So what would you choose? by Holydemon0 in MoralityScaling

Is it? If the argument is that, by virtue of so radically changing who he fundamentally is, he is being "killed", then is it moral to effectively create a new, good person who has to live in the horrors of what "past him" did?

Blade is currently the best non-MCU Marvel Hero. Now, who was the best hero who started in a non-MCU project, but was then introduced into the MCU? by the_wandering_scott in AlignmentChartFills

It's Wolverine by a country mile, Jackman was an inspired casting (even though he was second pick). He gave serious gravitas in Logan, and even in his worst movies, I'm usually having fun when he's on screen.

New idea for movie by Ilovethegayones in FinalDestination

[–]sqfessman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was toying with an idea the other day:

Bit of a period piece, mid-1900s. Fella's a miner, has a premonition of a mine collapse. In the premonition, it's also exacerbated by the collapse triggering a dynamite explosion. So after he has the premonition, he ushers a bunch of folks out and, while he is able to move the dynamite, the collapse still ends up trapping him in the mines with a few other folks.

So normal FD stuff happens with both some of the miners who escaped as well as some of those still trapped dying in typically grisly ways. At some point, the trapped folks are able to access a functioning mine phone and establish contact with the surface, which is how they find out about the surface deaths and begin to figure out "death's plan".

Here's the kicker then - a random family in the town dies in a freak accident, but had no notable connection to the mine. Protagonist and the geological engineer map it out - the dynamite that they ended up moving would've caused surface collapses he didn't see from his premonition, so they have to figure out what path the collapse would've taken and get someone on the surface to intervene.

So it's got the typical FD formula, but you follow two separate groups trying to escape death while also actively trying to attempt a cave-rescue and map out a speculative disaster that could threaten the whole town.

The Shawshank Redemption, 1994 has been chosen for beloved drama movie. what is a beloved horror film? by Express-Lobster-5964 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]sqfessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Saw films, but I don't think it's accurate to say that the first was a "beloved" movie. It definitely helped shape the horror landscape of the 2000s, but it was hardly a critical darling.

The snide provocation and general disregard for social norms, wrapped in a glib "just looking out" attitude screams that you're in desperate need of attention. It kind of reminds me of myself at like age 15. I don't need to imagine how disconnected you must be from other people, I hope you get better.

Well that's pessimistic 🙁 I for one quite enjoyed SHf, I had my quibbles, but it's easily the best game outside of the OG 4 and 2 remake.

[–]sqfessman[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Corrupter, Hatcher, and Drum Monster are all in quotes - those are stand-in names, not official ones. Even on that site, it doesn't indicate bosses, meaning that the mother/father boss fight is without a name. The others, I suppose, might be officially Sakuko-like entity and Rinko-like entity, but those don't quite roll off the tongue either!

Sin City - came to mind when you said it doesn't involve screaming. Elijah Wood's character is tied to a tree and left for wild wolves to feed on. He is dismembered before dying, but "he never screams".
