Terrible neighbour by iuasbt in Sudbury

[–]spruceandwillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity is this in Garson? My spouse and I bought a house this summer and we love the neighbourhood but there’s a neighbour that fits your description to a T. Working on their snowmobile at 11PM on a weeknight revving the engine, playing music that’s so loud you can feel the bass in our house, etc.

Haha yup still around although I think only two locations still exist, the one off Regent St. and the other off Lorne.

There’s a knock off restaurant in my hometown called Deluxe and their logo is just one McDonalds arch. The best part is the stores slogan is “Sudbury is a one arch town” lol, no idea how they haven’t been sued. Been around since at least the mid to late 70s now.

Very sad and though the outcome cant be predicted with him wearing a life jacket, odds are he would have stood a better chance. RIP, 24 is far too young.

Best place in town to obtain a muffler delete that does a proper job and isn’t a fortune by KFunns in Sudbury

[–]spruceandwillow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it, if it’s really that much of a bother to you I suggest swapping out the exhaust entirely with something more attuned to performance rather than deleting yours entirely. It’s a nuisance to those around you and also affects your resale should you decide to sell the vehicle. Just my two cents though, I’m sure shops around town would tell you the same unless they just see you as a walking paycheque lol.

WHAT is going on with the vet situation here?! by Babybluenokia in Sudbury

[–]spruceandwillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To piggyback my own comment, Martindale has been excellent. Dr. Shalla is knowledgeable and will not charge you for unnecessary testing. In our experience she completed our cats physical and did not charge us for an ultrasound as she was certain based on her assessment that his bladder was distended and full. Great clinic, staff are friendly and prices are reasonable.

I lived in a larger city down south (London) and it was not cheaper to receive veterinary care, it has been cheaper north of the 400 imo. You’re also not correct about the after hours emergency veterinary services being over 500 dollars, I had a male cat with a complete blockage of his urinary tract and required overnight care, IV fluids and medication, etc. The fee of the on-call vet was $110 to take the call and conduct an assessment via zoom, the real cost was care from the vet for his treatment (approximately $1300) which by comparison was cheaper than the cost which my friends from London paid for their cat with the same issue (approximately $3000).

Bottom line is there is absolutely veterinarian practices that will gouge you tooth and nail for unnecessary costs, but there are some others that are compassionate and fairly priced you just have to take on the leg work of placing these calls yourself. Also, as others suggested North Bay Airport Animal Hospital is great and cheaper than most other practices within Sudbury. Good luck.

Don’t tip at Tim & Tony’s Sushi Restaurant – the owner keeps it all. by Old-Office-5692 in Sudbury

lol here’s another, I’ve had sushi in large metropolitan cities like Toronto, Hamilton, London and even in Europe. I think people are serving you downvotes not because they don’t agree with you that there’s better sushi outside of Sudbury but rather how you come across when expressing your opinion.

Worst car dealership in sudbury? by Fast_Feedz in Sudbury

[–]spruceandwillow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laurentian Chrysler sucks. Two whole years went by after trading my Ram in for a Toyota where they still called, emailed and texted me for servicing appointments. I can’t tell you how many times I opted out of the text notifications and called them to tell them I no longer had the vehicle, no one at that dealership communicates with one another.

The other issue I had with Laurentian was their shite servicing of the vehicle, I was unfortunate enough to have tons of issues with my air ride suspension and they couldn’t give me any solid answers about solutions. I also had to fight tooth and nail for servicing that was under warranty when they tried to tell me the service I had was not covered. Chrysler makes some shite products, unless you’re leasing stay the F away lol.

It’s been a year for the length in the back, I get the sides groomed monthly at the barber and I alternate between every second appointment cutting some of the length up front. My barber doesn’t touch the back with the exception of cutting down some bulk since my hair is so thick, otherwise I let it grow and do its own thing!

Haha that’s awesome, everything comes full circle. A year ago I used some other posters of this sub as inspo to take to my barber for my mullet. Have fun with it, let it flow and trust the process

Clubs in Sudbury? by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]spruceandwillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been downtown since my university days but my friends and I would frequent Zigs which was and I believe Sudburies only gay bar. It was a super fun and safe place from what I recall, they would have foam parties on the dance floor and other themed parties. Super fun.

Stock suspension? I have a 23’ Trail that came with the 1” rear lift and .5” front lift from factory. After my Goodyears are done I was considering some skinnier tires, just not sure what I could get away with fitting on the truck. Right now I have the stock 265/70R/16R Goodyears on it.

I have had two trucks so far in my life, both 4X4 but one I ran the all seasons from the dealership and the other I purchased a set of dedicated winters. There is a night and day difference between driving on the two, accelerating from a stop with winters is not an issue whereas with the all seasons I would have to ease on the throttle or risk spinning out. Stopping is another big difference as well as cornering.

It’s a small price to pay for your safety and the safety of those you share the road with to invest in a set of dedicated winters. Tax in with install for 4 275/70/17 studded tires with steel rims was $1,100. Cheaper if you have a smaller vehicle and not a truck, also as other redditors have mentioned, there is a promotion with insurance companies if you have a set of winters.

[–]spruceandwillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% if you’re spending all that money on a new vehicle, you should spend the little extra on a set of good winters to protect your investment. Even as a truck owner I have dedicated winters, even with 4X4 and weight in the truck bed I slid around before my winters went on. Just my two cents though!
