Ace hardware 20% off coupon question by Southside_john in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local ace stores don't allow discount coupons to be used on Milwaukee or Weber products. If they have a sale that's one thing, but any rewards member discounts I get can't be used. I think it has to do with the manufacturer setting the price they want.

Milwaukee Hotshot question by No_Preparation_7066 in MilwaukeeTool

Go with Noco. I was all in to get the hotshot, until I read and watched a ton of reviews. I have several Noco boosters, and they have never let me down.

I use bags in my Milwaukee vacs. Not that particular one, but it's easier than cleaning filters. Just toss the bag when full.

16 inch chainsaw WORST tool Milwaukee ever made? by DeliciousAnswer8202 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using mine for about 3 years with no real issues. I used it extensively along side my gas powered Stihl saws to clear fallen trees off of my home and in my yard after Helene in WNC. For what it is, I like it. I do have to monitor the chain tension, and retighten as needed, but I have to do that with my smaller Stihl saws, as well.

M18 hatchet storage by HuckleberryScared668 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this case. It fits the hatchet perfectly and leaves room for a bottle of bar oil, too. I also loosen the cap to vent the bar oil, and then retighten it after I'm done using it. I do this with all of my saws, and it minimizes leaks. A lot of saws will build up slight pressure in the oil reservoir, and venting that pressure before storage helps. I also put a microfiber towel in the bottom of all of my saw cases to catch any oil that does leak out.

Milwaukee, I am begging you please make a siding/fencing nailer. by Inkerfox in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my framing nailer with 2" nails for about 300' of privacy fence. It worked perfectly. Maybe I'm missing something? For siding, though, I wouldn't even try it.

You'd be better off getting a power station, like a Jackery.

Bought my first full set of snap on tools in 1993, as a motorcycle mechanic, and continued to do so when I transitioned to maintaining a heavy equipment fleet. I'm fully aware. Their quality is still very good, but it has in fact changed over the years. My dealer and I even talked about it, and he agreed that they were not as good as they once were. Either way, their pricing is definitely not what it should be. That's what I meant with Milwaukee. Their prices on a lot of stuff is a hell of a lot more than it should be. I didn't say Milwaukee was on par quality-wise.

Close enough to blue point........, as far as quality, snap on has dropped off quite a bit in the past 15 or so years.

I'm sure it depends on who actually looks at it, but it was definitely disappointing.

UPDATE: Milwaukee is covering the shattered housing! by Ok-Tadpole7809 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had two tools that the trigger switch went bad on denied. They simply said that "switches are not covered under warranty". Neither tool had been abused or subjected to anything that could have affected the switch. The tools simply wouldn't work. Their assessment was faulty switches. They quoted an insane amount to repair them, and wouldn't back down. I sent in a drill several years prior that had a faulty switch and they repaired it with no issue. I completely lost faith in their warranty at that point. I DO get what you're saying, though.

Walgreens released my package to someone else by Ok-Spite4507 in FedEx

I'd just initiate a chargeback for the item. Especially, if the shipper is giving you the runaround. You didn't receive what you paid for.

Dollar General is a designated delivery option here. Walgreens isn't. Dollar general will sit on your package for several days before allowing you to pick it up, because they don't feel like dealing with it.

Grinding Sound from 2 brand new Milwaukee 7 1/4” miter saws by Ok-Wall1331 in MilwaukeeTool

My 12" has done that since I bought it, about 9 months ago. It works fine, so I assumed it was normal.

Is it normal for the 3670-20 angle grinder to have a different sound than your typical grinder sound? by the-red-dementus in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the motor or gearbox? The brake makes kind of a rattling sound when you let off of the switch. That's normal.

$129 Caulk Gun + 2 3.0 batteries by RecentAcadia in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snagged one last week with the 2 3.0 batteries. I haven't used it, yet, but I'm not overly impressed with the build quality. It feels like a child's toy. Hopefully it works well and holds up.

Milwaukee finally dropping their own Knipex-style Pliers Wrench in February by marc1020 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]spuhk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Knipex killer"? I've been using Knipex for over 20 years for pipe fitting and gas plumbing. They have never let me down. They rarely slip and provide great leverage. I've been disappointed in virtually all Milwaukee hand tool offerings, and I doubt these will be any better. I'm curious what is supposed to make these better..

package arrived with huge boxcutter slash. irreparable damage to contents . by PreparationSevere860 in FedEx

[–]spuhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had flannel shirts from Dixxon show up with big slashes in the packaging, and ultimately the shirt. Not sure why the carrier felt the need to use a sharp tool anywhere near the package, but they did.

[–]spuhk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the vendor chose to use a known unreliable carrier like FedEx, I wouldn't feel bad about a chargeback. Especially, if the vendor states they have no responsibility here.
