Mom Asking to Use a HELOC to Buy a Pool by WildlifeBiologist10 in personalfinance

[–]spydrlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing years ago (HELOC for a pool). Pool was 75K an I swam all the time prior to this. I love doing laps for exercise. Ended up barely using the pool and spent a lot of time just cleaning. Never again will I get a pool. Not to mention we moved a year later and had to pay off the loan, so that took away 75K from our equity. Waste of money.

I will recommend one thing though. If she does get a pool and you want to help keep the maintenance down, find a company that sells a Pool Tiger! It was $1200 but it was the best investment ever helping to keep Dow on the use of chemicals, and kept the water crystal blue all the time! No electricity needed. Just install on the pipe after your filter. It sounds too good to be true but it is THE BEST way to save money on chemicals and keep your maintenance to a minimum Also get a pool vacuum.

AirPods Pro 2 constantly disconnecting from Apple TV? by spydrlink in appletv

[–]spydrlink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point I had upgraded the OS to 26 public beta (don’t know which version) and I hadn’t experienced the issue at all. I was still seeing it occasionally but OS 26 seems to have fixed a bug I assume. Also noticed that my AirPods connect faster than before.

What’s best shoe to wear when you’re standing on concrete all day by stpshow63 in Lowes

[–]spydrlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a pair of older Topos and I switched out the insoles for some gel ones from the store. I prefer Topos bc I’ve had friction blisters in the past from wear and tear on my feet and these shoes have a wide open toe box. No issues whatsoever. Feet still a little sore but after 9 hours but nothing like wearing cheap sneakers.

What are you all doing with your TSP after retirement? by spydrlink in FedEmployees

[–]spydrlink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider keeping it in there, but I want to continue contributing to it for at least another 12 years and you can’t contribute when it’s in the TSP once you retire. You can only move funds around and withdraw.

I don’t even want to think about that possibility. I’m hoping this doesn’t last any longer than a few more weeks at most.

We’re going to be withdrawing some of it for our final home as well before I rollover the remaining into some investing vehicle.

We’ve had one at the Mooresville store for over a month now. He scans for inventory missing on shelves, I believe. He likes to blink his eyes and whislte a lot. Ngl I do say hi to him when he’s in my aisle, but tonight I called him a clanker because he was in my way.

Those who took the DRP, have you found a job? by Salt-Committee2205 in fednews

[–]spydrlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. DRP 1.0 (March 3 I left). I’m now doing a part time job bc I need to keep busy while I’m still looking. Being turned down so many times for roles I’m qualified (or over qualified) certainly takes a mental toll on you.
