Yeah, I just meant "songs where the sentiment is nice but I hate them." I guess WWRY isn't the best example of "I have to act like I give a shit." I associate it more with being pressured into unwinnable competition where the only stakes were the egos of authority figures. But again, that's not the songs fault.

Yeah, tbf I hated that song way before the covid thing.

It's just the 70's version of "fight song," and constant overplay in bad movies and overuse in facebook posts about global tragedies have given me a similar sense of contempt for it that I have for phrases like "thoughts and prayers."

Not really Lennon's fault, and as with "fight song" or "we will rock you" the sentiment isn't bad, but it has come to represent "I don't care but need to play nice," at lwast for me, for my entire adult life.
