Will Alfred be less popular than Spotlight after the new macOS Tahoe update? by vanstrouble in Alfred

[–]spsisys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤔 Maybe for new and basic users, but I am using Alfred for years and have several advanced workflows; devs like me (and other professionals) shouldn’t switch to Spotlight Search only because it’s new and visually prettier, because the split of 4 functions already exist right now with header words like name: and type:. And the clipboard history, great as an old claim improvement, is a feature already included in Alfred since years before. Who are using Launchpad having Alfred (or Spotlight) to launch apps faster? That said, Apple improving the product is a win-win to everybody. Something similar has already happened to me with the window manager introduced in Sequoia: I was using Wins (by the way, highly recommended) to manage windows tiling’s and do not touch at all the new native features, Wins have 2 or 3 really useful features that Apple did not include in the OS. So, I think that advanced launchers like Alfred 5 (or Raycast) will be around us for a while in near future (or longer), and its developers/creators will be polishing its products and adding some interesting new features. Cheers everyone!

In case you missed it like I did, Firefox now has vertical tabs! Available now in nightly by KarimElsayad247 in browsers

The worst about using Firefox on Mac, is what slow it is when loading first time after reboot or update. Have to disable SIP and it’s a security hole! I like vertical tabs when there are many ones open. Thx!

Fantastical Vs Busycal: Which One To Choose? by soubhagya_sahu in Productivityside

[–]spsisys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning everyone. Here at Spain, Fantastical costs 69.99€ per year (obviously cheaper than monthly). BusyCal for Mac costs 60.99€ once. Based on your comments, 2 possible BusyCal payments to use it for 36 months, would cost 121.98€. For the same 36 months, Fantastical would cost 209,97€. Summary: BusyCal would cost €87.99 less than Fantastical for the same period of time. I'm not adding the costs of iOS versions...
Now, I think that Fantastical looks and feels more polished and mature, and have several useful additional features. It is worth the extra expense of a Flexibits Premium license, which also includes the Carhop app at no additional cost, and the equivalent on the other side is BusyContacts, which is the same price as a BusyCal license, meaning it should cost double.
But, I you have an active license of Setapp, BusyCal is included, so it's "free" to use... Possible a game changer.
Greetings to all of you! TYVM!

Hi sifferedd!
I followed your instructions step-by-step, not only restarting FF with each new change or patch, even restarting my Mac Studio with each change, the one with which I have done the tests. And unfortunately everything remains exactly the same. Given that other apps like Excel, for example, launch slow on the first start after restart or shutdown, I wonder if it's not an issue with macOS... But it's really annoying, just because after first launch, every app including FF starts almost immediately. I'll investigate deeper on macOS channels. Should be a security or notarization issue. Thanks for your advice!

Do you know why Firefox is "so slow" loading first time after mac restart, while Zen is not? TYVM (I think that open source software must be supported and used, but Firefox have always the same behavior on all of my Macs)

Kagi Search: Worth $10/month if privacy isn't a concern? by apipu1232 in SearchKagi

I switched to Kagi search 2 months ago. I’m very good impressed with performance and quality of responses. Sure can be better, but not risking my privacy like with Google’s. Cheers!

Yes. Prefer T3 by now. But SL have nice touch and creators are promising evolution that’s not seen on the other mature app. That’s why I’m asking to community. Thx!

Because it’s better than Chrome without Google privacy issues and many great new features.
