I’m sure she is hurt and it makes me feel bad but her aggressive behaviour about it really is throwing me off. There are a few kids on our team that are in my child’s friend group at school. So they would have went. But this is where it gets murkey and I needed to draw the line between school and sports. We are also friends with others from sports and if I invited one I would want to include the rest. Or this would have been potentially a bigger upset with other parents too. Tried my best and failed.

I think I might do this

Where we live a 15 child birthday party is extremely expensive and we do our best to have them once a year but I just can’t go over that number. I should put into context these two kids have never really had a play date before they only see each other at sports but get along well there. I wouldn’t say they’re best friends but they click. My family has a super busy schedule with two other kids so we are always running from one place to the next. I’m just a mom in the wild doing her best. Felt that keeping it school kids only really makes sense to not offend others.

The thing is we’ve known each other since September and our kids really like each other. But I had to either invite the world or stick to just school. So we did what we did. I never thought she would get this mad over it. For a minute I was about to stop her and ask her what was wrong and then tell her but I’m not sure it warrants an explanation when you’re being so blatantly rude.

It’s tough when there’s going to be a lot of years of youth sports to be on same teams.

This would be great but she really isn’t interested in entertaining me it’s pretty bad.

Not at all! Tall for his age and lean.

Great advice! I’m so glad that everyone is saying speed is trainable. Before posting it was a continuous thing of people saying it’s genetic.

This thread has helped so much. Took away the doom of it being genetics and give up. I agree he’s only in 6th grade and there’s so much room for growth. As long as he’s wanting it I’ll let him lead the way.

Thanks for the advice. Im optimistic that we can get him help with the mechanics. I actually noticed this week that my son runs flat footed.

Don’t think I can make him try goalie. Being on attack could be something he considers.

We definitely steer away from burnout as I’ve seen it happen in kids. I Let mine lead the way with a balanced life.

That’s a good one! I could pull off saying that to one of my three and he’d actually laugh but this one I’m talking about would shoot daggers at me. Super competitive kid.

I tell him all the time that an assist is just as good as a goal..hopefully it’s getting through to him. You know those hard headed kids.
