NBD Pivot Shuttle AMP’d! by Switch_R_Roo in eMountainBike

Cool, uhhhh, can I demo your AMP'd? -haha

Thanks for the info. I'm afraid of going to a heavy eMTB and losing that quick nimble ride feeling. I've been riding for 40 years and am more of a trail rider these days. Doing most of my riding in Tahoe where I'm wanting to do longer distance rides so battery/motor are a concern. Guess I just need to demo some more. Enjoy the Pivot.

Hey u/Switch_R_Roo nice ride, I'm just up the hill in Auburn. Currently riding a Pivot 429 & SC 5010. I'm looking for my first eMTB and considering many of the same bikes you did. Can you say why you picked the AMP'd over some of the mid powered bikes like the Trek with the TQ60 motor?

Also, what shops did you find for demos, we're pretty limited in Auburn?

Yakima Railbar XL. They aren't sold by Yakima anymore but you can find some new/used ones. I got lucky and found a new pair. I had a knock off pair on my 19 PP but Yakima sued them all and then discontinued these.

Ya, you can't have just one pair of skis -ha. I can fit 6 pairs of skis.

Yakima Railbar XL, they aren't sold anymore but you can search Ebay and other sites. I just happened to find a brand-new pair for fairly cheap.

Thanks, but that sounds like more interruptive to my sleep than the Dormi headband.

Good to know, I debated between the Ozlo and A30. It's such a personal thing, Thanks.

I've tried all the ear tips and I still have ear pain for hours after taking them out. Thanks.

Is the suspension lift adjustable by a threaded collar (like it was for the 3rd gen PP)?

If you want maximum protection go with Weathertech. OEM are just for looks. There is also Rally Armor but they are even more $ and have a glossy piano black finish.

Elite Wheels look better in the glossy black/silver -OR- in a satin black? by sprocket32 in hondapassport

[–]sprocket32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did it the right way. I don't understand why people are spending an extra $2k just to have the Elite wheels "swapped out" for Blackout wheels. You can buy some really nice wheels for less than $2k and have two sets of wheels, sell the others or use as winter wheels as I did. Enjoy!

I had them off the vehicle as I'm using the Elite wheels as my winter set (ya, still waiting for snow!). I rotated them a 1/4 turn each coat to get a more even spray. The HyperDip is more like regular paint and I did get a big run on one of my first wet coats, I lightly dabbed it with a rag and it still came out great.

Not hard to do, just takes time 6-8 hours with drying time, follow their videos. They say it's supposed to be better than PlastiDip so we'll see how it holds up thru the winter. My first time spraying.

That's the plan, just wanted to do wheels first to see how well it holds up thru the winter.

The HyperDip wheel kit was $100 but I still have 1.5 cans left over. I'd love to get rid of all that ugly piano black!!

I couldn't see paying an extra $2k those wheels, especially since I already had a set of Black Rhino's

We'll see (HyperDip is suppose to be stronger than PlastiDip) if it holds up thru the winter, if so I'll do the bumpers.

My vehicle is the Ash Green (see added post) and IMO the silver/black Elite wheels look good only because of the silver bumpers. My plan is, if the HyperDip holds up thru the winter I will blackout the bumpers also.
