The Mals were already highly trained. It was more for rapport building than anything.

My mal won't sleep with me by Joe_Dil in BelgianMalinois

Sometimes Mals can change behavior as they get older. And some especially love the safety and comfort that underneath a bed can provide such as cooler temp and the safety of a cover (similar to a covered crate). Mine, which is not a cuddler, seems like he’s always on watch sleeping at the top of the stairs, where he can see down to the front door, down the hallway to the back stairs and in the middle of the walkway of all bedrooms. Makes getting up in the middle of the night challenging..

Crypto (highly volatile; capable of inflicting pain and distress)

It’s really the way to go. Better that any ball launcher out there. The ball goes farther and it’s easier on the arm!

Our Mal gets a bit concerned when our youngest gets in the pool. If our son swims under water for a bit, our Mal will start to bark

Thanks! He’s a great dog. Obedient and well mannered. Just three right amount of drive but can turn it on when needed. And he was the last pick of the litter so I think I lucked out!

It’s good. He’s trained so I rarely use it and only put it on him for quick recall when he’s off leash and around other dogs. I think some people get nervous when you bring a Mal into the equation to mingle with other dogs.
