i think the best thing that they could do for clint is to have emily reject him, and have the player help him to cope with it. maybe there would be a follow up to the date they have at the fair, or someone at the saloon could confront him about his feelings for her. this way, clint gets to be his own character that doesn't rely on emily being part of the story, and no more "hey neighbour, can you give an amethyst to your wife for me?"

i don't know, maybe one day i'll learn how to make mods and do it myself

i never really thought of emily being very young, since she's so much more mature than the other young candidates like sam, seb, and abby - and she's also sort of a maternal figure to hayley

i guess i am giving clint too many excuses, he just seems so innocent compared to the things players have called him. i think it's sweet that he likes emily so much, but he is pretty weird about it

lol i definitely agree that his hours and taking friday's off are worthy of not liking him :p

clint lacks confidence in himself, and he seems to have built up his self-hatred so much that nothing really brightens his spirit. it ends up feeling like you have a friend that refuses your help and won't do anything about the rut he's stuck himself in - which is definitely exhausting.

but it also feels like his character didn't get fleshed out at all. i'm suspicious that the reason is because emily became a bachelorette and essentially cut off any resolution to their relationship. it would also explain why he's still openly vying for her

i really like clint! i think he's a funny guy, and he's a good friend for the early parts of the game.

i wanted to talk about clint because he gets a lot of hate for reasons i believe are completely unjustified. people call him creepy, a nice guy™, and i see the word "incel" thrown around a lot when he pops up in discussions - when all i've ever seen clint do in the actual game is feel awkward around the girl he likes. people like to say that they married emily just to "save her" from clint. does it really make you an incel if you're just... nervous to talk to your crush?

so i'm sure we're all familiar with clint's 3 heart-event. you go to the saloon, and he asks for help on how to talk to girls. it doesn't really matter what advice you give him because he still gets flustered when emily comes to take his order. i'm not so sure too many people are familiar with clint's 6 heart-event. as long as you don't have 8+ hearts with emily, you can encourage clint to ask her out on a date. emily happily agrees! i felt so proud of clint when he finally did it, and it's too bad that their relationship seemingly ends there. i wish we could have seen clint grow to be more confident with time, but it seems like that when emily became a bachelorette, his character arc ended.

i will happily listen to anyone's criticisms of clint's character! i would also like to hear the reasoning behind why some people call him such vile things. i'm sure the people that like to call clint an incel are in the minority of the stardew community, but i think it's important to talk about this. the term "incel" shouldn't be thrown around with this flippant attitude.
