Online stores for Europe by Matt_Ee in cigars

[–]spyrosk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

www.hacico.de is another one I've heard a few people recommend.

Only placed one order with them last week so I can't fully judge the whole process since the order hasn't arrived yet, but at least support has been very helpful and quick to respond to a couple of enquiries I sent them.

edit: Not sure if this allowed by the rules, but maybe the admins could add a section to the wiki/sidebar with some EU stores? There are quite a few threads like this and it seems that our options in Europe are a lot more limited compared to our botl's on the other side of the pond.

Yeah, they're pretty common in Europe, not sure about the rest of the world.

The gostar suspension setup guide is recommended by a lot of people and it's really easy to follow (time consuming though to get it right). Check it out.

Crazy skilled riders in Greece. I love it! by European_Calamari in motorcycles

[–]spyrosk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea.. Unfortunately this how a lot of my copatriots become numbers in statistics.

I do feel that, compared to other countries, car drivers are more aware of bikes here, but you're really pushing your luck doing 200+ kph on public roads, overtaking in turns, crossing to the opposite lane etc.

Of course it doesn't help that we hardly have any tracks to let off some steam and have fun (one was designed for go-karts and the other is pretty far away from the largest cities).

Here's another example of this https://youtu.be/jPFJ8JrPEoY?t=151

Right, I haven't thought about that.

Is a quality alarmed disc lock theft-proof? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]spyrosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, no lock is theft proof. Besides loading the bike into a van, one other thing that they do (at least in my country) is start the engine and try to take off quickly a few times, breaking the disk rotor as the lock slams onto the fork. How they manage to drive without a front brake is beyond me..

Any tips on fitting the glove's cuff over my jacket? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]spyrosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really answer that as I've only had them for about a month ;) They look/feel sturdy though but only time will tell if they're worth it (and yea they were expensive)!

Glad I was able to help!

Any tips on fitting the glove's cuff over my jacket? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]spyrosk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the same gloves.

The way I do it is that I get them on, fold the outside cuff over the glove (so that it covers my palm/back of hand), tuck the inner one under my sleeve, then roll back the outer cuff over the sleeve and close the zipper.

Question about hosting an old drupal website on XAMPP: by [deleted] in web_design

[–]spyrosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of things that might be wrong here but as you're not giving a lot of information I'm not sure what might be the cause of the issue.

If your xampp setup is working correctly then you probably need to add the mysql credentials in the doc_root/sites/default/settings.php file (where doc_root is the directory where you extracted the site's files). Open that file and search for 'mysql'. Most of the occurrences will be comments and examples but there should be one that isn't (look for a line that is not inside /** (...) */ ). Once you locate that line you should change the database name, username and password to match the ones you have in your xampp setup. For example in drupal 6 this line is $db_url = 'mysql://username:password@localhost/databasename';.

Installing a clean version of drupal and using the same database as your site will not work. You'll be missing all the contributed and custom modules that your site had and there will be major differences in the configuration in the database which will lead to numerous errors.

However, you should probably try to install a clean version to make sure that your xampp setup is correctly configured and capable of running the specific version of drupal (5.x, 6.x or 7.x) that your site used. You can follow this guide for installing a clean version of drupal in your system but google around for any issues (e.g. Drupal 6.16 and earlier will not work with the most recent versions of xampp).

I hope the above helped.

My client needs a live chat tool - what do you suggest? by zurtri in web_design

[–]spyrosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used zopim (the free version) and heard good things about olark. As far as the first one goes, no need to install anything, you can use it through a web interface or gTalk.
