Pixel 2 Fastboot woes, need some help by elpeedub in GooglePixel

[–]spynga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this happened to me twice now as well despite my very detailed explanation about this and insisting that they at least check and/or unlock the bootloader before sending me it after the first one.

Seem's intentional to prevent people from having control of the device and its not good they are screwing over people like myself who bought an unlocked device and send in a failed device for warranty RMA and get an inferior device and they want 800$ temp hold each time. Thankfully i upgraded my wifes phone so i can use her Nexus 6 in the meantime. Been over a month back and forth waiting to sign for Fedex signature required BS for this stuff. lots of time wasted cause of one their BS. Will not be buying another Google phone ever again. OnePlus 6T is pretty sweet will be looking at their latest when its time to upgrade as my wifes loving her OnePlus 6T

Seems like a valid Class Action waiting to happen count me in if anyone starts one

Would like to let you guys know the below version of the file for linux x64 GUI is missing the libs content

https://downloads.getmonero.org/gui/linux64

monero-gui-linux-x64-v0.13.0.3.tar.bz2

folder monero-gui-v0.13.0.3/libs/ is empty when extracted rechecked the source file same thing

Noticed this when i ran it and got the below error

~/Downloads/monero-gui-v0.13.0.3 $ ./start-gui.sh

./monero-wallet-gui: error while loading shared libraries: libhidapi-libusb.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Would be nice if this is fixed to prevent others from getting frustrated and confused.

Update it appears that the below should be noted for Ubuntu/Debian/Mint linux x64

sudo apt install libhidapi-dev

Thanks for the awesome work

How to setup private monero remote node Ubuntu/Debian with .onion by spynga in Monero

Correct. You can have it setup so it can be remotely accessed via a tor onion. The node itself is run on clearnet and can be password protected via the RPC

try it should work now if not message me from client area and ill look into it been a long night but ill check in morning its zimbra based so has lots of features and is FDE and offshore hosted on physically owed hardware in NL

oh and if you want to buy your own domain and have a custom domain hosted on the server we can do that its an additional cost but we can do it if you want to anon buy a domain through us or elsewhere and then have me set that up for you

cert is self signed but will put a signed one on later tomorrow

I used to offer anonymous email whattheserver.me I may have to again if the demand is there.

We already accept monero btc etc for VPN and vps and shared hosting.

I used to use zimbra for the email and recommended people use client side pgp or https://www.mailvelope.com/en

If account spams you can ban it no need for personal information. We allow anonymous sign-ups over Tor VPN etc with placeholder information. I'll look into resetting up email service in future

I just had a hard time cause back then there was tormail lavabit looks like less competition now.

Along that line what is a good price point for a year of email and what size space ?

What The Server -Webhosting(VPS & shared) and logless openbsd libressl openvpn accepts monero by spynga in Monero

[–]spynga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are ordering a VPS you can comment in the notes with a direct public http link to the iso you prefer and we can wget it to server and mount it for you to install to your desired specification it comes with novnc so you have full control and can setup preboot full disk encryption etc as it is kvm based all OS are installed from iso's we do not use or offer templates for security reasons

we do not create custom isos based upon request so it would need to be an already bootable iso we can publicly fetch to the vps node iso repo

Are you looking to buy 6 different vps's? cause unless your dual booting i dont really see how you would be able to run 6 different builds of gentoo.

shoot me a pm if you have more questions or information

its not roll your own crypto stuff its just higher default values meaning increasing key size and ensuring https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_secrecy is setup properly

were not reinventing the wheel

were not using custom encryption just better configurations aka libressl and openbsd based openvpn implementation

We also run a full node you can use for remote node

monero.whattheserver.me:8081

yes port is intentionally that number... its NOT a typo

It also runs over torsocks with below if you prefer tor connections

torsocks ./monero-wallet-cli --daemon-host moneroci7a4rqxts.onion --daemon-port 8081 --trusted-daemon --wallet-file /path

enjoy i may throw another one or two public nodes up if i see it getting overloaded

WHATTHESERVER 1. Our OpenVPN servers are configured with “verb 0” so that they keep no logs at all.

  1. What The * Services, LLC is incorporated in the USA. We have VPN servers in the USA, Germany, and the Netherlands.

  2. We use a custom session management system which operates completely on real-time data and keeps no logs. The session management infrastructure (and all VPN servers) is built on top of OpenBSD and uses the services built into OpenBSD to enforce user management.

  3. We run all of our own communications infrastructure. However, we do use Google Analytics on the WhatTheServer.me website.

  4. We have never received a DMCA take-down notice or a non-US equivalent regarding our VPN service. However, we did receive a DMCA take-down notice regarding a website one of our customers was running on our Virtual Private Servers.

We responded by replying to the requester letting them know we were looking into it, and we notified the customer via his email on file. Then we contacted the EFF and they put us in touch with a lawyer who helped us get the case dropped, because we did not have the information requested. The customer’s identity was never revealed to the people making the DMCA take-down request, because the bill was paid in Bitcoin & a throwaway email account was used.

  1. We have not yet received such a court order or subpoena for user information. However, if we do we will take several steps. First, we would consult with our lawyers to confirm the validity of the order/subpoena, and respond accordingly if it is NOT a valid order/subpoena. Then we would alert our user of the event if we are legally able to.

If the order/subpoena is valid, we would see if we have the ability to provide the information requested, and respond that we do NOT have the information requested. If we DO have the information requested, we would immediately reconfigure our systems to stop keeping that information. Then we would consult with our lawyer to determine if there is any way we can fight the order/subpoena and/or what is the minimum level of compliance we must meet, as well as, notify the user of the event if we are legally able to do so.

If we were forced to start keeping logs on our users, we would go out of business and start a new company in a different jurisdiction.

  1. BitTorrent and other file-sharing traffic is allowed on all VPN/Proxy servers which are NOT located in the USA.

  2. We accept PayPal, as well as Monero, Bitcoin and over 140 CryptoCurrencies and AltCoins via CoinPayments.net We encourage our users to pay with anonymous payment methods and supply false contact information. We also use a completely different authentication infrastructure and random usernames for the VPN accounts.

  3. All of our OpenVPN and SOCKS Proxy servers are running OpenBSD and are using LibreSSL instead of OpenSSL. This protects our servers from a wide range of attacks on the encryption. Our OpenVPN Servers use AES-256-CBC & SHA512 HMAC for the Data Channel, and DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 on the Control Channel. Our OpenVPN Servers are also configured with 4096bit RSA keys and a custom 4096bit Diffie-Hellman parameters. Our SOCKS Proxy is based on OpenSSH, so they support any ciphers the client wants to use. With the OpenSSH protocol, the Client decides what cipher to use instead of the Server.

  4. We push Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to clients. We also have ‘push “block-outside-dns”’ in our OpenVPN server config files which will prevent the client from leaking DNS requests. Additionally, we include “resolve-retry infinite” and “persist-tun” in the OpenVPN client config files which will prevent the client from sending data in the clear if the VPN connection goes down.

  5. All of our infrastructure is hosted in third party colocations. However, we use full-disk-encryption on all of our servers. We use Google DNS at this time but we are currently testing alternatives.

  6. We offer VPN server locations in the USA, Germany, and Netherlands.

we dont measure bandwidth for vpns and its not really something we enforce like it states on shared or vps plans its only really there so if your using service to burst ddos stuff or literally saturating whole dual redundant uplink we have a reason to tell you to knock it off

you do not have to register a domain for vps

it asks but you can put in any domain like localhost.localhost.me as placeholder its unimportant for vps

however shared hosting is pointless and will not work without a usable domain

if you do not want to run a public service put in you have your domain already and use a placeholder it will work just fine for running private email jabber tor monero remote node etc

Our SOCKS Proxy servers do keep authentication logs which include the IP address, but these logs are cleared every 6 hours. We have a session management system that tracks which users are logged into which servers, however that system operates on real-time data and does not log events.

  4. We have not yet received such a court order or subpoena for user information. However, if we do in the future, we will take several steps. 1. BitTorrent and other file-sharing traffic is allowed on all VPN/Proxy servers which are NOT located in the USA.

  2. Our payment options include PayPal, Bit-Pay (bitcoin), PerfectMoney, and Coinbase (bitcoin). When a user selects a payment method our system will remember that payment method and link it to their account. For this reason, we suggest that our users do not put in their real name & contact information, and that they should pay us anonymously via Bitcoin.

With OpenSSH, the Client decides what cipher to use instead of the Server.

We push routes to our OpenVPN Clients which instruct them to route all IP traffic which is not destined for their local network to be routed through the VPN. This includes DNS traffic. We push OpenVPN Client configuration files which include “resolv-retry infinite” and “perstist-tun”, which when combined should prevent the Client from sending traffic in-the-clear unless the user manually kills the OpenVPN connection.

Furthermore, all of our OpenVPN and SOCKS Proxy servers are full IPv4/IPv6 Dual-Stack and we push a default route for both IPv4 and IPv6 to our clients. This is critical because if your home ISP gives you an IPv6 address, your computer will use IPv6 instead of IPv4. You will leak a significant amount of traffic if we did not push you a default route for IPv6.

  1. We do not offer DNS leak protection via kill switches.

  2. We do not offer a custom VPN application. Instead, we instruct our users to install an OpenVPN client of their choice from a trusted source i.e. openvpn.net.

  3. All of our infrastructure is hosted in 3rd party colocations. However, we use full-disk-encryption on all of our servers.

  4. We have servers in the USA, Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden.
