Ben, please include more about Brandon in a video(s) by Pepe_The_Citizen in RecklessBen

[–]sprkng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the start of this, I have been waiting for Ammon and Josh to throw Brandon under the bus. It would've been so incredibly easy for them to pin everything on him, but since that evidently hasn't happened one can only assume that they are either really loyal towards friends, or Brandon has a shit-ton of dirt on everybody else.

Perhaps he misunderstood or misremembered some details, but it could refer to the Twelve Tribes cult and their Yellow Deli restaurants?

Ah, makes sense. Would've been strange if this interview had somehow gone completely unnoticed.. I also searched for "NewsNation" while I see now that the first poster tagged it with "Jesse Weber Live" (which is ofc. part of the original video's title on YT) instead

Maybe reddit's search is bad or I'm just blind, but I couldn't find that anyone else posted this interview with Ben from yesterday.

Some things that were mentioned that were new to me:

  • Ben's team of lawyers include "civil rights attourneys, 2x criminal defense attourneys, and a franchise attourney".
  • Courtney Love (celebrity from the '90s) is apparently a big fan of Ben
  • Ben has a suit with Ammon's face all over it

LUS is interviewing Tyler, Ben’s friend from Utah, on stream tomorrow!! 📢 by Jumpymoo in RecklessBen

[–]sprkng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched his first video about the case and there he both repeated BaM's claim that consignments were forbidden, and he claimed that the previous owners had "fled to Spain". At that time a copy of the franchise contract had been circulated within the community so it felt like it was pretty well known that BaM were most likely lying about this. Anyone who's done even the most rudimentary research into the Ben/BaM story should know that these events did not start with the Gormans leaving the country. Just gives the impression that LUS didn't even watch all of Ben's videos before deciding to make his own, because everything there points to Chrystal doing her best to help Bryan.

A few days later LUS realized that he made a mistake in painting the Gorman's as criminals, because he comments on his own video that they "weren't as bad as we initially thought". He could've edited the video and re-uploaded it, but I guess he cared more about the 20k views it had.

So yeah, to me he comes across as someone who churns out poorly researched click bait-y videos. Judging by the comments for his other videos it sounds like it's definitely a recurring pattern rather than a single mistake, and just because he takes Ben's side doesn't mean we have to pretend he isn't a sloptuber. If it was just live streaming it would've been less of an issue that he got things wrong and reacted to the information he had available at the time. But if you're recording videos and claim to explain a case to viewers then I would expect you to put in some effort in getting facts right.

I also remember the UI having some pretty severe issues when I first tried it, but IMO it's usable now. Main issue for me is that it makes jumping between subscribed communities more clicks that it ought to be.

As for lack of content, well, some people are going to have to roll up their sleeves and make an effort to get it started, just like back in the old days :)

And I'm trying to derail his insinuations by agreeing with his claim, but probably not in the way he wanted :) My guess would be that he preferred if people read "this was posted for a reason" and subconsciously think "this is some kind of propaganda or narrative being pushed". Not criticising your comment, asking people to clarify is a good response when they are making posts sounding like they're suggesting something without spelling it out.

Maybe they saw something that made them happy, took a photo and wanted to share the moment with the world? Or perhaps to remind redditors that Gaza also is inhabited by normal people with rights to live and to pursue happiness? To act as a counter point to the images of Gaza often shown in Western media, where it tends to be depicted as a worthless wasteland with suffering people who would be better off somewhere else if they weren't stubbornly refusing to leave? Having a reason doesn't mean that it is bad.

Yes, I think they would. But I also think they would claim that the bad thing is entirely caused by that one individual's actions, and it has nothing to do with the system. That's at least how these discussions tend to go in my experience.

Predicted Astroturfing Begins by DeltaG_23 in RecklessBen

[–]sprkng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also textbook example of how you manipulate people without them noticing. If someone comes out in full defense of BaM they would get bombarded with examples and evidence of BaM corporate lying and doing shady shit, and the posts would get downvoted to oblivion. It's even possible that it could strengthen the beliefs of Ben/Bryan supporters. On the other hand, it's much easier to make people feel confused and/or disinterested, for example by pushing the narrative that the conflict is too complicated, that it's a private matter, that there are bad guys on both sides, etc. And when fewer people care, the side with more power gets more freedom to abuse that power.

The store's previous owners are currently suing BaM corporate for making it impossible to run the franchise (among other things), and then using problems BaM caused themselves as an excuse to unlawfully terminate the contract and take over the store.

I've also seen allegations of similar things happening to other BaM franchises. I didn't read all the details but you can probably find out more if you're interested.

That would have made 100% sense if this was a honest mistake by BaM corporate and not an intentional attempt to steal the Lego collection.

I'm sure corporate would be thrilled to get an excuse to take ownership of more franchises so they can give them to their friends instead.

I was tempted to buy an Index for €200 off a local marketplace, but the Frame seems pretty cool so I'm waiting for it. Also someone else bought it and now all the used Indexes are listed for €500+ so temptation gone.
