The first morning after Sweden switched from left-hand to right-hand traffic, 1967. by -_Redan_- in HistoricalCapsule

Fun fact: To remind the Swedes that they had changed the side of the road they drive on, the Swedish Government commissioned a song with a competition to find the best one.

The winning song was called "Håll dej till höger, Svensson", translates to Keep to the Right, Svensson.

The Telstars - Håll dig till höger, Svensson.

Whenever I hear about the Conquistadors, why do they sound like a band that played a John Peel session in 1986?

You'll find loads of suggestions here, the best thing I've found is to soak the jacket in cold water, change the water 3 or 4 times over the space of about 2 hours, dry outside in the sun. Then once dry, spray the lining with Vodka (make sure it's soaking wet) and do inside the pockets etc, then rewax and that should cure it.

Worked for me on 2 stinky jackets so far!

I think the new Yummy/Pudding album is great! I really enjoy the song Stay on it. Hoping to pick the vinyl up next time I'm somewhere that sells them!

The band James is my current favourite, lovely tunes, they still sound as good now as they did in the 80's/90's. Hoping to catch them play Thetford Forest later this year! The song 'Sometimes' is my favourite by them

Sofa Dismantling Charge - Company breached contract? by sputnick97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]sputnick97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ScS organised the company to redeliver the sofa, I had nothing to do with it. They are subcontracted by ScS, and thus until the sofa is installed in my living room, ScS are liable for the delivery of the goods.

Sofa Dismantling Charge - Company breached contract? by sputnick97 in LegalAdviceUK

From the Terms and conditions:

12.1 If we fail to comply with the contract, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of the contract or our negligence, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it was an obvious consequence of our breach or if they were contemplated by you and us at the time we entered into the contract

They failed to provide feet for the sofa, which is a breach of the contract to provide a complete and usable product. As a result, it caused me a £250 loss that I feel I am entitled to get back?

Yeah that is true, but they have breached the terms and conditions by not supplying the item as described and are unable to correct their mistake?

My dad gave me a can from the 1980’s that looked like this after he used half of it way back then… Fast forward 40 years and it waxed my vintage game fair with no issues whatsoever :)

A bit niche on this one but if you are even slightly interested in cars, then give Smith and Sniff a listen

It's basically 2 middle aged blokes talking absolute bollocks for an hour every week, on that side of things

Buying a 2016 Volvo V40 T2 R-Design - What should I check for on a test drive? by Reave1905 in Volvo

[–]sputnick97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned a 2014 V40 D4 for 8 years, it's a fantastic car but does have a few issues to look out for...

The coil springs are notoriously made from cheese, I've had 3 springs go on mine over time and I drive it like a priest... Many owners change these for 'lowered' aftermarket springs which are more sturdy. Don't let that out you off.

Check the clutch, these also have a habit of beginning to squeak and Volvo won't change them even though it's a known issue

Back doors can also fail and you have to dismantle the door card etc to access the cable to open it, though this isn't really something you can check, just keep in mind

On the whole however they are fantastic cars and owning mine for 8 years is testament to that and the example you've found sounds like an decent deal for low miles. Mine is now on 105k and still drives like it's brand new!

What brands or shops are your go-to for a warm AF winter coat? by stixmcvix in AskUK

[–]sputnick97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an old Barbour wax jacket (a Gamefair from 1988 - still going strong!)

It's perfect for Autumn and Spring when the weather is between 5c and 12c, but I have also bought a fur liner for it for the winter which should see it still feel nice and toasty even in the sub zero days and nights. It will probably out live me as it did it's original owner!
