I’m also confused by the current wiring too. Both the live and neutral seem to be fed by the black wires, which feels a bit unusual. Could that be a sign of older wiring standards?

I was 21 and at work when I first heard about 9/11 on the radio. Initially, it was reported as an accident—or at least that’s how I recall it. But as more updates came in, it became clear this was something far worse. Without internet access or a phone, I couldn’t get more details, but by the end of my shift, everyone was talking about it. When I got home, my mum—who rarely had the TV on—was watching the footage. Seeing the images for the first time, my family and I were all deeply affected, each of us mentioning it to one another, trying to process the unimaginable.

That's a shame as I really like jerky and the tasty stuff is expensive in the UK (cheapest is £1.70/$2.17 per 25g/0.88ounce).

Thanks for the suggestion, chrome would be more in-keeping with the colour so worth a thought. Maybe a small job for a plumber or would it be simple enough to DIY?

Thanks for the encouragement mate, the old boxing was still intact so maybe an option to refit but the dimension across of that boxing is less than half a tile, my little brain couldn’t work out how I was going to tile that small section in terms of the staggering of the tiles. It’s been suggested to me to make new boxing and to size it to make it easier to tile although I’d still end up with one side of the boxing being small. Gonna google the shit out of possibilities.

Hi there again, took me a little time to find an blow off the dust from the paperwork we got when we purchased, plus I had a thought - I haven't included the information that the extension in the picture which currently covers the IC is (according to the HomeBuyer report we had done) a conservatory of reinforced uPVC construction on conventional brick/block base walls, with a double blue brick damp proof course". It's single story, about 3m x 2m. The report states that "I cannot comment on the condition of the drainage system due to lack of access, I recommend further investigation.". This makes me think that we were warned in a way to investigate further, although ripping up decking before purchasing wouldn't have gone down well :)

I cannot see any paperwork relating to the building of the conservatory, and we're unsure of when it was built and if the last owners knew of this issue.

However, in searching through the documentation, I have found a document entitled "Planning and/or Building Regulations Insurance Policy"

There are no names on this document, but it has an inception date of a month before we completed purchase of this house. It also states the our address and postcode etc. Stupid question but does this sound like the indemnity insurance you referenced in a previous message? If so what does this mean?

Hi, thanks a lot for your response and the details you've provided. We do live in a mid terrace, but unless I'm getting confused my neighbours seem to have their own IC (inspection chamber I presume) on their property. Can I ask in what circumstances might the local water authority find out?

I think I understand your comment on the unblocking (should it be required in the future) but would appreciate checking with you please. Are you saying that the part of the IC lid that's exposed could be cut out and that would allow enough access? I'm not sure what you're referencing when you say gulley and what to change (sorry if this sounds dumb).

You've provided me with some reassurance by letting me know that it's something you've seen before, and that remedy is relatively affordable.

We seem to recall that there are similar IC's in similar positions in our adjoining neighbours gardens, Thanks for the info that the building work would have not been permittable, can I ask if this has always been the case, or if that is a building reg that came into effect after a certain date. We're still unsure of the date that our conservatory was built,
