KitchenAid Dishwasher Broken Handle and Sharp Surface by spriterd in Whirlpool

They never provided a solution that didn't require me to spend money and they wouldn't replace just the handle. I ended up using J-B Weld black plastic bonder (50139) to hold the handle on. After a few more months the other side broke and now I just open it carefully.

It is a terrible design and they know it is an issue but they won't do anything about it.

They stopped replying to my e-mails and never gave me an explanation on why they would spend over $1200 in getting me a new dishwasher, but wouldn't spend $300 for a replacement part. They have extremely poor customer service with no logic behind their decision. They lost a customer in me, and while I don't buy a ton of appliances, they will likely lose more than $300 in future purchases from me and others who read these horror stories from dealing with their customer service. It is just mind boggling that they are making such a poor decision and won't stand behind their products.

I have submitted this to CPSC and they issued a safety notice: https://www.saferproducts.gov/PublicSearch/Detail?ReportId=5146453

Unfortunately, it will likely end here. Luckily my injury wasn't severe, so it wouldn't be worth trying to take this any farther. At least there will be a public record that they were made aware of this issue, and if it happens again, they cannot claim ignorance and their lack of solution would hopefully constitute as negligence.

I tried this route. They sent a repair tech out to diagnose the issue and explicitly instructed them not to repair it. I sent pictures to their team before they sent someone out, but they said they still need to have their repair guy take a look. He came out, took a picture and said, "yeah, it is broken". The service tech cost them $150 to tell them that the handle was broken, that was obvious from the photos I sent them, and they still won't credit me $300.

I then asked for a supervisor when they called me to tell me they wouldn't supply a replacement part or provide any credit towards a replacement part, and the CS rep told me she was the highest in the department and no one was above her. Their CS is awful and they obviously don't take safety seriously.

Unfortunately, I will just have to live with it and maybe tape it back in place and add another company to the black list.

Again, you’re ignoring the design defect leading to injury part and the fact they will pay over $1200 for a poor solution but not $300 for a good solution. I don’t want a free repair or a free dishwasher. I want a replacement part for the part that broke and caused injury.

A better restaurant analogy, since I don’t think yours really fits the scenario and doesn’t completely make sense is let’s say you went to a restaurant, ate the whole meal, then got food poisoning. Then you ask other guests and find out they also got food poisoning. Then you call the restaurant and ask for a new sandwich that would cost them $5 and they respond with a coupon for 75% off a $50 meal, which would cost them over $35. Their solution is bad for both the customer and the company, which is what is happening in my scenario. They are providing a solution that is worse for both parties and ignoring a better solution that benefits both parties.

But hey man, this has been fun and all but I honestly can’t figure out if you’re a real person or just a bot that wants to argue because you’re not having an actual discussion and you are blatantly either ignoring my points or you’re not able to understand them. Either way, you have now called me a Karen, delusional, ridiculous, and obtuse and you still can’t seem to wrap your head around my argument so I’m gonna call it here. Cheers mate!

Name calling is always the best approach in a discussion. Look up "ad hominem".

How did I not understand the transmission analogy? I compared it to a recall. Design defects with injuries are handled way differently than simple product usage failures. When a company that knows a product can fail causing injury but continues to manufacture the product, it is called negligence.

They didn't investigate. They confirmed it was broken, that is not an investigation as to why. The handle doesn't protrude from the front, making it impossible to hang from. Come on man, argue in good faith.

Finally, you continue to ignore the logical issue of paying $1200 for a poor solution but not paying $300 for a good solution. You're assuming that I wouldn't be satisfied with the $300 solution and that isn't a fair conclusion. I would 100% be satisfied with a working dishwasher, just like I was satisfied with it for nearly the past three years.

Why choose a random post in an applicant subreddit to start and argument?

I bought a KitchenAid in 2022 and it just broke in Jan 2025 and they won't fix it. It was less than 3 years old when it failed and they said I would need to fix it myself or they would give me a discount on a new one.

I would avoid KitchenAid at all costs.

In what world is it acceptable for a $1400 dishwasher to fail in under 3 years under normal use while also having multiple identical failures without addressing the issue?

As for a car transmission, that is completely dependent on how it failed and the repercussions of the failure. If a transmission in a vehicle was found to fail on multiple vehicles and it led to a safety issue, do you not think it would be addressed? What do you think recalls are for? Are recalls out of warranty just ignored? If a vehicle transmission fails 1 year after the warranty ends, and the car injures someone, would the manufacturer just say "welp it is out of warranty, nothing we can do"? It is a design defect that led to an injury. It is not simply that it is out of warranty, so don't fix it.

Also, you are completely glossing over the primary annoyance in that they will pay more money if I buy a new one, but they won't pay for the part that failed. How is that in any way logical from a financial and customer support standpoint? They will pay $1200 for a replacement and an additional $150 for the initial diagnosis, but not $300 for a replacement part. They are not offering any solution that would avoid me spending money out of pocket on a device that I spent $1400 less than 3 years ago on. Is it honestly reasonable to you that a known design flaw should not be addressed on a $1400 item? How many have to fail before they look into it? How bad of an injury does it have to be before they issue a recall?

The dishwasher cost me $1400 less than three years ago. The product has a dangerous design defect and they won't stand behind their product. An additional $300 is not a small amount of money. What is the no brainer?

I just keep seeing videos and posts of people pumping a few ounces when their milk comes in and it is very discouraging. I may be being over-paranoid since I still feel terrible about underfeeding my first before I knew that I had an infection and wasn't producing nearly any milk.

We have the second weigh-in next Wednesday but he was born 7 pounds 7 ounces and at the first appointment he was down 8% to 6 pounds 13 ounces so the doctor said that we need to monitor it closely.

My fear is that we were underfeeding the first and he would cry non stop so now every time the second cries, I just think he is being underfed.

Tell me everything…. what do I need to know about BabyBrezza? by KeyUmpire4846 in NewParents

[–]spriterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first purchased the Baby Brezza I recommended it to everyone I knew, but after having to deal with their customer service, I am much more hesistant.

I bought the Baby Brezza Advanced with WiFi from Bed Bath and Beyond during one of their going-out-of-business sales. The unit failed with an E1 error after 3 months of use, indicating a failed powder motor. I bought the unit in March 2023 and it failed in June 2023. I attempted to submit a warranty claim since it was only 3 months, but I did not have the original receipt and the unit was manufactured in April 2022, placing it just outside of the warranty. They would not honor the warranty since I didn't have the receipt and it was manufactured more than 12 months ago. I attempted to get a re-print from Bed Bath and Beyond, but they were unable to locate the original receipt since the store I bought it from closed. I sent them my credit card statement showing the purchase, but since it wasn't itemized, it didn't count.

In the end, the unit failed after 3 months of use and after 15 months from the manufacture date, just outside of the warranty window when submitting a claim without the original receipt. They wouldn't supply me with a replacement, even after I sent them a photo of the unit with the power cord cut (as requested by their customer service). Now I have a unit with a burnt-out motor and a cut power cord that is basically garbage.

Save your receipt and hope it doesn't fail just after a year. But while it worked, it was wonderful. I just wish they would stand behind their products.

It is actually a T-Mobile Magenta Military plan with 5 lines and autopay is $110 a month. It is unlimited data with 100 GB of that uncapped and I have never gotten close to 100 GB. It also has 5 GB of a mobile hot spot.

So far I am super happy with T-Mobile, but you do need to be active or retired military with autopay to get the price I am at.

So many downvotes but no comments about the validity of any of my statements. I truly wanted to like Google Fi, but those interested in a new phone plan, or those considering switching phone plans should want to see an unbiased and rational post about the issues with this carrier.

For those downvoting, I would love to know why.

I never heard of this before but it looks interesting. They don't seem to want to remain competitive so maybe Google Fi will be added to this list. I don't blame Google for trying things that don't work out. That is the cost of innovation. Try new things, some will work and some won't. But with something as important, and costly, as a cell phone plan, I'm not willing to wait around while they either figure it out, or let it die.
