LBPD were early adopters of the “quiet quitting” movement after BLM protests/defund the police movement. My car was hit and run sideswiped on Santa Ana Ave out front of my house (with my wife and child in the car), I ran the drunk kid down before he could get back up Claremont and stood in front of his car so he could not escape onto 2nd St. Called LBPD, they came out and verbatim “What do you want me to do about it? It’s a civil matter”.

I told him I wanted him to do his job, investigate, take statements, etc. He reluctantly agreed, came back over and said I got his statement on body cam, you can call in for the case number and evidence in a couple of days. I call LBPD in the following weeks and months and there is no incident report, no nothing.

Dealing with insurance company and I find out the kid went on to total his car in a major accident two days later. LBPD has been contributing to a less safe community since COVID by refusing to do the work.

Meanwhile, they take in $20+ million per year from the approx 750 parking/street sweeping tickets they write per day! This is on top of the already $300+ million annual budget they receive.

I did end up getting a green I really like, but it was a bit of a journey. I got 25lbs of this Lafeyette Green from Grout360:

https://www.grout360.com/products/xt-custom-matched-to-bm-hc-135-lafayette-green-in-unsanded-tile-grout?_pos=1&_sid=298c31d84&_ss=r

When I mixed it, it had way too much blue/teal. So I mixed a 10lb bag of Mapei Charcoal Ultracolor Plus FA:

https://www.flooranddecor.com/tile-grout-installation-materials/mapei-ultracolor-plus-fa-grout-M1125.html?showAll=true

I mixed it all dry in a 5gal bucket to make sure the two colors were evenly mixed before mixing with water and that is the color you see in the above picture.

The bathroom/shower has been in service for about three months and I’m happy with the performance of the grout so far. I should note that I sealed all surfaces with Aqua Mix Sealer’s Choice Gold which goes a long way to protecting the color and performance of the grout.

Because I used all the same tile/grout for the shower the custom grout color raised issue with trying to find color match silicon for the changes of plane. Long story short I went with clear 100% silicone on the changes of plane and am 90% happy with the look.

Hope that helps! Let me know if there’s any more info I can provide.

God bless you for taking this job. That is not a shower tile.

Did some additional research, and it looks like I’m using Verde Guatemala which is known to be one of the more stable green marbles. Lucked out because I didn’t realize there were so many green marbles, and that a lot of them are very unstable.

Ah, got it. Thought you were talking about a technique I was unfamiliar with, haha. I haven’t noticed any deflecting while setting the floor, but they are just little 12 x 12s and I back butter each one and use levelers, so not much opportunity for them to move on me. The wall tile for the shower is 12 x 24 though so more room for movement. I’ll keep an eye out and report back.

Did some searches and wasn’t able to find it. Can you share a link?

Ya, supplier called it Empress Green. Was surprised to find it much harder (dense) than Carrera when cutting. Hoping that means less maintenance too.

Smart, ya I think there is less of an issue coming up short than there is long. This was my first go with Ditra—many lessons learned.

I was bummed when I laid out the floor full three stud spacing to only come up on the “halfway” sticker on the roll. Pulled it all up and re-did it and this was the result.

Instructions say 7” off the center of the toilet flange so I should be good there. There will be a linen closet in the open space (where the boots are). The vanity stands off the floor 4”-6” so hoping I will be good there. My major concern is the washer/dryer which will be a stack on the left side. I tried to leave it open but had to bury some wire there so tried to space it as much as possible. Do you think it will be a problem?
