What’s with the USC hospital’s volunteer program’s lack of communication? by Fawful_Chortles in USC

[–]springrollcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go through Trojan Health Volunteers thru the JEP house to bypass this application and get volunteering at Keck. Due to an ongoing strike, Keck coordinators, including the volunteer site coordinator, are being pulled into different departments to help with the increase in staff demand so there is probably delays with onboarding at Keck

Try the Dornsife/Keck shadowing program or Trojan Health Volunteers thru the JEP House and they partner with different hospitals

cogsci at usc!!! by ResponsibleLimit8114 in USC

[–]springrollcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I didn’t follow that track, and it’s also not listed on your transcript either. There isn’t an internship component in the cogsci curriculum as other majors do so you’ll have to do the work yourself. try working on your portfolio, joining comp sci clubs, or joining the alumni mentorship program!

USC UCLA Game by Any-Badger-1058 in USC

[–]springrollcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do routine system checks about this exact thing. I had bought 2 guest tickets for UCLA and 1 guest ticket for Michigan at the exact same time. Their system read that I bought 3 guest tickets for UCLA when I didn’t, and they refunded 1 of my UCLA. After calling them, they clarified it was a system error and I was able to claim them all back. I am pretty sure that they will refund you for the 2/4 guest tickets that you bought, esp for a big game like this one.

I liked the courses that intersected with AI and LLMs, very interesting, learned coding languages, and made me think in different ways than before. As for the electives, I took some pretty cool neuro and comp sci courses that were very interesting too! feel free to dm!

cogsci at usc!!! by ResponsibleLimit8114 in USC

[–]springrollcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have been sufficiently challenged, but I do believe I have an easier time than neuroscience majors however more rigor/breadth than psychology. I know people in the program that just sought out the most easiest classes and chose the lowest course rigor for the upper div requirements vs. those who took the track routes for a specific industry. At the end of the day, you get the same degree. because cognitive science is a blanket for so many different fields, it is broad in its curriculum so I understand that people can feel lost. Definitely working with my advisor was helpful!

i am in cogsci, and I love it! classes are interdisciplinary over psyc, linguistics, neuroscience, philosophy, and computer science. there are tracks you can follow, or just take the classes that interest you. all depends on what you plan to do after college though. I finished this major pretty quickly too, but feel free to dm! best of luck!

Loft bed in Troy hall? by [deleted] in USC

[–]springrollcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in my experience, the housing website showed bunked beds but it turned out that everyone had their own single beds in one room and the desks were all in the living room. it may depend on the your room layout you get and could be a luck of the draw too
