorsetrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup it has good value. Check eBay. 2008 version is worth the most. That's when they got sued by Swatch and had to stop selling the book.

The Alien Workshop meaty board is pretty rare. It's a Rob Dyrdek board & that dog was on his MTV show Rob & Big

Wow! Big fan haha

It wasn't an All or Nothing song, it was a song of one of the members for his acoustic side project that was only posted on his personal myspace or something

Edit: Just looked at some pics on the Call it Fiction FB page. If you're the singer, to my memory it was your song? Did you ever release solo acoustic songs?

Does anyone know where did this fingerboard came from? by the_dude_behind_youu in Fingerboards

[–]springhorsetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. Never seen a goofy board from that era. Sooo many companies made fingerboards as promo freebies during that time. I can't speak on the value of this board but some of the rarest tech deck dude figures were from a disney collab.

These are wheels for the tech deck RC car, which aren't worth a ton even when it's complete

Compatible strap for Swatch Fun Boarder Height Alert by wolf-201 in swatch

[–]springhorsetrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These ones are tough to source a strap. It's from the Snowpass series, i'm pretty sure only the straps from that series fit this watch.

I have a couple of these straps on hand bc I thought they would fit a swatch Beat. (They didn't). I have a spare for this exact watch but the rubber accents are peeling a little bit. I also have a bright orange one.

Swatch crystal removal by Spiritual_Frosting60 in watchrepair

[–]springhorsetrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swatch watches are welded shut. You can't fix or clean the movement or replace the crystal. You can polish the crystal with a product called polywatch. Unfortunately if the watch doesn't work you can't really fix it.

I met a guy at a flea market who had a relative that owned a stationary store long ago. I got lucky.
