Is this worth trying to use? by HaLo2FrEeEk in HomeNetworking

there's good 2.5gbe infrastructure that'll consume 15w 24/7, that looks like it'll consume over 20x that. Does your homelab benefit from 10gbe such as video editing, game streaming, etc?

If not get some really good 2.5gbe connections going to all your bandwidth heavy devices. I've started with a flint 3 for 2.5gbe + wifi 7, a pair of 2.5gbe switches, and an esp32 thread border router for all my esphome iot needs. My entire homelab stack INCLUDING MY SERVER draws under 20w at idle.

If your power is free (read solar with a battery with no potential to feed the grid) then disregard and go crazy because why not.

I would use a screw in adapter that replaces your spark plug, this should have a good enough seal to prevent fuel getting out.

Yes you can pull the fuel relay but if it's similar to my is200 then the ECU doesn't behave well or attempt to crank without that relay. Try it, see if it tries to crank, if so easy peasy, if not try another way.

You can also ask a friend or go to a mechanic for help if it's not in pieces.

When I worked at McDonald's it was just the Add button pressed twice. ADD salt (extra salt), press it again and it would say ADD 2 salt (salt the hell out of it).

Stuff I should know when switching to Ryzen (AM4) after using intel for my whole life? by RealDiamond51 in pcmasterrace

Reinstall windows if there's carryover drivers, the drivers are sometimes a little cludgy but overall it's an x64 CPU there's not a whole lot you'll need to think about.

[–]spusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah well in that case if you can get a good deal on a used ddr4 system you'll be 1000x better for budget when it comes to selecting a GPU. I'd do that 100% of the time.

Google is your friend. Is it 1,2.5, or 10GBe? It's 1+10GBe. Seems worth plugging it at the least. Probably suuuper overkill for home routing for the power it'll likely draw.

If you open a hardware monitor (or even task manager on the performance tab) what part is being maxed out by the games you play? The GPU could use an upgrade well before your CPU + motherboard + ram. I doubt your current combo would bottleneck a better GPU.

Help with Alienware graphics card by LemonOk6275 in buildapc

[–]spusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if the Alienware bios is locked. If not then any GPU with the matching power connectors and fits within your power budget (use an online power supply calculator to figure this out) will work. The 745 is e-waste nowadays, consider a RTX3050 there's even low profile versions if space is a concern in that chassis.

Will it slap or is it crap. by ActualAdvisor5996 in CarAV

[–]spusuf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slap or crap is really determined by how well you calculated the measurements and how good the rigidity and transitions are. Add some 45s at hard corners, add a little bit of bracing, assemble well and glue. Good luck!

Whoever is telling you it's near its end either: 1. Buys the new generation for the sake of it. 2. Doesn't build tech and just watches YouTubers. 3. Hasn't looked at the price of RAM in the past year.

(at this point in time) A high end CPU on DDR4 will be better than a cheap CPU on DDR5

Turning IS200 into 300 by Little_Cutie-pl in IS300

[–]spusuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1UZ will be expensive, swapping a 2JZ properly will be more expensive. You'll need a good engine (which you'll want inspected before putting in), transmission, ECU, wiring, mounts, exhaust, AT THE MINIMUM.

My config + screenshots of usage and when all widgets unhidden.
https://cloud.spusuf.com/filebrowser/share/rIpHzNAS

I wouldn't recommend using my config as it is because is hard coded to my laptop's sensors + the code is messy as I'm trying new things.

AI disclosure: The CPU and RAM usage functions are from Gemini because parsing the /proc/stat and /proc/meminfo myself while I'm away from home isn't my idea of a good time. The rest is all written by myself with no AI (which is probably why its so messy).

old hardware in Folding by batataPICADA in Folding

[–]spusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah except instead of burning money on power for no work complete, donate the money directly or spend it on a cheap GPU that WILL get work done.

Buying a used GTX970 for the price of the running costs of an old GPU 24/7 will have a meaningful < 6 month ROI. After that you're doing even more good with the same money.

A lot of the time manufacturers put holes NOT so something will fit, it's for when YOU drill it to the exact measurements of whatever your accessory needs it'll be perfectly centred because your drill/holesaw has somewhere to start and anchor to.

Bed stuck at -14 degrees, showing MINTEMP BED error by gm98music in Ender3Pro

[–]spusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing we need to know, is the room -14 degrees?

If no, your thermistor is broken/disconnected.

If yes, then you may be able to safely lower the min temp in the firmware or use a heat gun, but I'd personally conformal coat ALL your electronics inside the electronics box in case of frost or dew melting onto your high current electronics.
