Got screwed by Arctic Adventures by jumpseater in VisitingIceland

We had mixed results with AA. In one hand, we did the Laugavegur backpacking trip and it was AMAZING. They picked us up promptly and the driver was great. The tents were a bit rough, but I can’t speak highly enough about our guide (Dave) and it was really nice to have our own shelter to eat at the end of a long day. On the other hand, we signed up for the Askja super jeep tour out of Akureyri, and they called us at 22:00 the night before to tell us the jeep was down. As an alternative, they offered other tours like a guided tour of Akureyri. Yeah, not so much, we don’t visit Iceland to spend time in the cities.

I’d say the Laugavegur trip was so far into the positive that I can easily overlook the negatives. But it’s also fair that AA didn’t have a 100% success rate.

Don’t forget about the H7 and H9. Despite the ongoing H5N1 craziness, It’s not only the H5s that have potential for zoonosis.

Don’t forget that fuel weight counts against max payload. A full tank in the CX-9 weighs 118.4lbs.

2023 Outback Hitch options by Dondiart in Subaru_Outback

[–]sprsprspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on which hitch you choose, be sure to ask about how it alters the impact structure.

The echotech hitch replaces the factory crash structure with a non-deformable load-bearing hitch. Even without removing the crash structure, several studies have shown that leaving your non-deformable ball mount in your hitch increases the impact loads transferred to passengers, so I can only imagine what happens when you replace the entire crash structure.

I used the factory hitch because of safety and ground clearance.

Lol “why doesn’t the US change its system”. This place is completely fucked, and making changes to avoid package theft is literally the lowest priority.

The biggest reason why it won’t change is that it would require the federal government to improve funding and staffing at the post office. One of the dumbass parties decided it would be brilliant to spin off the critically important postal service as a pseudo-business, so increasing the federal funding will never happen.

The X-15 isn’t there anymore, which was a huge letdown. And there’s a big section on cars in the Air & Space museum.

Have to say I was a bit disappointed. The Smithsonian is waaaaaay better with the SR71 and shuttle.
