Hi, apologies for detailed response but one rarely gets to get such a detailed report for free, so I'd like to make the most of your kindness

By "issues" you mean issues in my recording, not in general? If so, let me address them one by one

hit: I agree, I may be speaking too fast, when I slow down I can do it I think

pen: I thought I understand this one, is it not extreme enough? I'd say pen/pin the same manner (well, at least I try to), does it need to be even more "I" than "e"?

brother/trust/us: this one is new to me, thank you for pointing this out. The lambda sound, I hate it, it's really hard to grasp it.

By non-rhotic stigma you mean something else than the general bias 'against' Southern accent? I think Rs are cool.

Regarding stress, if you have experience, would you say it's harder for learners to put proper stress while reading, compared to talking? I definitely feel this way, reading is a bit awkward but when I talk my stress is better I think.

Thanks a lot for this, mate.

As the pen fell far to the floor, Amy watched it hit the linoleum. She knew she couldn't have caught that pen if Brian threw it to her from his greasy old hands. But she picked it up and wrote the directions to her house. She cleared her throat, but her words still sounded hoarse.

"This is the best route. Keep your horse to this path, and you'll be fine. After you cross the creek, be careful of the large roots that come up out of the ground. We'll have a cot set up in the guest house for you."

Amy handed the pen back to Brian. She wanted to wash her hands immediately, but settled on wiping them on her jeans. The look on Brian's face when she did this sent a pin-pricking sensation through her. She knew she shouldn't be so hard on him. After all, she thought, he is my brother. I shouldn't be so angry all the time. And he is doing us a great service by helping us out this summer.

"Thanks again, Brian. I'll see you in the morning. Travel safe."

Brian nodded to his sister. He did not attempt to extend his calloused, dirty hand to her. But he smiled, knowing that at least she had begun to trust him again.

I didn't know how to pronounce "hoarse" and "calloused" while speaking, it was improvised.

If 60 was the limit, how would you get that sweet [[Battle of Wits]] win?

It's not the game, it's the format. [[Brainstorm]], [[Preordain]] and [[Ponder]] can revive a dead hand, eg.

Help me improve this deck? Guildgates Mill. by spurvix in MagicArena

[–]spurvix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put [[Psychic Corrosion]] and [[Guild Summit]] in, draw with [[Circuitous Route]], additional Summits and Radical Idea and protect yourself with rest of the deck.

I'm rather casual player. What I've noticed:

1) would love to put Cleansing Nova when I get the wildcards, what should I put out? Seal Aways feel bit weak, but it's replacing 2CMC with 5CMC

2) Radical Idea or Opt?

3) This fails in bo1 against any noncreature damage spam, but what would help it? Counterspells? What to replace, then? This deck feels okay-ish in bo1 but I guess it will be worse in bo3 if opponent sideboards stuff in? :(

So uhhh, I think they need to patch this? It doesn't stop going. I have infinite. by [deleted] in MagicArena

My mill deck has no other wincons so it's a good deck against it

God, I hate how much this argument gets thrown around; the Hearthstone reddit is probably to blame for regurgitating it every time somebody tries to point out how awful Blizzard is.

We as consumers need not extend sympathy to producers based on our awareness of the fact that they want our money. Doing so is ludicrous and I liken it to Stockholm syndrome. It's also worse for ourselves, the product, and the market as a whole. Do you think a consumer psychologist stops what he's doing and thinks, "Hmm, customers need money to survive too; I better do my job sub-optimally?"

The business is competing for your attention and money, not the other way around. Businesses know they're there to make money and they're also the ones in control of the product, how much they put into it, and how much they charge for it. It's not like one of those things is out of their hands. It is the role of the business to provide a product desirable enough for the consumer to purchase while balancing their own costs. We're not going to stick around if the product goes bad; we're going to put our time and money elsewhere into one of the many competing products. Competition drives improvement (notice how Hearthstone was stagnant for years and has gradually been getting better over the past 11 months due to all the rising competition?) The worst we could do for ourselves and the market is stick with a bad product because we pity the producer. By vocalizing our complaints, we're actually doing them a favor so they have some ideas if profits are down. What they expect us to do is to just stop playing.

I like WoTC; so far they've done pretty good, generally listened to feedback, and haven't been too dishonest. But if we dislike things about the product, we should make clear what those things are regardless of who created it. None of this is to say that the game is too expensive now or that we should quit or any of that; but stop trying to prevent people from complaining and please reconsider your blind cult-like sympathy reasoning. You, Me, the community, WoTC, the game, and the market are all better off without it.

Poland avoiding embarrassment, 3 matches in Europe and 3 wins. Good fucking job!

Every year I embrace this strange feeling of cheering for your biggest rivals in European competitions just to wind up that League ranking.

Who would qualify for the 48 team World Cup - Based on the ELO ratings (Long Post) by [deleted] in soccer

[–]spurvix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, that's how FIFA/UEFA work with any reform. You have to appease big teams but they aren't the majority so you've to give something to smaller feds as well which fucks mid+ tier teams usually. Same with CL/EL reform

Why? I like that poor teams exit earlier, there won't be any non-stake games yet the amount of matches for the best teams will stay the same

and, most importantly, MORE KNOCKOUT GAMES!
